The Best Panasonic VIERA TC-P55ST50 55-Inch 1080p 600Hz Full HD 3D Plasma television Review
Great TV, Great Value, Couple of the Issues You're Worrying About
Prior to earning this purchase I did so endless hours of online reading that was comprised of: CNET, AV/high def discussion boards and reviews, and Amazon reviews and comments. Industry experts myself a similar questions most TV purchasers ask themselves: plasma vs. LED/LCD, Samsung vs. Panasonic, etc. I got myself the 60ST50 from Amazon and yes it was delivered in the heart of June 2012. By means of background, I own three other LCD's (one of them an LED/LCD) which was my first foray into plasma. I felt like plasma was a low risk choice for this TV as it is going in a basement with no windows.
The general consensus on the internet is how the ST50 is the better value intended for an outstanding picture. Always wanting to get the largest bang for my buck, this consensus opinion was the top take into account my decision.
As I said, I just read a lot of reviews and, in spite of the consensus above, had a amount of reservations as a consequence of conditions that others encountered with the ST50. This is a review of my concerns and my findings. I would observe that I ran the screen prep slides you could find out there on the discussion boards and then played around with two different suggested calibration settings. I have little idea if the screen prep slides should be made and cannot say whether they prepared my screen for calibration. What HAS been proven is I am a serious nerd.
Screen buzzing: Some reviews have noted screen buzz. I became very concerned out of your gate since the screen prep slides use a white slide. When this slide was shown and every one of the phosphors were glowing at 100%, there was a specific buzz emanating through the TV. You could listen to it from everywhere in the small room where I used to be prepping it (that of a nerd!). Thankfully that this buzzing actually reduced over the time i ran the slides. In a larger room watching actual TV content, it isn't audible from as you're watching panel even if the information is quiet. If you stick your face behind it, you can still hear a low buzz. My recommendation: don't purchase this television if you're going to observe it from behind. Otherwise, if you are planning watching it conventionally you have to be relieved to know that we have no problems with buzzing as soon as the break-in period.
Viewing in the bright room: As noted, this television is good for my basement but I had a chance to notice in the fairly bright room sufficient reason for ceiling lights above. Generally, no issues. The filter works fairly well. I could see issues if you have a space with lots of bright sunlight in which the windows could reflect over panel. If that's your needs, you are probably considering LED/LCD anyway. Only you can decide what's befitting your individual circumstances.
Image retention: Another early scare: my Directv rebooted as well as the directv logo was onscreen for Quarter-hour or so. When it turned out finished the image was retained as a shadow for Thirty seconds roughly after which it disappeared. Filled me with a quick scare but wasn't everything to be concerned about. I have had the menus open for decent intervals. We've watched channels with logos. We have watched several movies with black bars on top and bottom. No further issues.
Hockey: The main one entertaining guy inside Amazon reviews that have hockey issues might have scared me. But I don't watch hockey. I have, though, watched baseball, basketball, football, soccer, golf, track and field, etc. All of them look good. No issues.
Some reviews have noted how the picture is way too dark in accordance with an LED/LCD, has no pop, and looks passed. Let me tell you how the picture differs from an LED/LCD. This television has very lifelike pictures and colors. It's really a very refreshing change. Seeking to of this television are the blacks which are really black. My wife, who usually doesn't notice might be found, said, "Wow! The picture is so bright." (Hint for those that don't still find it bright enough after calibration - adjust the gamma setting for instant brightness).
I enjoy this television and am pleased with my purchase. In the event that changes with time, Let me update this review.
A Unique Perspective
MAIN POINTS:
1. You will need to adjust the picture settings about this TV (duh). Doing this can lead to exquisite image quality. I had created heard this TV gives "flagship quality at the mid-range price" and I am here to confirm that; Bet on Thrones on Blu-Ray looks absolutely incredible. (Skip on the end of the review for my picture settings)
2. Virtually no input lag for Video games (crucial for FPS).
3. IR (image retention) is not a problem whatsoever, even though playing Video games having a static HUD for a couple hours at a time.
4. I'm disappointed while using sound quality, due to the fact other reviewers said it was a lot better than almost every other TV's with this price range. Although this could possibly be true, eventually I ponder over it to become barely useable. However, when spending above 1K over a TV you'll want to purchase some kind of speakers also.
5. Buzzing may be nonexistent up to now, will update basically notice it.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:
1. Stand doesn't swivel.
2. Very slick styling; looks great in person.
3. Remote appears like it had been made for a 1998 geriatric technology convention. (who likes you the remote, dude?)
4. There's no questioning the excellence of Amazon's customer care, though the "scheduled delivery" is worthless. Mine was scheduled from 9am-12pm. When it finally attained 5pm (lol) the trucker said, "Nothing is run on time with freight." So expect you'll stop a whole day for this item (remember this was my experience, uncertain how common this is?). Amazon did give me $60 store credit for my troubles.
5. I have not had any difficulties with the ABL (automatic brightness limiting), but I usually do not watch hockey therefore which is your lifestyle then you definitely might want to do more research.
6. I'm not evaluating the wifi capabilities or apps because I hook up to wifi through my Xbox and stream everything through it.
PICTURE SETTINGS:
-Background (for semi-noobs like myself): it seems like a lot of people use D-nice's picture settings (he is a calibrator that posts for the hi tech junkies forum). He recommends downloading some picture prep slides he posted and running them for 100 hours to evenly age the phosphors with this TV. I didn't do that, mostly because I'm lazy. Others use David Katzmaier's settings (he or she is a calibrator and reviewer for cnet). Ultimately I made the decision to place my settings exactly between these "expert's" opinions because neither hit it dead on for me. Bear in mind they are dark room settings which my TV has not been "properly aged." Frankly I can't care because these settings look perfect in my opinion, but I might need to readjust using some months if some "aging" occurs.

Panasonic plasma is the strategy to go
I have owned a 42" panasonic plasma for last 7 a few years has always found it superior in natural color reproduction and movie picture quality in comparison with LCDs.
It was obviously a time to upgrade. I did so take a look at some LCDs but never found them any all-around plasma in natural color tones and movie picture. I believe Panasonic supplies the best quality plasma amongst few plasma manufacturers left in market. So picked p55st50 that is at competitive price, superior than last years best rated vt30 and will be offering most features from higher line ups for 2012.
Here are few major features separated itself if you ask me. Will add/edit later..
- Amazing picture and color quality. Noticeable improved motion smoothness, vibrant colors
- profile is prettey slim. Around 1.5" thik. Thickness is uniform from top to bottom exept the perimeters on all four sides are thinner. The bezel is best(thinner) than last years st30 model. You will find there's clear plastic extention across the bezel which is not enhancing the the design i guess is put into shield you against any harm to the sides. There won't be any buttons on front in the pannel exactly the remote sensor the power light and I guess a ambient light sensor. The power, volume, channel and menu buttons are saved to the correct side back from the pannel which easily accessible when needed. The black bezel is nearly non-reflective and provides no viewing distraction when i have noticed in a few other brands. The new antireflective screen appers being working well. The screen itself displays very less reflection even while watching in birght room with big multiple windows
- 3 hdmi(1 with arc), 2 usb inputs on left back side that i guess will be more than sufficient since several wouldn't get together a lot more than 3 hdmi sources and those who do and put money into this expensive tv would also have a reciever with multiple hdmi inputs.
- Out of the box the shades were displaying some tint/non-natural tones but after changing/adjusting settings they may be feeling better. I may have seen this much like me used to watch a 7 year-old plasma. Now actually I started liking the popped up colors plus they are definitely look attractive in comparison to LCD displays. Black levels and details in dark are amazing. Haven't seen as deep black levels in different other tv yet. I preferred cenema way of bluerays and custom for HD cable. SD videos showed some pixalation but that's expected on the 55 inch large display. Some lower resolution DVD and SD videos usually are not as sharp as on my own old 42" 480p panny again the magnification factor of 55" display is always to blame. But most dvd video with good resolution were displaying perfectly without the pixalation. I became blowen away by the picture sharpness for blueray and hd cable channels.
- Would not notice the issues like fluctuating brightness, fbr discussed for 2011 panny tvs in various forums
- Very easy and straightforward set up
- Installation was quick (except - 2 different people required to lift and slide the panel into stand. Understandable with the 55" size). Create was very simple and intuitive. Connected via 5GHz wireless. There exists use of connecting via ethernet but up to now I'm not really noticing any bandwidth issues on wireless.
- The viera connect and internet features are wonderful. DLNA support is amazing. Could connect to ps3 media server application in my pc and stream some dvd movies with dolby 5.1 sound. Browser wasn't installed as they are, but may do the installation from viera market. There is certainly android and ios app to regulate the television and also browser from smart phone.
- Netflix HD movies looked great. Wasn't any strategy to determine the resolution but picture was clearly hi defination, better than dvd format, no buffering/stuttering.
- You can find plentey of movie streaming apps including amazon, vudu yet others some subcriptin based some free.
- Apart from movie streaming and browsers hardly any other viera applications I reckon that tend to be useful. There are weather, news, fitness, game applications available but I think smartphone/tablet is way better device gain access to them.
- The new advertised 8 train speakers with 3d sound - I looked at the tv screen sound , was superior, with some sourround effect but not something which will replace your 5.1 sorround system. We've Onkyo 7.1 system along with the sound was no match to Onkyo. Quickly switched time for Onkyo. Plugged ps3 and cablebox to reciever via hdmi and used optical out from tv in order to connect to reciever for audio from streaming, audio/video applications, sd/usb streaming. The optical out of tv is passing dolby digital signals but as from online forums the optical connection can pass only two channels. Best for most but if you want all of the channels when available you will need hdmi cable with audio return channel plus a supporting reciever.
- The browser and the touch pad on android phone to control browser doesn't appeared as if fully baked in. The cursor is quite difficult to move/control. Moves very slowly. The browser also wasn't an easy task to navigate around. Hopefully Panasonic pops up with updates to browser and phone application to address these areas. The android remote application is fully functional and intensely handy except the cursor control. Could project photos from my phone onto tv.
I wasn't in a position to control the cabel box and ps3 connected via hdmi while using the viera link. I suppose only panasonic items are supported. Would be great to get support for other devices to minimize on number of remotes.
No new compatible Bluetooth 3d glasses available yet. I could 3d up for grabs on last years gt30 and yes it was looking awsom. Expect 50 series perform better in 3d display.
So overall
Nearly Perfect TV
I certainly never have had it calibrated or even changed the settings much. However, the picture is stunning as it's and calibration would only allow it to be very much better, although possibly less stunning for individuals who want that more than realism. :) I would repeat the contrast is too high and then for everyone there seems to be too much of a reddish skin tone, but so much may be addressed once i feel like changing settings.
The bottom line is how the picture is great, to my eye the blacks seem very good, audio is the greatest of the tv We have tried, the retail price is amazing, the awesome uniformity and viewing angles of plasma, improved motion in contrast to this past year (apparently), etc...
I repeat the audio rocks !, but take into account We've only used tv speakers for many years, i really am not comparing with surround systems. As horrible since several tv speakers sound, though, these sound better to me. During normal shows, what is the news, etc... I became thinking it may sound too "off inside distance". But when I watched Sucker Punch coupled with the amount a lttle bit louder, I had been amazed at the bass and simply overall substance of audio. Maybe I will be mistaking bad audio forever audio just because it's different, but it sounds good to me personally and someone online ahd said Panasonic apparently did some change in speakers, which could explain the differences.
The only negatives I could think of, that happen to be quite minor, are:
1. Generates a huge amount of heat. Even for plasma, this indicates much warmed if you ask me than the st30 sets did. Maybe I have it brighter than I did on those though.
2. Only 3 hdmi inputs.
3. Only one hybrid composite/coomponent input. So you can don't use anything but ONE out of the above types combined.
4. Initially didn't ntoice you will need to see a input list and press an arrow button to set it to component otherwise if yuo utilize a component hookup it can be treated as composite and also the picture is grayscale.
5. No audio/headphone jack. I have tried many tvs from 2011 and a couple 2012 tvs and the majority them had this, but the Panny does not.
All minor what to take care of to acquire great picture and sound quality. The sole method I'll be returning it really is if I can't get it to stop hurting my head. I've had tons of both plasma and eld sets bothering my head or eyes. This is not much different. It feels like something tightened around my head when I watch it. Maybe flicker, maybe reflections, maybe that knows what else. I'm likely to be depressed basically need to return such a great tv because I've tried most everything else and absolutely nothing with great picture quality is not hard on my own head and eyes for some reason.
The GT50 sets come out this month and so are likely to be technically better, and not well worth the $700 or so extra on price, I personally believe. In some recoverable format, anyway. The main differences are THX certified mods (which still will not be accurate enough since all of us have different viewing environments), a supplementary hdmi port, and supposedly two times as many color gradations or w/e it's known as. So for $700 you're basically getting an extra port and barely noticable picture changes is my assumption. COuld be which it ultimately ends up better though. :)
Oh i forgot to add this retains the buzzing much like the ST30 as far as my set goes. About 5 feet away it was loud enough to hear before the a film. I think the image may be worth this. I tried the Sony HX929 and in many cases an extra 929 set as well. Both had very slight flashlighting, the blooming is utterly horrible, just like the uniformity and viewing angles. I think lots of people who review that set just want to feel it's really worth money when theyr ate it so highly. I do think it's Greater at getting rid of flashlighting and bleedthrough than edge lit sets, nevertheless it costs double their price at the same time.
I didn't test this tv in 3D yet. I was going to have the 2012 blyetooth panasonic 3d glasses, but I shouldn't have to pay to ship it well easily cant bear this tv on account of my head issues.
EDIT: lol Just noticed someone on another site sayigng I'm a troll; for mentioning that this generates a bunch of heat. Yes, they caught me. Indeed someone rating this 5 stars is trolling by saying the belief that it creates more heat than these. i tried several ST30 sets as well as the Samsung PN51D7000 and never noticed as much heat since this one. now the pastc ouple days I ahve not ntoiced it as being MUCH, but it'ss till mroe compared to those other models. To the stage where Personally i think a layer of warmth if I am standing a foot or two through the tv. Definitely not merely the rear of it. Also the buzzing is louder than I'd like so when bad because the 2011 ST sets.
Also I forgot to mention that this anti-reflective layer gets rid of nearly all reflections. It still looks nothing like matte, but it's as good as most other glass screen tvs.
EDIT 2: For whatever reason, the tv screen seems to be producing way less heat now. I'm not sure why. Maybe in connection with brightness levels I'm using.
ST vs GT for that undecided
1st. If you are swayed by THX certification avoid being, THX certification costs money for Panasonic so they really only started using it because of their top two series televisions, the VT and GT. The certification doesn't mean much anyways, that THX took that specific preset as well as set the degrees to their personal specifications. You are able to do the same with custom. The ST has the very same picture panel because the GT and using custom settings you can achieve 99% from the image quality as the GT, really the only difference will be the gray scale level settings inside the pro menu, 2 point vs 10 point I really believe, which for the naked eye is going to be negligible to most viewers anyways, even going to most videophile snobs despite what they say. I not used at all the THX settings anyways in my past Panasonics preferring to use my very own settings with custom.
2nd. Truly, the sole difference between GT and ST will be the style of the tv screen along with the dual core processor for graphic speeds with the browser for the GT, that i utilize a laptop for anyways in case you need to employ this since your monitor, i don't recommend using plasma screens for monitors, then perhaps the processor speed is best for you personally. For aesthetics, it's clearly your own preference but if you like the design of the GT over the ST and definitely worth the money to you personally go for it such as the spend any additional cash thinking it is towards better picture.
3rd. Buzzing. Don't let another woman's over sensitive ear turn you away from these sets. This also is dependent upon the consumer though so search for a store and turn the sound off an arrangement and hear this close. I can understand many people are plain sensitive to sounds, sights, smells and other manners of disturbances but the buzzing on these tvs is overhyped. When people hear the saying buzz they have an inclination to think about a fly within their ear or metalic rattling or vibration sound but about the plasmas its a greater portion of a decreased humming. I really can only read it when I possess the set muted during commercials. ALL plasmas do this and if there is a constant heard it and they are nervous once you see it you'll no doubt have disbelief what other people are complaining about, it's nothing. I not really know if some sets are more "buzzy" than these but my two sets absolutely, positively is not heard with even low volume on and even when muted and humming during muted white background scenes it is rather challenging to listen to in front of the set and yes it doesn't bother me in the slightest. If it absolutely was much more of a rattle, or vibrating metalic sound I think I might be annoyed nonetheless its merely a low hum during screenshots with higher white levels.
4th. Image retention/Burn in. We've read that this ST's are afflicted by burn in more easily than past models and I think this is untrue according to almost all of the complaints seem to come from those who start the therapy lamp get together their ps3 set the tv to vivid or game mode and initiate gonna town just to turn off the console and switch it to the overall game. That's a surefire strategy to have your health meter or score of your favorite team permanently scorched into your set. If here's your first foray into plasma and still have been reading about burn ins and therefore are nervous about it just follow the advice of the site that informs you to let your tv settle in for that first 100 hours possibly even. Yeah that means for approximately per week once you got your family room Ferrari you will never use it into full throttle yet but it is well worth the wait. I always turn my settings way down the page 50, especially brightness, for that first week and focus on any game or news channel which has a ticker or bug(channel logo). Image retention shouldn't frighten you, it's normal and goes away quickly for those who have broken your tv in properly. These sets progress over time. These newer model sets are head and shoulders more resistant against burn in then the first styles of plasma anyways. You almost must attempt to burn in the image following your set is broken in but however, 100 hours could be the recommended time but really chill out for a good month of standard viewing before you start gaming hardcore about it as well as then it's best to utilize whitewash scroll bar every hour or so while gaming. Respect the tv and it'll treat you well. Don't get to sleep before the tv before the netflix or blu rays, these sets have off timers and when you think you will crash then set the television to change off in 60 minutes safe which is just best not to ever let a static menu or any image lay on any plasma for hours on end but even if you do it's still highly unlikely you'll receive permanent burn in though the image retention will most likely last awhile prior to it going away, usually the length of time it had been static on-screen is the amount of time it requires to disappear with regular viewing. I generally let the scroll bar run each and every time for the cycle before I switch off the tv screen at night, it will require one minute and it is like having the oil changed inside your car to maintain it working well.
5th. Glare. If you have it right in front of a window close the curtain. If you've got a lightbulb dangling as you're watching screen turn it off. It's a glass screen there will be a little glare but if you do not have a light source shining directly on the tv it'll be fine. Regular lighting won't bother this set in any way, i.e. floor and end table lamps, most overhead indirect lights will not be grasped screen. If you have it underneath a chandelier I guess it will pick-up some glare but otherwise no problem regarding the glare this tv handles light as being a champ and incredibly this set will drop your jaw in low to dark light anyways nevertheless for those sunday football games don't worry you can watch the sport without having to be worried about seeing the sad look in your face in the screen as soon as your team fumbles it with the goal line. This set handles glare much better than what we're utilized to with plasmas. Plus bright daytime light the screen is a bit more than bright enough to not get pale by indirect sunlight like some older models.
Lastly, Calibration. Right as they are some people that have never had an hdtv before will likely be impressed but individuals that have had hdtv's might not. The preset settings, imho, have invariably been junk and in many cases on tube tvs It's my job to tinkered with all the settings to my liking. There are many sites that provide calibration settings and I recommend DNice's settings such as the hesitate to dive into the custom mode and hang up it precisely the way it's perfect to you personally. Also, every room has different lighting so settings that may look nice on a single set might not exactly exactly look the identical around the identical set in another room. You won't ruin the television tinkering around so allow it to be suitable for you. Advanced videophiles accept under 3 color error calibration, basically tweaking large settings being as complimentary and natural as possible, is the acceptable picture quality setting along with this set you may get it calibrated to below 1 that is almost reference quality, meaning this could be the set experts would experience of compare all of those other brand's sets picture quality too whether or not this wasn't for your VT. It's that impressive and you also can't accomplish that with any brand set by adjusting the settings, only a few tv's could get subtle shades and hues perfectly it doesn't matter how several hours you spend futzing with all the settings but this set is as close because it gets. Only the VT series can offer an improved picture and it's as it offers more settings to be controlled and adjusted and you will probably feel those extra contols inside the wallet.
Overall, the ST provides all kinds of bang to the buck. It is a vast improvement even over last years flagship model VT series. What made last year's VT so enticing was it's black levels which have been improved lets start on 2010's ST, GT and VT. You are purchasing plasma for it's inky blacks and deep colors that pop on screen along with the black widescreen bars practically disappears into the bezel and also the colors are vibrant but natural rather than over saturated like these folks were on my small G25. It handles fast paced scenes effectively but I turn off the motion smoother to reduce the "soap opera effect" and action isn't stilted or juttered in any respect. The detail in darker scenes and the popping with the colors is exactly what sets this tv besides other brands. Watching nature documentaries in blu ray for this set is jaw dropping. Even Netflix HD looks killer for this. If what you really are interested in is picture quality and believe the extra money to the GT will provide you with a better picture then save your money and obtain the ST. Even cnet stands out on the ST in the GT based solely for the price vs picture performance. If you're within a strict budget but require a top tier tv ST would it be however, if you truly have money to spare then skip both ST and GT and have the VT and have it professionally calibrated and you will get the most effective hdtv ever produced yet just ask any Kuro owner that has seen the 2010 VT.
Winner winner chicken dinner
Where I'm received from: I can't use 3D. I personally don't like motion blur but I also hate "smoothing" technology. I have not upgraded my sound yet so I'm using the stock speakers. Cleaning it once a 3 plasmas from 2011 and every you some form of flicker or brightness pop that's just unacceptable. Here's my review.
IQ: Simply better than what I have come across in the same cost of last years plasmas and this years LED. The colors are equipped for natural skin color and vibrant digital images. My family and i randomly say "wow" before the blu-rays. It's really impressive. Thing about this success I attribute to...
Black levels: I became never out for top black levels as it seemed to be expensive to have "the best". Seeing that I have a TV with amazing black levels I am aware the draw and i also must say it is worth it to get that out while shopping. Dark scenes make you stay immersed in what are you doing and still delivers amazing detail in blacks and grays that a lot of likely were lost on other TVs. A very important factor stood out in my experience, the bezel along with the letterboxes are similar color black. I never got the impression I was watching a show with letterboxes at all. Neat.
Glare: Glare is tough to rate since people have different setups. I've a slider behind me while watching TV and through the afternoon it isn't really bad after some down tilt due to my wall mount. I don't do much daytime viewing so it will be not turned into a problem.
Stand: The television stand is sturdy but quite deep. It requires up my entire entertainment center top (~15"). You will find zero adjustments to make like tilt or swivel so I could see that base creating issues if you are planning about it being anything other than straight on viewing without deeper furniture.
Bezel: The ST30 really was ugly. It played an element in why Some buy it. This year's is quite a noticable difference i think it is stylish and slim.
Sound: Very few people rate the stock sound as if they are buying a TV this nice they normally use something higher end for your. However i haven't done that yet so I'm making due. I'm happy to report how the sound is head and shoulders above another TVs on the market. So good marks there if that is something you are going to use.
Remote/Menu/Web/Phone app: The remote is okay. The buttons feel clunky and older, nonetheless they get the job done. There is a backlight nonetheless it leaves out a number of the more essential buttons like pause and play. Grr. The menu for selecting the several apps is decent. I think they tried to help it become seem very interactive and 3D however it stumbled on corny. There's a very annoying button-press beep on by default that may be switched off within the options. The phone app running off my Galaxy S2 was laggy. I would never actually use so I throw it in the gimmick folder.
Packaging: Comes packaged rather effectively. Decent instructions on installing the base in the forefront but a lackluster manual.
Final: I'm thrilled with this TV. Cleaning it once a to come up with any flaw I can so when you can see there are not many serious offenses to report. Should you be on the fence about what to acquire I'm hoping this assists lean you by doing this as you really can't get it wrong here. I spent the last 3 months very frustrated with all the TVs I bought/returned. I finally get the throw away this area. That's quite an endorsement. Make certain you disable the smoothing. It's set to "weak" automagically but you'll still obtain the jitters and that "live TV" look.
Best Picture I have ever seen
I do desire to give a plug here on the AVSFORUM guys. I really appreciate the recommendation on this one and am glad I bought this one rather than last years model.
BUY THIS TV!
You will likely be amazed.
You will receive your TV, open it immediately--admire its beauty momentarily, inspect it for physical defects, know that it is indeed factory mint, turn it on, switch it on, mind blown. Well something of that nature. I've heard professional reviewers say there's no such thing as being a perfect TV. But, it's to get closest thing.
The Design:
I spent 30-45 days doing research on what TV to get for that basement of my new home--I went from investigating only LCDs (a mentality that is certainly really 3-years old now), to debating between Samsung and Panasonic Plasmas. The research on reviews/pricing was clear--Panasonic's mid-range model edged Samsung's with regards to Quality/Capabilities. Still--this TV sits in the primary entertaining room during my new house, as well as the 2011 Panasonics just looked dated. Even though I can have save $200-300 by choosing last years model, the glass trim and slim profile are simply sooo Hot, particularly over a wall mount. Not too mention--the TV shed 24 pounds (or 28%) from last year's model. It differs slightly from your comparable Samsung's since the bottom two corners with the glass trim are cut at the 45 degree angle instead of rounded like Samsung.
The Picture:
I also have this TV to get a little over 2 weeks now. I use my TV for PS3, TV (Dish), Bluerays (some 3D).
For Game titles: Truly stunning--I play plenty of FIFA 12 (soccer computer game), it's fascinating to view an airborne soccer-ball spin with complete lifelike detail. Zero Blur. Zero Ghosting. I use either the 'Vivid' or 'Game' picture presets for videogames. Colors will be more rich, and the screen is a little brighter--good for Cartoons and Video games-- but a bit to blue and bright for lifelike pictures.
For HDTV/BlueRay: HD quality is perfect--you are able to see the goosebumps on our skin clearly, colors are simply so real, and motion is perfect. There aren't any distractions pixelation/blurring/motion--the picture is seemless, and you may just enjoy the programming. I used the custom David Katzmaier recommended picture settings for HD/Blueray Viewing.
For 3D: Maybe, I have not experienced enough Active 3D to compare, as reviews have said this may be a hang up the phone with this TV. But in my opinion, the 3D is definitely mind-blowing. The image loses none of the company's real life quality. Their are ZERO headaches--I've watched Avatar 3D twice, once with my lady, nor individuals experienced any crossover, ghosting, or one of the other concerns which make us loathe going to 3D in theaters. 3D viewing is definitely stunning. Even the 2D-->3D feature--although it lacks the depth in the true 3D content--has no problems. I use the Katzmaier settings along with the new Panasonic Blue Tooth 3D Glasses for viewing 3D content.
The Web Content:
I found Viera Connect's interface being extremely easy to use, and liked generate income could still see things i was watching while i explored the net apps. Set up took two seconds when I first switched on the tv screen, and i also usually acheive 1080p quality even when streaming previews from Hulu or Vudu, along with the picture is really as good as my Dish HD Channels. I never have bought any movies this way yet.
The only hangup: It truly does need a different head unit to get a true media experience. There is definitely no bass or lows in the integrated speakers, as well as the sound is a little hollow. I also noticed the TV's speakers do start buzzing (distorting) when I would boost the volume above 70 (of 100). I did get an audio system--and it almost brings tears to my eyes how great my in-home entertainment method is for all under $2000. I jest about the tears.
Bottom Line: Unbelievable TV--Unbelievable Value to get the best of the Line Picture/features.
An absolutely wondeful TV.
First, allow me to say this: Someone said many reviews discussing "buzzing" sounds emitted from the ST50. Quite honestly, it nearly kept me from buying this TV. The fact is, it's simply not an issue. I've arrive at concluding how the people that wrote those reviews either have a defective unit or don't know plasma tvs generally. Based how they work, it's entirely normal for plasmas to create a usually inaudible buzz. On this television, I sit anywhere from 3 feet (when playing FIFA on the Xbox) to 12 feet (when watching movies) away. Under any normal circumstances, I hear no buzz whatsoever. In order to post any hint of a buzz, I must mute the television and only (1) place my head within one foot in the screen, or (2) stand behind the set. Just about every plasma within the universe will perform the same. I've not needed to "tune anything out" or "learn to ignore" any noise. I just don't read it (and my hearing is fine).
Before buying the ST50, I chose to exchange from my old plasma to some current LED-LCD set. So I aquired a Samsung ES6500. In the beginning, I appreciated how much brighter it had been than my old TV, and it appeared to be very sleek and easily fit into well with my family room. But when I actually started to view tv, I became disappointed. Fast motion (in spite of the image-enhancement software on) caused images to blur and turn into somewhat jaggy. Football and soccer were challenging watch, which is putting it generously. Also, I noticed some light bleeding in from your edges (a tad bit more research demonstrated that it was because of the LED light location, and would have been to be likely). I wasn't happy, i returned it for the ST50.
I'm *really* glad Used to. The ST50 is fantastic. On my prior plasma screen, I encountered what is known as "the screen door effect" -- i.e., when you can see individual pixels and certain objects will appear very slightly blocky. On that one? Nothing of the sort. The picture is perfectly bright, totally smooth, and intensely crisp. The sharp picture is made better by the fact that the blacks on the watch's screen are very, very deep and offset the colors perfectly (quite unlike the LED). Sports look incredible, and flicks and games look good, whatever distance I'm sitting out of the screen. I also need to point out that I've even if it's just tweaked the calibration...the image settings are some of the four default modes (uncertain what type, but all four look wonderful)
Also, a huge trouble with some plasmas (including my last one) can be an annoying glossiness that causes many reflections. I've got no clue what Panasonic did here (they refer to it as Louver technology, whatever that's), however it is awesome. It's not the matte anti-reflective coating that blurs images, however it still does an admirable job of keeping reflections from showing up. One of the finest options that come with the TV, without a doubt.
I've got 4 pairs of 3D glasses (sold separately, unfortunately), but I don't use the 3D function around the TV. It's okay, but, honestly....it simply doesn't interest me. I think it's really a fad, that i'm untrained to check it, because I'll probably don't use anything but it when people want to see how 3DTV looks and won't accept my answer of: "Like 2D, yet it's dimmer, and it provides you with a headache."
The sound's okay. It's what you'd expect from a flat-screen's internal speakers. I make use of them each day, and I have no complaints. No real praises to sing...but no complaints, either.
Do the study, look at reviews, and check out the expert recommendations. The majority apparently acknowledge a very important factor: this TV is the better one inch or near its cost point, and possibly the most effective overall buy this year. I'm inclined to agree.
In short, if for not one other reason, the image for the TV causes it to be completely worth every penny. Bright just as one LED, smooth as a plasma, sharp as anything around. If you have the marketplace for a TV around the $1,000 - $1,500 price range...this is the one you would like.
Excellent Picture
I offer an 11.2 speakers, so I don't utilize the built in speakers and don't care the way they sound.
I don't used the net apps since a laptop is more preferable at doing anything on the net than any TV. They're fun to learn with, but week after week, you're superior off utilizing a computer. Who would like to have a look at youtube on the tv of the caliber. It's like getting a lamborgini and complaining regarding how it handles in city driving. I take advantage of the television for true high def content and just that (blu-ray and FIOS). Not crappy looking netflix streaming that people think is HD, but isn't.
I think 3D looks great. I have 2 pairs from the better panasonic glasses that cost around $55 each (To the wife and that i) and 3 pairs in the samsung glasses that cost under $20 each (for him or her). All glasses work great. My lady, who never cares about technology, asks me to obtain more 3D movie rentals.
My TV faces east, so every day there's some glare. It does not handle it great. No TV does. Every TV could have a bright spot the place where a bright windows reflects off it. Even more as opposed to runners. Whether or not this bothers you, it's going to bother you regardless how good it are at attempting to shine through it. I've curtains to close that completely eliminates any glare.
Burn in wasn't an issue. I purposely haven't allowed my kids to connect a system. They are able to use our older HDTV's for games. They don't seem to care. Even on our older panasonic plasma, there were image retention from games located on all day long, but never burn in. You may see the image with all the tv if you looked closely, but never noticed anything watching normal TV shows. The retention always disappeared before long.|
Best set I've ever owned....
Panasonic has to let users disable ABL!
Most viewers defintely won't be suffering from ABL, since it only really comes into effect when there are many white or near-white color on screen, after which the screen dims noticeably, with whites looking more like grays. Many people have dubbed this the 'hockey effect', because it is gonna constantly dim the screen as long as you're watching a hockey game. Myself, I enjoy get together the pc and play movies or investigate web. The moment I placed a window with numerous white, the screen goes dim.
Aside from that frustrating annoyance, it becomes an excellent tv set. Contrast and blacks apparently rival the NX720 from my experience, as well as the exterior design is a bit more tasteful and trim when compared with last year's models. The on-screen menus aren't as slick because competition's, however i rather such as the no-frills style, and also the menu organization is among the most best I have come across.
Two minor gripes: the controller feels cheap, and there are simply 3 HDMI ports. To obtain a fourth, you'd have to pay another $350 for the following boost, the GT50. At least to the 55 inchers. But overall that is an excellent TV, rivaling more costly LEDs on the other hand and blacks, while wearing superior viewing angles and no flashlighting.
Perfect Picture, you are unable to have a better tv, definitely not for the price.
Zero buzzing. I has strongly considered the Samsung until someone said every one of the buzz buzz bad reviews.
For individuals who have brightness/glare concerns, this screen will do bright then there is very little glare. My home is an east-facing top floor corner apt which has seven large windows (4 for the east wall, 3 on the south wall) and i also have a 20x20 skylight; my apt is incredibly bright. No problem whatsoever. The screen does an incredible job of filtering out over-head light. In case you walk around the tv and look upon the screen, it becomes extremely dim, which is precisely what you desire from an overhead view. As soon as you walk away, the pic is perfect, especially at or over eye level. Viewing angles are good for all angles (except for looking directly recorded on the television from point blank range); clear.
The sound is superb for any television, however i have a very 5.1 set up, and i also recommend a similar to all.
The handheld remote control is a pos. I do not really care, I'll obtain a harmony as well.
The picture can be so incredibly clear and real. No over-saturated colors, not retina burning over-brightness. It looks perfect.
I did about 20 hours of research before you make this purchase. in early going it struck me i could probably get yourself a huge tv, with one of the top pictures, a much cheaper option than the other competitors. It really didn't sound right until I continued reading and reading. Eventually it became clear that most everyone has Little idea what they're referring to in relation to tv tech.
Here's some of the things close friends and family (who claimed to stay the know) had to say (all idiotic, and completely uninformed):
"You can't possibly consider plasma anymore. It's too f@#king heavy as well as the picture goes bad after a time. LED will be the best option. I've been thru all of them, and LED is plainly the top, the thinnest, the lightest, etc."
"I would opt for OLED. So LCD is a thin display by having an LED backlight thus there aren't any "true blacks" as you can bleedthrough. For OLED, when the individual OLED is showing black, it is in reality powered down completely. Really the only downside, but the margin is thinning, could be the lifespan of OLED monitors. Should you be not watching much though, then who cares. What's more, it costs a bit more. But it's essentially the most cutting edge from the three. Plasma just cold sucks."
"LED--no brainer"
"it is a tv, not just a work of genius! What are you seeking it to perform in your case? just buy a cheap one that will fit where you wish it to and view it as na investment."
"I looked over every one of them this spring, in my experience the LED would be a better value. Head to tigerdirect.com, determine if you will discover an agreement."
"Plasma is the oldest technology and supposedly the srcreen eventually burns out. We have one of several originals in fact it is still awesome. LCD is newer technology, LED the latest technology. Both have better viewing angles. LED is the brightest picture and i believe the most effective technology now with the widest viewing angle. I do not think you are able to get it wrong with any of them. All of them are good. The differences are mainly diminimus."
"Patrick & I purchased the hype and obtained a 60in LED. It had been just the thing for hockey but made movies resemble home videos. It absolutely was a deal breaker. Took out back and got a plasma. No looking back."
Do not pay attention to your idiot friends. They're merely parroting the nonsense that they can hear other folks say. Thank (fake) god I did not pay attention to anyone and did my own, personal research. Oh and, it is like an inch and a half thick. How that is certainly "so big", if it is looking at a wall ten feet away, is beyond my comprehension. Who cares if LED's are light and thin, do you think you're carrying your tv from work each day?
If you read each one of these reviews (and comments), then execute a extra reading on avsforums and hidefjunkies, no one is able any reasonable person will come away with anything but complete certainty until this tv is a screaming deal, and most importantly, one of the best pictures available, at any price tag.

UPDATE:
Two weeks later, I must alter my review regarding brightness/dimness:
1) Watching Bet on thrones using DNice's settings, I came across the image becoming a bit too dim, to the stage that we needed to seek out a different. I could Vivid, which for some viewing is much too fake and saturated nevertheless for Game of Thrones it seemed pretty good (for SNL it absolutely was awful and DNice's settings were perfect). Cinema mode has also been better though the colors just weren't as ...errr colorful. Game mode was also decent.
2) In a very brightly lit room with a sunny day, Dnice's setting will probably be too dim for pretty much everyone. One other settings worked pretty much though for still delighted overall. I have to find a new setting which i could overwrite among the default settings therefore i would use that in day light hours, then mostly use DNice's settings in nighttime hours (aside from Bet on Thrones and other fantasy based programming, where color saturation actually seems to fit this content, rather than the news or SNL where real colors seem natural for the eye).
I'd want to hear some feedback about this.

Love the image on this set
ST50 vs. St30
ST50 is has greater black levels. These are so deep it's difficult to determine if the tv screen is fired up without signal. Unlike last years model which had good blacks, this set has outstanding black levels. Best We've personally witnessed over a TV. With controlled lighting the inside bars blend in with the bezel of the set and disappear.
Brightness: This set gets noticeably brighter than my ST30 and not at the expense of image quality for instance over-saturation of colours. I never really felt like I possibly could dial inside ST30 to my liking.
Reflections: I had all the light turned on in my viewing space which set is MASSIVELY better at handling room reflections in comparison with the ST30. It does so well that it must be much like you happen to be watching a TV having a matte screen instead of a glass one. Incredible. You should just be sure you hang this set so that it is either on the center of your respective view or perhaps a little higher, not lower. The anti glare operates by dampening light throughout and also you would loose image quality when you have to look into visualize it.
Clarity: Much cleaner looking and clearer looking image with both still images and motion. I am pretty astounded in the overall image quality upgrade between your st30 and st50. It has all of the good characteristics of the Samsung plasma line. Great natural color, clean noise free image, nice bright picture and chic modern design using the benefits of some tips i feel Panasonic has always done better (Black levels and Motion) The ST30 sometimes a dirty image according to the content. This set handles inferior signals far better.
So in my experience this new set generally is the best of the two Samsung and Panasonic worlds. Think of it as being a mixture of the VT30 and D8000 which in my opinion is a perfect blend.
I did not notice any buzzing which plagued my ST30. Minimal line bleed that has been also and issue around the Samsung models and the ST30.
I have never tested nor should i desire to test the Viera Connect features. There are lots of cheap alternatives to utilizing your Television set as being a media hub that it a lot better than a TV will. I purchased a TV for starters and one thing only, its image quality and satisfaction and i also haven't been more impressed. Panasonic upped their game greatly this coming year. I would not observe how anyone may be unhappy with this TV if picture and gratifaction are your priorities. This set is definately a major improvement over last years model in a very strange way I will be almost happy I broke my old set (sounds awful however it is that big of your improvement)
I am still debating easily need to return the 55st50 and get a 60st50 but in either case...it's an awesome plasma.
Amazon: OUTSTANDING service. I ordered this set around 4pm Monday and was hanging on my small wall at 9am today. Flawless process as always. Great professional delivery.
I have returned and purchased tons of items from Amazon and there's not really a better online vendor to deal with. I can't say how impressed I am with this particular last transaction. A big thanks is out to Amazon.
EDIT: Decided to swap your 55st50 with the 60st50. Can't get it wrong in either case. As always Amazon was extremely easy to work with regarding the swap. the 60 will replace this 55 within 6 days.
EDIT: Have been enjoying the 60st50. No negatives I'm able to develop the larger set either.
Great 3DTV for your price!!!
To start things off, I never own a plasma or lcd screen television. I personally was around the Samsung DLP hype for your longest time because of the fact that when something were to happen (i.e. picture issue) I most likely could fix it without professional help. Well two bulbs plus a requirement for a brand new DLP chip (White Dots, Google it if you're not familiar with that issue) I chose to shop around for a new TV around my b-day. This television really stood out if you ask me in several ways. I have defiantly had enough time to tinker using this type of device to offer a significant rundown. I had been really planning to wait and hold on until the 4K glasses-less 3D TVs were going to emerge, but hearing what everyone was saying about needing to sit directly before the TV (sweet spot) for everybody to find out it seemed type of ridiculous. Oh and who's roughly $11,000 to get a TV anyway...
For starters, piecing together this television required erogenous look over to put together. I personally build it without any help in about Twenty or so minutes. Yes this thing does weigh about 90 lbs. I was skeptical in the beginning lifting it by myself but everything helped the best.
Once I switched on the the telly I immediately updated the firmware to be sure I had everything possible within my fingertips. Honestly I've yet to utilize the built in apps. This is due to the fact which i use this mainly as my living room computer monitor/man cave television. Netflix, Youtube, Pandora can be applied to other devices that are equipped to my multichannel, so I genuinely have no use for the children. However, In case you personally would not have access to devices of the nature (xbox 360 system, ps3, ect.) then yes it is just a good thing to own. The interface seemed a bit slow, however i hold nothing against that when you didn't purchase the TV just to have use applications.
I was "cautious" with the first 100 hours of use on my TV. There's been no "burn in", but regardless of whether there was, hell that maybe what a long warranty is for.
The picture is actually good. Mess with the settings people! Some reviewers have established that it is "bland" with all the stock settings. That is why you modify the settings to your liking. There are various guides out there who have "ideal settings". Uncompressed 1080p video looks great. I have already watched about 20 blu-ray movies plus they look nice. Black levels are excellent. I must say 1080p footage of anything looks great, probably not as good as something like 4K, that is about a year from now. For those who such as the 600hz feature, like myself, (i.e. - the "Soap Opera Effect, whoever invented that term in a moron) it can be nice to view internet video the actual way it was suppose to become (i.e. 60+fps... it is possible to thank Youtube limits for that) and also television programs normally shot at film 24fps. You'll be able to turn it off, or decrease/increase the strength of motion smoother through the tv's options. If you need free content in 3D continue Youtube and encourage the Side-by-side 3D effect if possible on videos. Then manually set your tv to 3D SBS from the 3D button and also the red button the during your remote. It no less than will give you the concept of what 3D seems like as 3D blu-rays are CRAZY OVERPRICED!!! Await the crooks to go down or maybe rent them online from one from the 3D blu-ray rental sites. 3D blu-rays look excellent too. Toy Story along with the new Tron looked fantastic! Again the media is limited as to the exists but it's a really cool feature. BTW Avatar is just not sold as they are on 3D blu-ray before this review being written. You must have it 1 of 3 ways. You should buy the ridiculously overpriced 3D glasses set (thanks panasonic!), carry on Ebay and pay roughly on the top quality of approximately $100 for this, otherwise you can wait and finally as soon as the exclusive rights are up, buy it on its own.
The big factor for this that most people want to know about may be the 3D. Can it be worth every penny?
I would say yes. I really do such as the 3D. DirecTV comes with a few 3D channels that you should view. Sports and documentaries look wonderful! I can see the next with those definitely. Gaming for this TV is mind-blowing in 3D. The PS3 offers many titles to view in 3D. Can it cause you to be an improved player seeing depth and judge things differently? No. It does however enable you to observe how detailed the programmers get with your games are permits you to view these questions different way. I did have to move the in game sliders to discover that "sweet spot" i really didn't feel like I became gonna go cross eyed. I hated the end results in the beginning but realized the consequences were just too high. I never really experienced those "headaches" everyone has reported. The Xbox 360 console does do 3D but Black Ops is really the only game I might use it. Before I forget, I truly do should point out that gaming on the home consoles does limit (atleast the ten games I tried) to 30FPS. Not a deal breaker, but for Cod players who choose 60FPS you will see a difference in action.
To enhance the 3D, the 2D to 3D effect is ehh.... It truly doesn't do much, maybe the greater end models it will because the have face detection but no it really doesn't do much.
The audio... well I wouldn't know as We have my Onkyo receiver to achieve that. Other reviews have asserted the speakers are decent for TV speakers.
Inputs you receive 3 HDMI, 2 USB, an Files, an element adapter to plug in the TV, and a coaxial plug. You is equipped with an optical out, but I will not use it.
Overall I am pretty pleased with this particular TV. I'm glad I future proofed after i bought my Onkyo HT-S5300. It's nice having one remote control all devices. Keep in mind to complete 3D you will need HDMI 1.4 cables and Panasonic active shutter glasses. The glasses are reduced price than these folks were before. I became lucky to receive two during a special among the "Big Box" stores was having. Purchase then through Amazon and please for that passion for god order HDMI cables through Amazon also. These are A lot CHEAPER Like that!!!
I have no life because of this TV
The picture quality is better than I'd ever expect. It wrecks LED's. The brightness is great, the is unbeatable, and the image retention has been virtually non existent for my moderate game / TV use.
The only problem with buying this TV is the complete loss of a dating life and phone with the rest of the world that is included with it. But also in your global where people put leashes on their own kids, and sweaters on their own dogs, maybe that's not a bad thing..
Not to note it came looking and dealing as it was brand new. Not just a flaw available. For $1,200.00 it was a bargain.
A++ for amazon warehouse!
Outstanding HDTV
First, I'm happy with my Samsung. It's took its little quibbles like brightness pops and faint buzzing that most plasmas will exhibit but the picture is fantastic along with the price was right. It's strong suits would be the incredibly accurate color presentation, deep black levels and strong video processing. The 3D display, though I do not use it much, is superb with minimal ghosting and cross-talk. Equipped by having an excellent suite of online apps, sans Amazon Instant. Designed beautifully that actually is considered the centerpiece of our entertainment center.
That said, it is a wonder simply how much one full year makes. Panasonic's mid-tier ST50 beats my TV, second highest tier of Samsung's plasma lineup this past year. I've been investigating their new Panasonic on and off the past month and I noted a few differences relating to the P60ST50 along with the PN59D7000.
I won't write a totally detailed review that we usually do because I don't own this TV however i can identify that this ST50 is superior:
It has slightly better blacks. It's subtle but nonetheless discernable with all the naked eye. I can't believe anyone can find an affordable TV on this size using this type of a higher level black.
Color is great. Read which it isn't as accurate as my Samsung however it is very difficult to tell using the human eye alone after dialing in the pictures. Colors do "pop" like my display.
Shadow detail is slightly better on this TV. This one was very hard to tell also however i think there's a better dark scene detail than mine. Perhaps that's because of the slightly better blacks.
Bright picture to get a plasma. It may be tuned to some bright picture, almost on LCD level. This is important towards the purchasers while they have this of their family area. If you intend on obtaining a plasma for the room with a few daylight, think about this TV. We also viewed the Samsung E6500 nevertheless it didn't seem very bright. My TV is bright. I do not know if the new Samsungs are tuned down on purpose or otherwise.
Great group of features like wifi, the important suite of online stuff including Amazon Instant which my TV doesn't have.
3D display is excellent. Again, read the Samsung does a better job but I couldn't tell using my Shrek 3D Bluray. Perhaps there was clearly more noise within the Panny's display but couln't figure it out with my eyes and I have come across some LCDs with terrible 3D display. The ST50 also was included with 3D glasses unlike my TV.
No brightness pops. I'm hoping Samsung comes out which has a firmware fix soon for my TV. Been waiting awhile. It doesn't bother me much but it is among issues that seem very fixable. The ST50 didn't show the brightness pop effect.
Buzzing was faint. Like most plasmas, there is a slight buzz especially in bright scenes. The phosphors are firing hard and is really a slight buzz. Many people complain relating to this however it is so slight in fact it is inherent in the plasma technology will be able to dismiss it. The ST50's buzz might be more muted than my Samsung. Of course in the event the set is consistently buzzing or if buzzes loud enough to overtake the speakers as there are a problem.
Ambient light handling is excellent. It has these new louvered filters to help you with reflections. Again, using this TV within the lounge by incorporating natural lighting, it becomes an important feature. Does a fantastic job in internet marketing like my TV does. I cannot tell which does a better job but read the ST50 does. From a few things i will easily notice it's pretty close.
This is an excellent TV. It costs less than I paid this past year for my TV at year end discount and still offers a overall better picture. We looked over the PN60E6500, which we almost bought bc it can be $200 cheaper and it has an incredible picture but nevertheless preferred the brightness in the ST50. We debated on in the event the brightness was worth $200... until the sales guy brought the retail price down $150 on the ST50. This TV provides you with the high quality and features that you would have had paid much more to get a last year.
Everything I hoped it would be
This is my first HD Flat panel TV that i'm ecstatic about this one. My absolute goal ended up being get yourself a TV with no horrible soap opera effect and oversaturated colors so many are now accepting as normal. I don't want Television shows and films to take a look like these were shot using a home video camera. I do not want a TV to have to do tricks with motion control to hide the belief that it wouldn't display fast action scenes without tearing or ghosting. I don't want to stop trying picture simply to get a super flat TV having a thin bezel. The ST50 was everything I was hopng for
I have this wall mounted also it was very light and to move.
**Network
Was able to connect with my wireless network without issue and execute a software update. I really believe it had been at 1.120 out of the box but the update took it to a single.140. To update the firmware visit Menu > Network > Software Update. I streamed several 720p and 1080p movies on the Wi-Fi from my Synology NAS via Seagate theater+ and delay surprisingly well. If I didn't have such a strong Wi-Fi signal I'd attach it for the LAN with all the Ethernet port.
**Picture
Wow! Everything I had been longing for. There is nothing like dropping a big chunk of dough and then having that sick feeling which you bought an unacceptable thing. I have no regrets with all the ST50. Natural color, stunning HD cable and blu-ray. Fast motion is flawless no soap opera effect. As others have said as is also the typical setting just isn't so competent and the motion smoother is scheduled to Weak. Check out highdefjunkies.com for calibrator settings and break-in slides. I've been pretty satisfied with the settings below but I'm still tweaking / learning with all the pro settings.

I never have had any issues with ABL or FBR. If this TV did the things others have hated I'd personally still find it very annoying. So far so good
There is a noticeable buzzing sound when displaying large white or light scenes and there is no sound. When there exists sound in the TV or another ambient sounds I would not notice this in any way.
**Reflection about this set is minimal. I have windows behind and alongside this TV in the fairly bright room. There isn't distracting reflections and the screen isn't pale.
**Sound
Now obviously the internal sound is not going to replace your external audio system however i ought to repeat the sound is much much better than I expected. Sounds and speech are solid and clear at high and low volume levels and can bridge the gap for folks not normally pleased with built-in speakers but don't wish to additional a system.
**3D
I didn't worry about 3D in any respect. I couldn't have cared less if it TV been with them or not speculate it did I picked up a couple of 3D glasses with an IMAX 3D movie to check against each other. Way cooler than I thought it might be now I'm glad I have it. I'm no expert in 3D i really can't speak to the crosstalk issues some of the reviews refer to. For me it truely does work well i view it just as one unexpected bonus.
I'll add to this review once I've tested one other great features. So far I couldn't be happier with the ST50
I would recommend the ST50 line to anyone who is half-way thinking about a fresh TV
I attempted to get my Harmony remote to do business with the ST50. I entered the model number in the setup software, however the system only comes up using the TC-P50ST50 (the similar TV, merely a smaller size). All from the commands are expected Aside from the IR command for switching the input right to Cable/Ant. All in the other input IR commands work (switch the signal from HDMI1, HDMI2, etc). This was causing me problems with switching inputs. Some tips i did to solve it absolutely was put a delay inside the Harmony software, it was 1 sec, I changed it to a few sec. The issue went away. The remote now switches inputs smoothly.
There has become much discussed the image quality of the TC-P60ST50 line. All I will have to say is I possibly could not believe the reviewers more. The colours pop as well as the blacks have become inky black. The gray levels are good too. My Old TV was Toshiba 46 inch Table Top RPTV. I aquired it in 2004. One of the first things I saw was while i was playing Burn Out Paradise City for the PS3. It was nighttime, hanging around. The simplest way I can describe it really is it looked like late Dusk time frame. Old TV felt enjoy it was midnight, you can not see the cars/poles in your way. You merely hoped nothing what food was in right onto your pathway. Text is a lot shaper and readable.
I debated the ST50 vs GT50 models. The most important difference I saw was the calibration settings, THX picture mode. If you wish to set up the ST50 picture quickly, use Movie Mode setting. If you would like calibrated picture look on Plasmatvbuyingguide.com and CNet.com for the overview of the Panasonic TC-P60ST50. Inside articles they have got the calibrated picture setting both of them used. I simply averaged both and I think the image looks FANASTIC.
Now obviously the built-in sound certainly won't replace your external audio system but I ought to the sound is much superior to I expected. Sounds and speech are solid and clear at everywhere volume levels and can bridge the gap for those not normally satisfied with built-in speakers such as the desire to add on an external system.
For those with a A/V system the television has ARC, on input #2. My receiver didn't have ARC. And so i used the optical rid of TV. I just read, before I bought the TV, how the TV is merely passing Dolby digital two channels signals. I'm very happy to report which is False. I am having the full 5.1 audio from TV broadcast and from Netflix. The audio is neat and clear in the optical out.
There is a noticeable buzzing sound when displaying large white colored or light scenes and there's no sound. If you find sound through the TV and other ambient sounds I do not notice this buzzing in any respect.
Some people mentioned how much heat the ST50 put out. All I'm able to compare it to is our older Panasonic TH-42PX80U. The PX80U gets much warmer. That model is often a 42 inch TV. The P60ST50 generates, I'm guessing, about not even half heat I have felt from your PX80U. I would say the 60 inch TV is much more efficient compared to TH-42PX80U. The P60ST50 runs relativity cool considering its size.
This is a side note. My receiver only has 2 optical in's. An example may be for that DVD player along with the other is perfect for the TV. To obtain my Original Xbox utilizing its HD adapter I'd to purchase an adapter from MonoPrice, #5971. It will take in Component Video and optical audio and sends out a HDMI signal. It truely does work great as well as for $40 you cannot beat the quality. I became very happy to find the MonoPrice product.
Overall An excellent opportunity the ST50 line to anyone who is half-way thinking about a fresh TV. I've not yet found something I don't like about the TV. The only thing could be why I waited some yearn for another one.
Best TV (value) for 1st 1 / 2 of 2012 - Maybe for the whole year!
I got the (new) 60inch for $1,5999 on 5/25/12 that is probably an error because the 55 was $1,549 as well but my purchase still had. A short time later Amazon upped the price to $1,777.
Ok therefore i thought we would purchase this set after reading and watching the ST50's reviews on Cnet and AVSForums. Honestly, after a while it's possible to really over think/over research a purchase order so at some point your just gonna desire to be done and buying one.
The picture for the TV is Amazing. Yes it is a little (really just a little) for the darker side (I'm using CNET settings) but I think individuals are confusing shadow detail and depth to being dark. Needless to say if you raise up the brightness to 100 it will get brighter however you loose a great amount of detail. Please please please do not use that "Vivid" setting. Should you must watch it in a bright room, Game mode could be a good choice.
The 3D options just a little off for me however I didnrrrt find the TV for it's 3D. Everyone that owns this TV should try the 3D (find the correct glasses) at some point to ascertain if they enjoy it. My thing about it is always that 3D even the ones within the theater give's us a headache due to my astigmatism.
I highly recommend the ST50 for the value and for the picture.|
Best of the best to the budget good quality plasma
Slim design.
Great Price(yes, it is dear but worth the cost., you will understand this once you buy this tv as well as your friends comeover and puzzle to find out the image quality in comparison to their HDTVS LEDS Etc...)
To mention the tv screen is little heavy than other led lcd tvs. because its plasma.
TV base stand assembly is very easy and dynamic.
Why to shell out 1300+ for plasma as you get 1000 LED LCD or LCD... only one answer.. Black Levels. LED LCDS cannot produce black levels as efficient as plasma.
Cnet review is very good. even consumer reports rated the tv screen as recommended.
GT VT Panasonic models too deliver same movie experience however with additional features and other processor for graphic handling. but expensive.
Suggesstion to make low buget home thearter: Yamaha 373 AV Receiver 220 Bestbuy or 250 amazon.
Energy 5.1 Take classic 399.99 price didn't change from 2009 + Panasonic BDT 220 costs about 109 from costo or 114 from amazon. RCA Speakers cable 8 dollars are so + Sub Woofer cable 13-20 dollars.
i have inked the above home theatre and incredibly very happy. Amazing TV+AV RECEIVER+ ENERGY SPEAKERS+ Panasonic Blue ray dvd Player BDT220.

Fantastic TV without having real downsides.
One with the reasons I'd considered an LED TV was that of the lighting weight and slim, sexy profile found on the higher-end models that's just the thing for wall mounting and great looking. At the same time, LED TV's concerned me because of the insufficient image quality present in lower-end models, with issues including edge bleeding and non-uniform lighting a genuine problem. Eventually I reached the conclusion that and discover an LED TV that will satisfy my demands for image quality, that I would have to find a true led-backlit model which at 55" costs above $2K.
On the opposite hand, this Viera offers arguably better display quality when compared to a backlit LED TV due to it's deep black levels, while still creating a profile nearly as thin because the newest LED TV's. This 55" model only weighs aboout 60 lbs wall-mounted, comes with a incredibly thin bezel, and also a depth around just one.5 inches for the sides, extending to ~2 inches for the middle. It's a far cry from your 135lb 4.5-inch thick 5-year old 58" Panasonic Viera Plasma which i helped an associate find previously. Once calibrated, colors are crisp and vibrant, as well as the black levels are really dark it's tough to imagine that your're investigating a TV. After disabling some of the useless post-processing features, input-lag for 1080P PC Gaming is literally non-existent.
In regards to a number of the potential negatives a few fellow reviewers have mentioned, I'd like to say that I have not experienced any of them. To me there is absolutely no audible buzzing once the unit is running, and i also sit no more than 7-8 feet out of the TV typically. I've watched 4:3 movies cropped with black bars, played games with permanent logos, and in addition left static images running on the screen probably longer than I would have, but I haven't experienced any type of fade or burn-in whatsoever.
The only downside I could imagine that may turn someone off belongs to power consumption, as I measured the machine pulling around 350-400 watts while running using the included sensor on my battery-backup UPS. But honestly, the stellar image quality is certainly worth every penny. I've owned 2 plasma and a couple of regular LCD's of various sizes just before this TV, and do not require come close with regards to the selection of color or depth in the black levels. The only display Personally i have tried that is certainly comparable is my PC monitor, a 27" 1440P Samsung IPS Panel which has a a little more vibrant array of color but nowhere close to the level of uniformity or black levels offered by the Viera. To put it briefly, I don't think you would be able to find a greater quality image anywhere remotely near to this budget for the 55" TV.
Overall Interestingly Good.
Didn't need to spend $$$ with children and that i wanted a plasma again. Therefore i researched. That led me to Panasonic. I'll be honest. I always thought Panasonic was some of those low-budget Dollar Store brands. I became wrong...
I chose this TV on the GT and VT because of children possibly breaking a better value ($$$) device. Moreover I felt I really could equal high of the GTs performance with an above average calibration. (Although I suppose the price tag on the calibration might equal getting the GT). I additionally chose this TV depending on research and testimonials on various websites.
While I believe the Samsung I owned was overall more beautiful in design, this TV carries a Superior picture. I used to be surprised. When it came to watching movies, I had been a lot more impressed. Perhaps Some set my old Samsung up correctly, I am not sure. I could really tell the colors were more vivid along with the black detail was extreme (in awesomeness).
I am very delighted by this TV. From time to time If only I could have got the VT for 96Hz movies, then again I do think about the $$ and kids throwing toys advertising online and definately will just wait patiently. However, I truly do think this TV is fantastic regardless. I have a serious eye for quality, very picky the truth is; this revolutionary product is a good deal.
The TV dropped $150 a couple of days once i started using it and Amazon credited my account. Sweet.
I have zero complaints. The thrill is as minor mainly because it was in my Samsung. I liked the Samsung menu(s) more. Panasonics is a little lame, nonetheless it does its job. The Samsung had a few more settings for audio and burn in, but it was obviously a higher model I assume. My only dilemma is with all the type of 3D signal it sends out. That's not me a fan of RF although all of the mainstream research says Bluetooth isn't harmful, I just use a few issues wearing RF devices on my head for some hours to view a film. But... I rarely watch 3D as it's this also TV was a great value so I suppose I will watch 3D down the road using a non-RF TV replacement.
So there you have it. A no frills review from your no frills guy. It is simply sweet to consentrate if my son breaks this one, the heartache will not be the $$ it cost, however the picture it had. Because to know, there could not this kind of quality in a short time.
Get it whilst you can. The reviews speak by themselves.
Great price, great TV
Excellent Value Plasma for 2012
Styling
---------
First off, the styling with the Pannys in 2010 has greatly improved. Except for the flagship, that they had always had kind of a `homely' design but which has changed. For the ST50, they've got added transparent plastic around the angled black bezel that slightly resembles Samsung plasmas from years past. The set is nice and thin at 1.8" and it has an extremely modern looking silver stand. Overall I really like the design despite the fact that I think and also as slick as some competitors. The remote has additionally been improved somewhat i like it. It is backlit and the buttons feel great while being nicely sized, but for some reason its not all the buttons are lit. That is a drawback yet, very people actually utilize the TV remote for anything besides settings.
Features
----------
One big improvement was the screen filter. This set is within a space which includes quite a bit of daylight as well as the ST50 preserved blacks quite nicely with only somewhat washout and subdued reflections nicely, regardless if at extreme angles. It also handles night reflections from lights perfectly to get a plasma. Apparently this set carries a `louvre-type' filter that can help block reflections previously mentioned, and it's also extremely powerful.
As with Panasonic plasmas from years past, this model lacks the 96 Hz refresh rate to properly handle 1080p/24, as well as the bulk of users this can be not a problem. This set still handles movies perfectly i failed to see any artifacts. If you don't know what I'm talking about here, you won't miss this feature. Blu-rays are absolutely gorgeous with this set and upscaled dvd's are not far behind.
The ST50 has active 3D, but will not include glasses. However, it can secure the new universal standard this means more glasses should work this set. One couple of glasses was purchased i really briefly tested your 3D with Bolt. I'm not very fond of 3D, nevertheless the quality was very good high was minimal crosstalk. I haven't watched an excessive amount of 3D, but this set was no worse or a lot better than any others I have seen and maybe it absolutely was just my insufficient active 3D experience, but this didn't appear to darken the look as much as others.
The VieraCast `Smart TV' remains highly unchanged from this past year. Overall it's not hard to use and you may adjust items' locations, but occasionally it could be a bit slow to navigate. Not an issue, but something to know. The selection is nice using the usual ones: Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Vudu, YouTube, Skype, Facebook or anything else. Besides the conventional ones, there are numerous more available for sale where one can browse while still seeing that which you were watching. I believe there is a browser also, but I haven't tried that yet. I will update the review after i reach checking that out.
This set has 3 HDMI inputs that ought to be fine, but if for whatever reason you've greater than 4 HDMI devices and make use of a receiver it is something a person of. The GT50 adds a 4th input. It also uses breakout cables for composite and component input due to thinness of the set, and it has 2 usb ports and a Files slot which includes been a pleasant feature on the Panasonics.
Picture Quality
-----------------
The picture setting options remain like they have got previously. You get the basic settings with Cinema keeping the most accurate default settings and all the other worthless ones (no THX on the ST50). One thing to remember is the fact that there's a motion smoother setting set to on by default. I would recommend turning this and other worthless options like black extension off to find the best quality, as when on they are able to cause some funkiness. The Custom option offers a few more `Pro settings' with some gamma presets and also a 2-point grayscale control. Using this along with the Cnet settings as being a starting point, I was able to tweak the set to an excellent picture.
The quality of the ST50's picture to get a mid-range set is fantastic. The black levels have become good and on par with my Kuro 5020 from 2008. The letterbox bars, while still visible on dark scenes will blend to the bezel on bright scenes. The Elites: the 08 Kuro and last year's Sharp, will still best the blacks about this set, and not my much. That gap have reduced significantly with your 2012 Panasonics. The shadow detail was excellent for this set as I did not witness any black crush inside the dark scenes. There are a few night scenes in Gang of Brothers I personally use to test shadow detail and contrast along with the ST50 performed great.
Panasonic also finally eliminated that green push which has tainted their non-flagship models for the past several years. Using the HD Essentials BR as well as the redhead scene, she looked incredibly natural without any reddish hue. For devoid of a CMS, I was very impressed with the color accuracy of the ST50. Nature scenes appear natural and flesh tones are almost i'm all over this - not perfect but darn close.
As wonderful plasmas, the viewing angle about the ST50 is superb. You can literally be looking at this screen from your side but still understand the picture as bright and natural as being straight on. This remains to be the an area where LCD's aren't even all-around being on the same game as plasmas.
Other Thoughts
----------------
The set does run warm, although not quite as bad as years passed. Even though they are going to never match LCDs, they keep on improving the energy efficiency of such plasmas. As far as buzzing, it has normally the one from the lowest buzz numbers of plasmas I've heard. Usually in dead silence you can hear the thrill quite clearly, but for the ST50 it is possible to only read it if you are seeking it.
Everything thrown with this set has looked great. Several Blu-rays, quality HD programming on Smithsonian and HDNET, PS3 games and upscaled dvds. Of course though most cable/satellite channels are extremely low quality, the `flaws' on these channels didn't seem as pronounced on this set and looked halfways decent.
As with all of flat screens, the audio quality are few things to publish home about however i would the quality about this the first is better than most. If you just want to just hear the audio, the built-in speakers will suffice because volume will go quite loud and also the dialogue is clear. Obviously for the best experience, a different speakers will be best.
Value and Overall Thoughts
---------------------------
I think the ST50 is a good value. Even on the market price it's a value and this will only keep improving as prices drop. I can't say the way compares to the GT50, but I'm guessing there will not be an excessive amount of difference between these set's PQ, if any whatsoever yet the GT50 runs a couple of hundred more. It probably will lag behind the flagship VT50, but may also be most the cost of that set.
As I along with the owners utilize this set more, I'll report back with any further conditions that will come up or further feedback for the set. With everything, I'm able to say with full confidence this will be the best performance-to-value pair of 2012. There is extremely little to never like with this set and overall, this is a superb display for everyone nevertheless the pickiest of videophiles. I highly recommend the ST50.

I have upgraded my review to a Elegant Review. Finally go some Blu-Ray's to observe with this TV and WOW!!!! I got the Avatar Blu-Ray and it was absolutely stunning, STUNNING! I can't wait to use the 3D sometime, whether or not this isn't right the review may need to be edited time for 4 stars again.
60 inch Nice Picture!, nevertheless, you must adjust it RIGHT!
So cleaning it once a Cnets settings that had been much better however, not perfect in any way, still darker and uneven and gray.
Here are my settings and to some of you they might only be worth what you covered them, but i are finding these to be bright, colorful and they really reveal the clarity with this plasma tv, I enjoy it. With one of these settings you don't need to concern yourself with the image being dark.

These settings is bound to bring your plasma to life. Also we have no trouble using a bright room. Speakers are perfect just turn the bass setting all the way up and use another settings. There's a little buzzing you could hear using the volume on mute but other that that there is no problem. 2>3D is cool, helps it be fun. Also no Image Retention in any way.
Make sure you download the Android app just for this tv, it really is Absolutely Awesome! You can see the images and video's completely from your phone without having downloading, awesome! Additionally a basic remote too. It's very crucial that you adjust the Picture on this tv the way you like, take time and get it done and are Rewarded!
Amazing picture, quality, and value. Some buzzing...
I've had the television since the end of August. I have way over 100 hours onto it i feel it's appropriately broken in. I am not a pro-reviewer or pro TV watcher, in the event that's a thing :). Important parts:
1. No difficulty with IR (image retention). Zero. In early stages in ownership I would ensure that you n't have any static images left for too long (might play games for the half hour then plunge to something else) and don't have static black bars across the edges including watching a low-def TV series it doesn't fill the complete screen. It has methods for making your way around the black bars by changing the "format" because channel changer says. You can zoom or 'fill' the picture to fit whatever you're watching for the screen. I would also not use bright TV modes. I set it up to "standard" mode on day 1 and possess only raised the contrast a bit. My room has slight window glare which is dimly lighted.
2. Buzzing. I've had difficulty with buzzing...unfortunately. It's most noticeable for instance if I'm watching a 480i video, not high-def, and something bright will be shown. A candle, sunshine, etc. An incredibly standard TV buzz sound emits from the screen. It's annoying. Easily crank the degree above a quiet, night-time volume I normally use it is not noticeable, which can present you with an idea of how loud the buzz is. It is not too loud, but noticeable nonetheless at quiet TV volumes or at any volume if there is no audio from the video to cover up the excitement noise. I sit approximately 9 feet in the TV set.
3. Gaming (Xbox, PS3) is beautiful.
4. 3D is amazing. Including 3D gaming. (3D glasses aren't included, I got myself the Samsungs other reviewers did too).
5. With all the P60ST50 being a PC monitor works fine. I had created to alter settings on my pc so it didn't leave black area surrounding the edges. They fit great now and possesses minimal motion lag. PC gaming shows some lag, but is useful enough. That's not me an aggressive gamer.
6. I take advantage of the DLNA server mode frequently. I stream music and video with only minimal issues using serviio. There are additional methods but I never figured I'd apply it just as much as I actually do.
Hope it helps!|
FABULOUS
It has a slightly bigger screen (65 inch) and is much thinner and lighter. The picture is completely AWESOME. At the very least as good as the first sort Pioneer KURO - faster refresh rate, and 3-D too! Haven't used rogues feature since I'm not really a 3-D fan, but I'm telling you the image for this baby is smoking. I wouldn't recommend anything higher on the Panasonic production - trust me, this TV will be the bomb, particularly as of this price point with Amazon.
W-O-W !!!
Getting it turned out super easy! Biggest score, who may have been whining a great deal lately about folks utilizing their stores being a showroom to generate hands-on assessments, then buying from Amazon, may not touch the deal I got from Amazon. And so i ordered, selected the free delivery, selected a date & time (yes, that option was provided with Free freight) and got my TV PDQ! Specifically, Ordered on Monday, may have gotten it sent to my door on Wednesday but selected a delivery period of 8 to 11 am Saturday, got a phone call from the delivery service at 7:45 am Saturday, plus they been there out of the box and on the floor by 8:30 am. The delivery service will set it to the stand, hook it up, as well as set it in your case, but won't wall mount it. That has been okay by me, cuz setting finished . up is half the enjoyment!! And also, since this 55" TV is so thin, it was just about 10 lbs. heavier as opposed to 40" I replaced. So there have been no issues using my existing mount. RECOMMENDATION: Maintain your box and packing for the small chance there can be a problem and you'd must return. I needed none of people issues, and possess since tossed the box, but have up to 2 weeks.
Over 30 days, and i am still loving it! Almost everyday, I am going to tweak a bit here, tweak a bit there, just messing around with the picture, not because I need to but because I will, and it's fun! No visitors walk-through the family room without commenting first about the size and also the appearance from the TV, then concerning the great picture. I am unable to watch for my NFL Sunday Ticket subscription to crank back. I'll never start to see the light of day over a fall Sunday again! This is gonna be like standing on the 50 yard line!
As you are able to tell, I favor this TV. Great pic, sleek design. That's not me as simple to impress as I sound in this review, however i just can't say it enough. This TV 's all it was advertised to become, plus much more. Furthermore, no I-told-you-so's from my lady. Instead, she jsut sits down when camping, kicks up her feet, and says a similar thing I really do, everytime...W-O-W!
Great Purchase
While I'm a longtime customer of Amazon, this is the 1st time I'd purchased a major electronic product online having always felt more secure purchasing a TV at a local retailer. Sure enough, the set was delivered and was inoperative.
These things happen. What We are writing to have to say is which i was stunned at how easy it turned out to go back the faulty TV to Amazon although an unofficial delivery service must be used due to size and delivery requirements. A replacement set was delivered along with the inoperative set picked up. The replacement set is ideal and Amazon has earned my loyalty like a customer for life.
So far lives approximately the hype
Awesome picture; affordable out there
Panasonic P60ST50 60-inch 1080p Plasma TV
Best TV Bang on your Buck
I first considered the plasma vs. LED/LCD decision. I had always heard things about LED as it is thinner, lighter, uses less electricity, and contains a brighter picture. My research and private exposure to both kinds of tv's confirmed these differences are true, but a lesser amount of so than in older styles of plasma tv's. As an example, this 50" Panasonic TC-P50ST50 weighs 48 lbs. I purchased a 42" Panasonic plasma 36 months ago that weighs 72 lbs. So the larger, modern-day tv has a bigger screen and weighs about 1/3 less. It is usually much thinner (front to back) than my older 42" Panasonic plasma, probably most as thick. So while these still weigh countless are thicker than the usual comparable sized LED tv, they will really aren't much thicker or heavier these days. As for energy consumption, it's as being a few dollars per month read more about your electric bill to get a plasma tv. Probably $3 approximately a month difference. Plasmas are often less expensive for similar quality and size than LED, precisely what little you lose on electricity charges with plasma you'll save upfront about the purchase price and more. Finally, yes LED's do have a brighter picture that is not necessarily a good thing. While it could jump out and blow you away in the store, watching it with an extended time in your own home can cause that white colored to turn into a searing white and cause eye strain and fatigue. This new plasma has much brighter, cleaner whites than my old plasma and also to me just looks considerably more lifelike and real compared to the extremely bright whites of the LED.
Motion - I love to watch sports, as well as the 600Hz refresh rate of plasmas makes a factor in fast moving objects onscreen. Even with all the interpolated 120Hz or 240Hz motion in LED/LCD's, it isn't really nearly as life-like and smooth. Definite win for plasmas in this category.
Blacker blacks - LED/LCD's have a very backlight behind the pixels to illuminate the screen. This is fine, though the backlight is likely to bleed-thru black pixels to produce really a dark gray than black. Again, plasma wins (especially this plasma).
Electric usage - Advantage LED/LCD here, however, not significantly so.
Image retention - Plasmas are notable for an inclination to get image retention or burn-in if the static image is left on screen for several hours. This problem is a smaller amount of the concern in modern plasmas, even though there has been some reports of IR in extraordinary instances of these new models I've had little difficulty with mine. In fact, from my research it seems like even individuals who have suffered some moderate image retention normally have it vanish entirely after the set is broken looking for a number of hundred hours.
Bezel - Clear plastic bezel makes this tv blend into the room, having a very thin black plastic border throughout the fringe of the screen. It really looks nice within my family area.
Anti-reflective screen - The ST, GT, and VT group of Panasonic Plasma offer an anti-reflection filter within the screens which reduces glare and makes them tv's more usable in brightly lit rooms. LED/LCD's tv's with their overly bright pictures might still certainly be a better choice for any room with plenty of windows if you watch lots of tv in the daytime, but this really is filter makes this plasma watchable in somewhat well-lit rooms.
Amazon TV buying - Scheduled delivery arrived from the 2 hour window I arranged when ordering. I received 2% Amazon rewards as a pre-balance credit card for ordering from Amazon. I knew Amazon would allow a no-questions-asked return in the event of any issue. I found a cheaper price for this tv at one of Amazon's online competitors and received a cost complement no hassle. All in most, We are pretty pleased with all the television and Amazon's service (as always).
Other thoughts - The swivel stand is pretty nice. This tv has excellent image quality, good features, nice aesthetics during my room. I'm enjoying becoming up to I needed hoped I'd personally, and am happy to say every one of my research paid with me being very satisfied with a fantastic price with a great tv. My biggest regret could be deciding on the 50" rather than a larger screen, but that's my fault not the tv's!
EDIT: I have seen some buzzing through the tv on bright scenes with low or no audio playing. It's not terribly loud, but it's noticeable. Doesn't bother us a lot, however it is the one negative thing I've noticed using this television I was thinking worth mentioning. Overall though, great tv, great value I still suggest.
Excellent Delivery and Service
Thank you Amazon for a great experience from start to finish!
Unbelievable!!!
Let me tell you, I did so a substantial research before ordering and still have seen many positive reviews. Also, it's "Best picture quality and value" and "2012 Editors' Choice" awards in CNET.
BUT you will need to notice to think! After changing settings using CNET's recommendations I obtained a superb image quality with deepest black and finest color gamma I've ever seen. It is extremely bright as well. Buzzing sound that many people are complaining about is negligible...
I feel that thus far, this is actually the best picture-quality ratio plasma TV you may get.
2nd best picture of 2012 for amazing price
The best TV accessible in 2012 may be the Panasonic VT50 series plasma. Additionally, it costs over 2 grand. Sooo, not spending that $ right now. In the end of my research, the Panasonic ST50 is 1,000 bucks cheaper, using the image quality slightly below the VT series. Even CNET says the ST50 series as well as the upgrade GT50 series share the EXACT same screen. The picture is the identical. The GT is more sylish in design, and it has an extra processor. THX can be available on the GT. I do believe THX is overrated and also dim to view. I would not require the extra processor for Blueray and WiFi Netflix viewing and this TV was great for me. You will get the 55" ST CHEAPER when compared to a 50" GT, with the same picture. I seriously have no idea why people even consider and LCD or LED tv when compared to image quality on this plasma. This doesn't happen have any better! The truth is, one trusted review website said the picture quality for this year's ST series clearly beats last year's top-tier VT series. With the unlimited viewing angle, along with the deepest blacks you have ever seen this TV is awesome. Just buy it. Easy call.
PS: the Wifi works great and streams netflix with great picture quality of you have fast enough internet. The 3D is excellent, however, not the most effective. I hate 3D anyway so if you're just like me you couldn't care less.|
Best TV your money can buy hands down
Awesome Price Awesome TV
Picture Quality: The PQ is amazing on these TV. It's great blacks and excellent bright room PQ. My home is on the top floor while using family room facing west and so i get a large amount of sunlight, thankfully PQ is still great, but superior in the dark room. HD movies are so realistic looking too. 3D is kinda wack though. I did not really worry about 3D and that i don't even think other models are any better than this model. I believe we still have to wait a couple of years before 3D is basically good on TVs also I can't plenty of room within my family room to put it far enough to the 3D to function. Also TV won't feature glasses you must buy them by themselves for like 80 bucks. Overall PQ rocks !.
Capabilities: Lots of apps including netflix (which sucks), huluplus (haven't tried), youtube, amazon movies etc. Using the remote to type is annoying but when you will get the keyboard it isn't annoying. In case you have fast interent its better yet. Its WIFI that is cool. The interface is super simple i like, my Dad who just learned understanding youtube can navigate through the apps with complete ease.
Overall Design: They have 3 HDMI ports, along with other ports, it swivels and contains a very good looking stand, the remote is simple to use and has big buttons which can be nice, it looks slick however their less difficult nicer looking.
Price: Can't beat this price. another TVs don't possess the PQ like this one. They will often have cooler capabilities but not by much and not worth the price. If you need more than 3 HDMI ports I suppose that is an excuse to never understand this tv. Also if 3D is super important maybe the more expensive TVs are better. This place is under $1200 which is a great price!
GET THIS TV!
Excellent picture
living as much as expectations
The TV is fantastic so far! Great black levels, excellent motion/no blur, good off angle, along with the plasma 'buzz' that is section of the technology is incredibly faint simply heard when completely quiet(no volume) and in a couple of feet of the unit...and who sits literally 24inches from a 60in screen! I was interested in bright light and reflections and overall this unit handles ambient light well. Have some skylights in the room with out more issue with this TV as opposed to old 27in analog TV that it replaced.
I probably have this uses more energy when compared to a comparable LED tv....and I would have this on 8 hours each day I might rate that as a higher priority. It gets warm, but no alarming so and again, section of the technology.
Sound is ok to get a TV yet, why have a real high fidelity picture and choose TV speaker sound??
Remote is okay. A lttle bit dated but functional.
Connections on side of TV near edge to help you use the SD card reader and USB ports with no trouble. 3 HDMI connections enough to me.
Bezel and style of tv frame good. Could possibly be some better, but some, more are worse!
As others have mentioned, make use of the CNET settings for your picture settings. Tweaked the brightness and sharpness somewhat, otherwise, totally trust all other recommendations when it comes to turning off almost all in the "enhancement" features.
Overall, to the excellence of the picture, height and width of the screen, and value paid, very happy with this particular purchase.
Like going to the theater!
Delivery via CEVA shipping was fabulous. Delivery person was wonderful, careful, attentive....even offered to let me push the button. He carefully brought this area inside, explained a couple of things concerning the TV, even plugged it directly into make sure it worked before he left (no damage, etc). And GREAT price for a plasma screen TV. Highly recommended!
Great product & great Amazon customer service!
But here's the real reason behind the review...
I bought the television on May 3 (A three week period ago) & it shipped on May 8 (16 days ago), that we think is "technically" outside their price match window. Last night I started to create an assessment and i also seen that the cost shown to the TV was $250 Under I purchased it for. I called Amazon and they said I might need to talk with their "Big Product Department" and - obviously - we were holding closed until today. Needless to convey, I used to be mighty cranky yesterday!! But today, after i called they immediately credited my account with all the difference - no problem whatsoever.
So my message to most people are - if you opt for a TV using the price match guarantee, make sure you keep an eye on the price for a few months. You never know when Amazon will slow up the price!
Best TV for that money
For the initial 100 hrs avoided playing 4:3 contents mostly and ran almost 60+ hours of slide-show as suggested by D-nice from HDJ (HighDefJunkies). Then switched to custom setting as suggested by him. Recommended settings. I typically do calibration myself according to calibration blu-ray that came with my Oppo player and the settings closely match with mine. Black levels are perfect and bezel and blacks merge so well that bezel disappears. I've not done extensive 3D image quality analysis to date. First impressions and comparison to sharp 70in LED, this place looks better. Reg the hockey and other game problems that people reported, moving to custom settings and defeating few gizmos beforehand settings eliminates that modulating brightness. (There appears to be a problem with image processing algorithm that works typically luminance wrt some threshold. It seems to acquire thrown off with camera flashes in indoor games.)
Regarding the last comment of viera remote app no longer working with ST50 - it is baseless. I've tried this app and works flawlessly. We've played back videos from my android phone towards the TV simply by swiping! I believe the only feature that may not help T50 is playing back a content from TV on the smartphone - I've not tried.
For the cash only at that specific time, this is actually the affordable. When you have this TV perpetually ON the entire day, I'd personally concern yourself with power bill in comparison to LED.
Excellent TV with a few initial conditions that were resolved
Outstanding picture after adjusting settings to D Nices recommendation. Ran the slides for 100 hours, adjusted custom video settings after which think it is had to be tweaked slightly for additional brightness. His calibration settings were for your 55ST50 plus the larger 60ST50 wants a bit more tweaking as it had not been bright enough.
I found the Viera Connect's Media Viewer disappointing when using the side SD and USB inputs to view videos. Although it could see the MP4 video clips on the usb tool and SD card, it could not play them. Something wrong in the event the ST50 has difficulty reading MP4's which is today's most frequent hd video file
The DLNA networking feature was also similarly flawed in this it could not start to see the the greater part from the MP4 video clips on my own PC through wifi OR hardwired ethernet. The files it could possibly play displayed poorly with frequent pixelization, and stuttering. Photo files displayed well and music files came through fine.
I experimented by creating larger mpg2 videos in the same MP4 movies, along with the media viewer played them flawlessly from both the thumb drive and the sdcard.
In summary excellent display quality, but if you're video enthusiast who wishes to comprehend the edited videos on your personal computer via via your property network, you will end up disappointed if you don't re encode your movies from MP4's to mpg2's and examine them via the ST50's USB or SD inputs.
UPDATE at the time of 8/30
Happy to report We have reduced the problem with the ST50's wherewithal to play MP4's. I re-encoded the MP4's using the free program Handbrake. The re encoded MP4 files play flawlessly over DLNA so need to wear them an SD or USB device. Hope this info can help other video enthusiasts who may encounter this problem using these Panasonics.
One of the greatest Plasma TV's ever!
First impressions:
As much as you could be tempted do NOT attempt to take this beast from the carton yourself and attach the stand. It really is simply too big also to be truthful it is actually a 3 person job. Two to lift the lay out from the carton, slide it in to the base guides while somebody else screws inside four bolts securing it towards the base. The instructions don't say, the little hole inside base visits the rear.
One feature of this set 's what Panasonic calls "first time setup" which is a fully animated seven step how-to of basic connections including starting up to your WiFi home network. The exact help on-screen in the tv itself is good. Easy to get at from the remote anytime it ought to be.
The remote features a built-in light that has lights the keys, valuable in dark viewing situtations. Recption menus system is a lttle bit diverse from some in that the principle choices show on the left, having a sub menu to the right, However you must press OK first in order to access the sub menu features and quite often step through multiple presses of return. Just has a little getting use to.
Right along with, set it set to "standard" mode which were disappointing to many. This since the other modes are often changes to whatever values you desire and are remember. Many choices show on multiple pages and quite often not seen until you press the miscroscopic down pointing arrow. To soon to say how I'm changing my setting, several have previously commented on that.
Internet access: Creating to my WiFi connection was basic and automatic. All you need is your router's name and password and your tv should find and conect into it in a minture or so. The remote keypad will allow you to enter your password, but torture as far as how slow carrying it out like that is. If you intent to by using this set to watch the net and do more that simply pick movies spend money on one of the supported optional keyboards.
I tried a Sdcard from my camcorder and yes it flawlessly played as being a slideshow without issue. I've not tried DLNA features gain access to my other assets on the network yet nor the USB feature.
A couple issues you might come upon. One is determined by your cable box. Mine includes a curious option when you have to use the cable remote to visit settings and choose between HDMI and Dolby output. If you do not, then this audio output via HDMI was only right and left channel, not Dolby. Simple fix. Also on my A/V receiver I needed to change it's settings to ARC-auto otherwise it too would interfer with proper audio playback. The audio output from your TV itself is ok, but simply ok. Do your hair a favor and obtain a A/V receiver to properly playback digital audio. As soon as you hear the gap, you'll never return.
File under dumb mistakes: In taking away my old TV and disconnecting from my A/V receiver I were do one wire that went to the guts speaker. So, initially when i first fired up the new tv I had been unhappy I could only hear muffled background sounds and saw the actors mouths moving although not hearing them. Simple fix. So if something weird happens, check your other equipment before blaming the newest tv. (wink)
About the picture quality:
Jaw dropping. Yeah, so good but only after refining some settings, having a STRONG signal out of your signal source, proper ambient room lighting and viewing coming from a proper distance in the screen. This obviously is somewhat your own choice. One dispute which has been waging forever will there be looks like it's two camps, those who choose to more natual look and color saturation of plasmas, and the other camp that likes what to most videophile purists seems artfical and cartoonish in "some" viewing situations. Only having watched some hours thus far, I am I made the best choice choosing my second plasma. The image quality specially when viewing full live 1080i content (most cable boxes show in their window what resolution has been broadcast)is outstanding and incredibly crisp without look a lttle bit phony as it could on some LED's.
A few quick advice on calibration for that do-it-yourself crowd:
Assumed: You have the ability to download images online, possess a DVD or Blu Ray burner to generate your own personal disks. Google "Indian Chief test pattern". You will discover plenty of them. They're suppose to become grayscale. Look for one close to the resolution of your new TV or failing who use some photo enhancement software including Photoshop to enlarge to 1920 x 1080 or as close to that particular as possible. Be sure you keep aspect ratio in tact otherwise you'll defeat the purpose of this adjustment.
Now burn to some DVD (add other test patterns test images if you want, on the next post). Let set warm-up a fantastic 20 min, inside a semi dark room, load your DVD in. Try not to maintain your test pattern on screen for more than a couple minutes, it will take way a shorter time. Record your settings. Set color to 0 to eliminate all color. Now as you're watching quality pattern slowly adjust the sharpness control to get the best seperation between the lines in the test pattern and the best looking indian which has a feather headdress.
Many people make assumption more is best and definately will start sharpeness or focus control to near maximum. Wrong! This can be reality will still only distort the picture. While observing the test pattern because you adjust setting await fuzziness of the lines plus blooming or lines seeming to grow in size or "blooming" a sure sign you've too little or a lot of sharpness. Once you get the most seperation between your lines within the test pattern without otherwise distorting another thing stop, your done. Reset your color control and then you may choose to recalibrate your other settings a bit.
Doing a grayscale adjustment is as simple, and no, you never really need to buy some fancy setup disc to acquire near to ideal settings. I'll give details a few weeks possibly even once i go around to doing mine.
Update #1 9/18
Calibration: Did a primary first quick calibration just adjusting settings. Several observations: I've stood a plasma set for 8 years, one of the primary generation of plasma sets. Usually the one negative thing I observed plus it applies to all brands I've come across and keep in mind that I spends hours checking them out, not only Panasonic, is perfect for reasons unknown the overall brightness level has decreased, (in Plasam sets) supposedly to aid give longer life. My older set, which has been working fine and donated to some homeless shelter had every one of the settings mid-range, plus it still had a brighter overall picture.
However the contrast, sharpenss, black levels around the new set are superior. In spite of this, the entire pictue is fantastic but also for sure like all plasma sets a bit dimmer than LED begins general, but as others said the colours and overall picture quality while a target opinion seems superior. While LED sets could have a slight edge for movies, another things, I suppose like me most watch a large amount of "regular" broadcast television in the standard defintion and HD i find with the the plasma tops the LED most of the time, especially for sports along with other fast action playback. However it is opinion and choice.
As far as settings you change for the tv, I became quite different that this CNet values or any other posters offered, mainly you're the picture brighter, as I was used to without getting captivated.
Viera Connent: A good feature, but flawed and annoying over a couple minor points you ought to know of. I just got over phone with Panasonic support (who have been excellent, prompt too on two rings) that confirmed these couple things. One of several big selling points of "smart" tv's is their power to connect you to definitely the more electronic univese both by directly accessing the world wide web (if you have a broadband connection and WiFi/Ethernet connection) as well as although the same connections accesss other assets on the home network this kind of videos, photos plus your music collection.
How does it do this? Actually great! I'll skip reviewing Internet performance since I only tested a couple of vids playing off Youtube. Worked fine, no skipping. While I have not create a NAS (Network attached Storage) device yet, even without them, the tv screen easily accessed my main PC and allowed me to select media and play it of my new tv.
The problems? I have a A/V receiver hooked up to it to have better audio playback. As the TV has options to switch involving the TV speakers and home cinema for many odd reason any video file I played from your DLNA connection was muted. Why? According to tech support it's designed this way. And that means you need to do a few menu alternatives on the remote to exchange to tv speakers, then back again if you play television stations. I only say muted since i have had my tv set to try out in theater way of the television who's did without issues after a minor settings change on the cable box remote.
Worse you will find there's option as soon as your done playing your personal machine files to return to the tv screen. Well which don't work directly either. It only switches back to ANT input, that's fine if you don't have a property theater and still have your cable box or another video source plugged into the TV' ANT coax connector, but not good if you have a property theater hooked up via HDMI. You have to turn back and selection whatever HDMI source you have you home cinema connected too. Again, told this is the "design feature", which I hope gets corrected while using next firmware release (when it might be) because there's no reason for it and I assume many buying this expensive of an tv will even choose to use a home entertainment, so Panasonic dropped the ball for this in my opinion.
Remote choices as far as options:
Quite good, but a bit curious. You have various picture options and every HDMI imput can be set differently, however some tips i found annoying was some options like advance settings or Gamma as well as other things you really need to enjoy don't appear for all those picture mode options. Again annoying because I had created the picture really popping set to game mode with brightness and contrast rejected, but planned to tweak gamma and wasn't allowed... remote just jumped over that menu choice and other modes jumped over other things I wanted to alter but wasn't allowed.
So sadly all the settings are merely truly adjustable on in custom mode. Which is somewhat annoying (yes I'm nitpicking a lttle bit) because specially when you're new to the set it up is extremely simple to skip over things you can adjust. Something you need to go through the option choice which brings up more offerings, in fact it is all to easy to follow on the small down allow to venture to the subsequent page, and you should can't say for sure you missed something. Minor, but again annoying in design.
As far as not being able to change anything in a picture mode, In my opinion again a unique restriction. Anything frustrating with a techie much like me getting a menu option, then wishing to change it and cannot as the system won't allow it. While annoying, it is possible to experience it, since you are not playing with settings much as soon as you first set the create.
About hum, heat generated, other "bad" things:
No hum personally. Nothing, well ok, almost nothing. I really do have an audio meter and when inside a quite room go to the back from the place it barely registers about 10dB. Hear it through the front of the set while using audio on? No, certainly not.
Heat generated from your set? Almost no, about 50 % around my older plasma did. Some reviewers here and elsewhere appear to have developed a huge problem concerning this. Again, I would not see it or can i say feel it. Yes, in the event you put you about the vent holes on the back with the place it is warm to the touch, but barely. If you walk up to the screen after it has been on awhile, you can sense a certain amount of heat being thrown off, yet not exteme, not really a lot, just a bit and just if you get within inches of the screen which naturally you should not anyway. Simply for a comparsion, my tv cable box is approximately twice as hot and yeah, that almost does cause you to be want to draw back, although not this tv.
Update #2 9/19
For some odd reason I can not respond straight away to comments or make comments from what others said, they get rejected. I've told Amazon about this many times also it falls on deaf ears, so my best way to repond to anyone communicating with them would be to extend my original comments.
I'll be able to post all my settings in the near future, I'm still in fiddle mode myself ;)
One thing I've remarked that does create a big impact on image quality and overall brightness and good contrast will be the "pro setting" adjustment. Make this happen:
Menu/Picture Mode, head to page #2 to achieve access to "pro settings". Click on the little down arrow to go to page #2 on this sub menu. Set black extention to +2. Set Gamma either to 1.8 or 2.0. Panel Brightness to Mid. AGC to +10. Visit "save as defaults". Click return button to out of the house of the sub menues.
Now Las vegas dui attorney may wish to do this. I like all others would have been a bit disappointed with overall picture brightness, me more so since my old plasma was actually brighter and also the various settings in mid range. As they are using the setting set to standard, I had been disappointed. Very. As with most tvs the specific purpose of the controls along with the impact aren't fully or clearly explained. So I immediately did how you feel will be logical... start both brightness and contrast. That helped, some, in general didn't result in a excellent picture.
So I began to fiddle. I pushed up both contrast and brightness to near max setting then changed the panel brightness setting to high. It helped, some, however the image quality suffered greatly. I really restored for the "mid" setting, dropped gamma, then slowly stepped down both both brightness and contrast on the high 50's range for brightness and high 60's for contrast and WOW, holy cow, exactly what a stunning picture, particularly in a semi-dark room. Now an active broadcast (I used to be watching my local news broadcast) if broadcast at 1080i was as an open window into a few other dimension, I never saw any television have this vivid, this crisp, this sharp a picture with stunning contrast and brightness. The moral of the story you can "fiddle" but remember some settings that suggest by their label might help can and make things far worse.
Like I said, it was at 10PM inside a semi-dark room. I have the set on now, its a little past high noon, light is streaming in from two overhead skylights (nevertheless it don't squarely hit the screen). Yes, the picture is a bit lighter than as viewed last night, though the settings above situation an extremely viewable whilst still being well contrasted picture without changings any settings. I would change another imput to use for daytime viewing, however i don't do very much, and extremely I do not go to a need. Among the preimum channels is playing the original Harry Potter right this moment and it looks great... at high noon in the quite bright room.
Update #3 10/6
Been going through the tv's extended possibilites, and quite pleased. Many have noted they didn't buy this set for its "smart" features and probably won't try accessing the world wide web off a tv or another things it might do. Make sure you try it, it's going to be a close look openings and fun expereince. Generating a home WiFi network currently is fast and painless andyou won't need to be geek to make it happen. Just obtain a wireless router, plug that to your pc wherever it is, plug you Internet sources into the router and then allow the TV discover the network, (a painless and quick Half a minute possibly even process)and you is able to see things like YouTube on a big screen using the audio playing using your home theater in case you have might it really is much better than watching with a little computer monitor. Naturally there's a number of other items to explore online side.
I'm really updating this review for this TV's DLNA feature. It is better than expected. I'll keep the technical buzz low. What this feature allows is made for example so that you can play virtually any multimeda file you've on either your personal computer or attached NAS or similar mass storage which is also part of your own home wireless network. A few things i did during the past was burn a handful of songs from my extensive music collection to a DVD, then pop that in my DVD player and play them from the TV doing this. It functions, but that is so much better and faster because through DLNA We have immediate access to the song on my PC or NAS, in addition to the big bonus of needing it play through my fancy home theatre without the need to burn a CD or DVD.
If you employ Windows, the television by iself should find Windows Media player, (through DLNA, you will see it's icon)and provide files to your TV in three main categories, music, photos, videos. There are a lot of sub menus so you can sort by album, generes, date, actors, make custom play lists, etc.. In case you have 100, 500 or a large number of songs on your pc, all of them are instantly available and selectable out of your big tv screen, using some remote button pushes. Absolutely nothing to set up. Works equally well to your photo and video collection, however according to what media player you have, (I do believe when you have Windows on your personal computer it automaticlly adds that to to media player list. I can't remember manaully doing it. If you have other media player software or work with a fancier box like WD TV live, that's better yet with additional options. The idea is this is a completely cool approach to enjoy your tv when you invest in bored with what's on or your DVD or Blur Ray collection.

Excellent Motion Performance, Brilliant Picture
Incredible picture and great value!
If you're hesitant, when i was, about ordering a 100+ pound TV from the web, don't be concerned--the experience was great with Amazon. The tv screen was delivered, by appointment, three 72 hours after ordering (understanding that was with free postage!). The delivery company was great--they brought it into the house and the area where it had been being set up. They unpacked it and attached the beds base. They might have plugged it in and tested it, though the set was freezing to become fired up. So I waited a few hours before trying it.
I'm happy while using buying experience, it, as well as the shipping and delivery. (I'm not linked to Amazon, Panasonic, or even the delivery company the slightest bit, but I do buy often from Amazon.)

Excellent TV
Takes some fiddling to become perfect
Initially, I used to be able to take this problem to the store, however i have fun here now. The overall package is excellent... design, features, etc. It looks great high on the wall (the Samsung was too small for that room).
WORKS In addition to All of the REVIEWS SAYS It lets you do!
If you would like a collection containing blinding brightness, next the set isn't for you personally. In case you are looking for the absolute best picture for the money, this would it be. After you have watched this set for over 48 hours, you will not notice that it is not as bright as LED. And once you might have this set after which go into a local store and look at the most recent model LED picture, you actually appreciate the clarity and color quality of the ST50 plasma.
My son gets the 65VT50 where there isn't any difference within the quality of his picture over mine. He admits that that when he'd to make it happen over again, he would save the $800 (he got his on great sale), and get the ST50. Yes, the remote on the VT50 differs from the others, but he doesn't carry on line enough to pay for $800 more for a top quality remote.
I purchased the Panasonic dmp-bdt220 3d Blu-ray player concurrently I purchased the television and am glad Used to do. As an example, easily put a dvd in to the Panasonic player, my television automatically switches to the dvd input. The player really complements it having its quality picture and features.
I waited to acquire my set until it absolutely was coming in at $2040, after which a week later Paul's TV been there available for sale for $1999, and Amazon did refund the real difference while i called them. Unless you employ a bright room which cannot be darkened, you are going to love this set. You can't beat the value.
This is the 3rd television We have bought in Amazon and i also don't think I'd buy one anywhere else. Their price, delivery, and customer satisfaction is difficult to conquer, and I am fussy.
Finally found the ideal TV
Oh, and experiencing no audible buzzing like some have reported, and i am a sound engineer by trade so notice the most subtle hums and buzzes during my system.
Would like to deliver a shout in the market to Amazon customer care and CEVA Logistics - they made returning two TV's and getting this place completely painless. Very satisfied customer.
ST 50 rules!
Great TV
Great TV in a great price
Amazing TV
Pros:
- Stunning image quality. I've actually never seen a screen with a more beautiful image.
- Dark scenes as well as they come
- Absolutely flawless distribution of light in all directions.
- Sound is superb. This is a type of weakness of the great deal of flat screens and was among my biggest concerns in buying one. You will not discover a speaker bar necessary here. Great sound clarity at high volumes and strong bass.
Cons:
- With bright scenes and low audio volumes, the device emits a low pitch hum (I'm told from the warm burning phosphors--white being hottest). I had find about this before I bought when When i first heard it...I chuckled that would even be considered a challenge. It's hardly noticeable even though it lets you do occur and the way often am I watching largely white screens without having audio? Never.
- A commercial bar pops up at the bottom of the screen when the TV is first fired up. (I'm told this is often removed but it doesn't bother me enough to even think about trying)
My ultimate desire ended up being possess a set having a beautiful display and solid sound. I wasn't concerned about internet integration, though Panasonic creates this change perfectly. It's hard to imagine being more pleased--this may perhaps be just about the most satisfying technology purchases that we have ever produced. It's only a great deal.
Incredible picture
I recommend using pre-calibration slides for 100 hours and then calibrating to optimize image quality. (I oftentimes tried D-Nice's slides and settings for the highdefjunkies board.) The wait is excruciating though the outcome is excellent!
Visual Feast!
On on the review. This TV feels amazing. It took my breath away after i opened the ginormous box. For reasons uknown this 60" TV looks alot larger than its brethren. It ought to be for the reason that trim that goes around the screen is indeed thin, this provides the illusion you have more screen space.
In a symptom I became just watching HD channels on my own cable TV and I was very impressed using the accuracy of colours and vibrance. Yesterday night I finally got a chance to slip in a blueray movie, Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows, and discover what this TV will surely do. Let me just say this TV is amazing. My mouth literally dropped open and stayed like that for your pretty much the whole length of the film. Information, the colours, along with the 600hz smoothness were literally jaw dropping. Essentially the most impressive part was, which Plasma TVs truly do well at, may be the clarity of dark/night scenes. You may see every piece of information after dark, where LED and LCD TVs fail to deliver excellent display quality. I recently can't devote to words how amazing this Plasma TV looks. Should you be in the market for a TV here is the someone to get. Plasma doesnt get every one of the hooplah like LED TVs do but trust me it can be worth the cost. LED is overrated. In the event you appreciate display quality than plasma is the greatest way to go. I'm one of those people who is incredibly picky and constantly do alot of research and let me tell you I am 200% satisfied.
P.S: the built in speakers with this TV are very good. They produce very realistic sound and provides a three dimensional feel. This is when other top brands like Samsung are not able to deliver with there tinny, flat sound.
Love LOVE my new TV
#1 It got great reviews from just about everyplace I looked.
#2 I acquired the ST50 instead of the GT or VT models due to image quality being a similar. There are some very cool features inside higher end models yet , I used to be trying to find size and picture as my main objectives and also this was towards the top of my budget.
#3 I decided about the 65 inch model because most from the articles Someone said stated the #1 complaint was they wish that they had gone bigger. This is the largest plasma television inside my budget. -- Really I possibly could have gotten the 60" and would have been perfectly but finally thought we would pony up the extra $600 for your added 5". Probably not the top financial advice however i am personally satisfied with my decision. Which are more bargain it seems that 40" or 60" are your sweet spots because it is only about $200 for each 5 inches from 40" on.
#4 The frequency of which do people really obtain a TV???? I figure it will likely be 5-10 years before buying a fresh one. Because it might be more detailed the ten year side I desired the best TV that we meet the expense of.
#5 The ST50 should certainly have less of a glare then UT50 reducing end models.
Things I really could have inked without:
- Smart TV -- We've the same on my Blue ray dvd player player. I prefer it only because it's just easier then with all the blue ray dvd player remote but despite in the tech industry I am not the maximum at creating universal remotes.
Wish list
- The manufacturers should stand swiveled. The bigger end models do swivel but I prefer to have a 65" that will not swivel instead of a 60" that does. -- We have it on the stand instead of about the wall. I rent so that it is practical to me.
- Blockbuster streaming. -- I have both a netflix and blockbuster account. The manufacturers should TV had blockbuster streaming. As it doesn't I'll be getting a Samsung blue ray dvd or a Roku to find the blockbuster streaming. -- WTH?? I did previously simply have blockbuster DVD mail server (identical to netflix) but my partner kept returning my movies to obtain chick flicks. For this reason I let her go ahead and take blockbuster DVD service and I got Netflix personally.
Surprise bonus
- 3D TV. I really didn't are interested and prefer to have saved a couple hundred bucks if at all possible to obtain the TV without it. But as it wasn't possible We've 3D capability. I don;t utilize it much yet it's pretty cool and use it to use it flix.
All in all this is the fantastic TV. I really like it. :)
Amazing HDTV!!
Looks Great - 3D is Amazing
Amazing!!!
Somehow I made up my mind to trust the reviews and bought this last week from Amazon (First got it for $1000 with White Glove delivery, with a price match with Pauls TV). Delivery was prompt. I did so 100 hour slide show prep using D-Nice's settings on HD Junkies forum and also have been using the TV for the past 2 days together with his Custom settings. Wow!!! The PQ for this is a thing else. Everything looks amazingly natural. Brightness is not at all an issue (My family room is moderately lit) and colours are very true. I will not return to anything aside from a Plasma until which could match Plasma's PQ at reasonable prices. Sound through the TV is just not bad, but an excellent home cinema setup will complete the movie watching experience. I have not tested Blu ray, nevertheless it should also be awesome all signs the reviews.
If are not used to Plasma and are hesitant to buy this TV, do not be. Go ahead and buy this, you will end up amazed!!!
***EDIT***
From CNET
The Viera Connect or Smart Viera feature on new Panasonic TVs now features a your ad that appears each time you switch on the TV. Here's the way to disable it.
Hit the key Menu button around the remote (not the "Internet" or "VieraCast" button) or even the TV itself.
Navigate right down to Setup, hit OK.
Navigate down down (or up) to the second screen until you land on Advanced Setup. Hit OK.
Hop down to Viera Connect Banner and power it down while using left or right directional arrows.
Hit Menu to exit.

Best TV I've Owned
I'm now very thankful that this Samsung died, because the Panasonic TV is much, greater.
Reasons why:
1. Nicer bezel. The Samsung's bezel is definitely an ugly/cheap looking textured brushed chrome. The Panasonic features a nice sleek piano black bezel that appears far more professional.
2. Picture. Yes, the Panasonic has noticeably better display quality, which is really the content, right? Clearer, deeper blacks, etc. Really just better picture quality in every single way.
3. Better sound. The Panasonic has more/better speakers.
4. The Samsung includes a terrible, loud buzzing sound (moreso in bright scenes) that's audible once you sit/stand directly as you're watching TV. Count on me, it gets very annoying, and may be described as a deal-breaker for the majority of. The Panasonic is really as quiet as a mouse.
5. The Panasonic is much thinner as opposed to Samsung.
6. The Panasonic's wall-mounting holes are closer together, vertically and horizontally. What this means is there are many more alternatives for configuring where you screw in your wall bracket versus how you screw the mounting hooks in the TV to the TV to hold in which you want for the wall. That is HUGE if you are likely to mount the television.
If you're deciding involving the Samsung plasma versus the Panasonic plasma, the Panasonic definitely wins. Or even if you are seeking any large-panel TV, here is the best bang-for-the-buck TV you'll find inside a 2012 television.|
Excellent TV. Great bang-for-the-buck
I started with Consumer Reports to get their objective opinions, then moved to Amazon reviews and Cnet articles. Triangulating these three sources led me on the Panasonic Viera TC line, in particular the ST50. I shopped around at local stores (Biggest score, etc..) to see the TVs close up and as well as that compares along with other options (mostly the comparable Samsung offering).
I discovered that the Panasonic offered a much better quality picture in comparison to the Samsung while i compared them alongside. Used to do give points to Samsung for including 3D glasses (Panasonic you have to buy separately).
Now i own it installed I can confirm the superb picture. I've not hooked it up to my house speakers yet, so could also observe that the baked in speakers usually are not bad.
The glossy screen posseses an anti-glare coating, but when it's in a very room with windows facing it, you'll probably stil incorporate some glare in the daytime. I did not have this sort of setup within my family area. My house has windows perpendicular towards the TV, and I've had no glare issues.
The Viera baked in apps are very nice intuitive. I opted to save lots of ~$300 and opt for the ST50 vs. the GT50, and so the baked in browser doesn't support flash. Used to do this when i planned to plug the television into my home PC anyways, so failed to need this indigenous to the television. Other, than flash, though, it surfs the net okay.
2 the things i would strongly suggest if you opt for this:
1. Opt for the "choose the time" delivery when you have that option. I could select a 3 hr window for delivery, and Amazon hit it. The delivery guy brought the unit in my house and agreed to uncrate and set it up only needed. Now THAT's service!
2. If you are wall mounting your unit, invest in a cheeta mount (Cheetah Mounts Plasma LCD Flat Screen TV Articulating Full Motion Dual Arm Wall Mount Bracket For 32-65" Displays Around 165LBS Black With 10' Broadband HDMI Cable With Ethernet Fits As much as 24" Studs) I got usually the one linked here which has been 3X cheaper than equivalent mounts I came across out and about (and better built!)
Amazing Display quality and Value
I will claim that I had to switch my first ST50 to have an excessively loud buzzing noise. I called Panasonic to create a service call, and after getting passed around last but not least got a moment scheduled, then their subcontractor called me to schedule a consultation, although I already though I needed made one. Works out the "appointment" Panasonic offers you is simply a bid, and also the subcontractor who will the repair actually schedules the appointment. I wound up just returning it to Amazon plus they sent me another one, which time there isn't any loud buzzing.
On the very first set I simply turned it on and put on the extender normally. I didn't do any enter or prep and the picture looked great. Around the second set, I decided to accomplish the panel prep after which utilize calibration settings posted online (check some highdef forums with this). It appears absolutely amazing and i also can't stress the requirement of a calibration. Simply using the common settings doesn't make this happen TV justice.
With nevertheless, if you are considering an LCD/LED TV, it's a completely different ballgame. This TV has a smaller amount brightness (although with window treatments it is plenty bright), as well as the colors doesn't seem artificial or enhanced. Motion is butter smooth and flows naturally. This is the perfect TV for the home cinema room, that is the best way I am deploying it. It's mated to a Pioneer VSX-1021K running through Polk RTi speakers, so I can't reply to the internal TV speakers, although I'm sure they may not be much better or worse than most other TVs. Last but not least, regarding burn-in/image retention, I have never noticed any of that, which after watching sporting events for a couple hours, I can't get any IR. I seriously think to get burn in you'll need to leave a similar image about the TV screen for the days, much like on old CRT monitors.
If you are thinking about a plasma, this really is definitely the tv screen to get, and you'll have some funds left over.
So far excellent!
TV is great! I needed to tweak some of the picture controls to match my room lighting but was very impressed at all the "Advanced" settings you can access as needed. Audio is a little weaker than the Samsung i miss the qwerty keyboard.
Overall I give this TV a Elegant rating!
Awesome Panel, Awesome Picture
Have not noticed an individual demonstration of IR, incidentally and slight hum only noticeable within 2 inches with the panel. Have not tried 3D yet. Blu-Ray looks solid. Awesome purchase, would highly recommend.
The best TV your money can buy in 2012.
Black levels are using this world. They handily beat my full array LED backlit LCD I own that resides in my bedroom. As for brightness, this TV will get plenty bright. Whites are WHITE. Do NOT go by any particular item at Best Buy under those harsh lighting conditions. If you wish to really asses the picture quality you want to do so in a controlled environment. Luckily, I was able to view this TV under regular viewing conditions before purchase i was blown away.
I wasn't a major fan of 3D before I got myself this TV but thought we would grab a couple of the new Panasonic 3D glasses since I already owned a PS3 and some 3D blu-rays. It's actually pretty great. I have fun with this a lot more when compared to the theater. Crosstalk is minimal, and it's also only visible on certain movies. Motion is buttery smooth. I can't say enough about image quality. There isn't any panel buzz on my small unit. The TV is usually good to look at. I ran the D-nice slides in the evening while We have slept over the last Ten days. I have seen simply no image retention. I do a variety of OTA HD broadcasts, Blu-Ray, Apple TV, and PS3/Xbox 360 gaming.
The bad.
The apps all work just fine but you are somewhat sluggish and therefore are inferior in performance to my Xbox 360 and PS3, nevertheless they are certain to get the work done.
There is a few glare using this TV, it is not bad, however it is there. You don't need windows behind your when viewing, mine are to the correct from the TV and do not cause any problems.
Bottom Line.
If you care about actual image quality , nor wish to spend $3,000 with a TV take a look no further. Seriously, just stop. I'm demanding this also TV passed the exam. I experienced it almost two weeks and it still blows me away after i watch it.
Great TV, good price, happy customer
After while using TV more than weekly I will state that We are very impressed. The colors are fantastic and also the brightness can also be plenty of (unless you want to get a tan, jk!). I mainly apply it watching sports (NBA, MLB, soccer), movies, and cartoons and have not had issues with either of these. Netflix and Amazon Prime streaming quality is very good.
There is some humming about the TV however you must place your ear on the back or side of the TV and fairly close to it (within 10 inches) to know it. My principal interest was the load in the thing. It is pretty heavy mentioned previously inside specs. I needed the assistance of another adult to make it on the wall. I still gave it five stars as a result of image quality along with the value.
THE BEST there is ...
I'm an excellent fanatic and considered the "Consumer Shopper" for many of my friends doing every one of the research and pricing alternatives for anything I order. With regards to a Plasma television of the quality and price range, there is absolutely no beating Panasonic. I purchased my first Panasonic plasma in 2007, a 42" 720p with 1080i capability and possess been thrilled from it today with virtually no difficulty with the set, so after seven years, I finally made a decision to upgrade and started looking around.
I returned to Panasonic to look recently but was surprised to determine the newest "Price Protection" that a lot of with the manufacturers have in place making negotiations and sale prices (of great importance and interest) one thing of the past. So I purchased a Samsung PN51E550 (51") for a vacation home for approximately $800. What a mistake. I'm an artistic Director in graphics and picky on color reproduction. The image on the Samsung was absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to alter. Skin tones too red, whites not bright, blacks flat. The worst thing was the sound along with the dead "thump" and rattle for the most part volume levels. Horrible - so back it went.
I'd given up on my upgrade until I ran across this model and value on Amazon - my best shopping spot as always. This set is on discount sales often for maybe a couple hundred dollars off with the big box stores, but Amazon can best the top box store's best price in case you visit often. This set is everything required plus more. AMAZING color reproduction right out from the box, internal WiFi/Ethernet therefore i would not must upgrade my Panasonic Blu-Ray having a streaming option (for Netflix, etc.) and gave me a spare videos online player using my former (Sony SMP-200 from Amazon) elsewhere simply because this set has that come with built in. The media playing feature is INCREDIBLE along with the interface a lot better than Sony, Roku, or AppleTV. You may even organize those things as you wish on the watch's screen. Setup with Netflix and my AMAZON PRIME video be the cause of streaming was a breeze. I came across in my research that you need to not adjust the color/brightness settings for 100 hours of break-in using the "Pro" functions, but merely the built-in settings are Much better than anything I really could ever achieve around the Samsung that has been returned. I was "told" from the big box Panasonic representative the technology with this set's screen comes from the 2011 GT/VT top end TVs, however i can't confirm it. It's amazing I'll tell you that.
My original Panasonic 42" was moved to the master bedroom and also, since it had been always hooked up to an AV sound system, I had created forgotten how amazing the built-in speakers have been in Panasonic products. This 55" Panasonic is best of all. Not only are the speakers and sound reproduction amazing, it features a built-in rear-facing "subwoofer" to give it that extra kick. I've had a (junk) Bose speakers for many years and subwoofers relax. I recently faced the Bose subwoofer toward a corner of the wall and so what can you already know - BASS! Panasonic has figured this out and placed their "subwoofer" accordingly on the back of the set. There can be an adjustment depending on how far through the wall the set is always to adjust the sound reverb too. The 3D is 3D and admirable at 2D to 3D conversion. The glasses because of this set (just as one option not included) are $79 at the big box stores and do you know what - I managed to get them for $50/pair on (surprise) AMAZON. The thin clear rim of the TV reads as aluminum in a few light and is also a supplementary attraction. The bottom mount is stunning in a very sleek aluminum look design unlike the black plastic box look of all sets. The remote is admirable, nothing special but has the key functions available and at-hand. There can be a cool Viera App on iTunes for people iPhone iPad folks that offers you every one of the function of the remote and more in your mobile oral appliance works GREAT. An execllent use of the mobile App from Panasonic would it be carries a function which you could type in the passwords in the "texting" mode devoid of to handle the remote (annoying)
I was able to stream the movies already on my small Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Home 2 TB STAM2000100 (from AMAZON of course) immediately without any problems out of this set. Another feature I want to note are these claims set is half the depth of my 2007 in a very sleek 1.5-2" and puts off WAY less heat. My 2007 is rated at 450 watts operating power, this model under 100 and also the power usage sticker says the annual usage price is around $25-30 a YEAR. If I've not convinced one to hit "Add to Cart" chances are nothing is else I can do. This Panasonic is the foremost quality, cost, reliability and satisfaction associated with a set around.
UPDATE:
Well it is often four months now along with the Plasma can be as fine as it ever was!
* I've come to find out how the 3D (and glasses I bought) are pretty useless, and fun for an hour. No problem for Panasonic, just not practical. You also have to hang them off the left side of the set to charge since there is no stand-alone changer. Someone smarter who might choose to void their warranty could find a work-around.
* I've yet to customize the color et.al. like in my older Panasonic Plasma. Let me rephrase, the older you are set to "Vivid", this place to "Normal". With the Samsung's I took back I really could NEVER get good color - or sound.
* Ab muscles ANNOYING point about this "Smart TV" is basically that you can't set the aspect ratio when working with NetFlix, or Amazon and that i are only able to presume the remainder. It's to letterbox, or get together my SMP-N200 or 100 - neither offering from Sony. If you'll be able to pick up a Sony SMP-N200 for $50 on Amazon Take action! They are perfect and acquire ... well Amazon Prime streaming and Apple TV Will not!
*Viera Cast: I've only tried on the extender for NetFlix and Amazon and DNLA - which works well! The Amazon interface is junk though and yes it doesn't have "favorites". It doesn't even h ave the same seasons make an appearance that they can do on my Sony's or Apple TV. YES, all the software continues to be updated and it is current.
FINAL CALL:
I would with this set again, and time and again!!! The quality exceptional the image unsurpassed! I purchase a particular "Employee Purchase Program" price through my employer for this set, i really only paid $1,075.00 to get it to my door WITH tax and (amazing) delivery from Panasonic. So the above mentioned "Updates" don't have any importance because I paid $700-800 under retail and i also didn't need those options anyway - only the ethernet connect.
BUY IT, you may not be sorry.
Excellent Massive Plasma TV
I highly recommend this TV.
Outstanding
This TV is phenomenal, the style quality is amazing along with the sports are awesome.
The colors are rich and vibrant.
This TV have an overabundance brightness than other plasma's for daylight use.
You can begin to play using the setting for a sharp image like an LCD or LED with the Plasma colors.
No back-light or bright corner just like the LCD-LED.
The base is solid and make in quality.
The TV is not the most beautiful but look modern.
The TV control is often a dinosaur too bulk. Maybe for people with vision issue is perfect.
The Viera apps work perfectly but a bit slow.
I ensure that you compare a HDMI monster cable 3D max 21gbps using a 10.2 gbps cheap hdmi cable and then for me are similar I don't use whatever improvements in 2D or 3D. If anyone have another opinion please post your comments. The sole which i want is usually to have the most beautiful image for my TV.
My only problem is this TV merely has one Custom Setting. To me it's necessary no less than 2 since the 3D settings need different image setting and also you must switch the signal from 48hz to have a better 3D.
If you will need cheap glasses you should use the Samsung SSG-4100GB for $20. This glasses are 100% suitable for this model. We've 4 of this glasses for that visits but this glasses aren't good with excessive light space for the reason that lens are open. Also I prefer because use battery and are not rechargeable, I dispise cables.
I will give you a Calibration which i saw in another site for the sharp image in 2D should you prefer a quite different image.

Awesome tv...great price!
Outstanding tv!
Great TV to the Price.
by far the most effective tv's i've informed about person. From your crisp picture on the amazing blacks it makes, it truly makes
you feel like you are searching right into a window. I had been truly blown away how some scenes looked, when i didn't expect it to produce
such deep blacks. I watched the Dark Knight also it was just fantastic how well it produced the image. It was with no
color option tuning and right out the lamp set to cinema. With some adjustments from online sources from the quick google search of other bands settings, I dialed the tv screen in custom mode and was again blown away with simply how much better it looked. Besides display quality, it's also packed with features, 3D, Netflix, Smart Apps, iOS/Andriod handheld remote control app, wifi, ect ect.
The only bad I can think are the speakers don't leave much to get desired however when investing such a money in a tv, you can not merely be using the TV speakers. I suggest an audio system even when it's only an audio bar to boost the sound. Honestly, to it's defense, most tv's don't really include amazing speakers, i really really can't detract a star to the. Another thing that kinda annoyed me plus it really isn't bad is when you turn the television on, for about 3 seconds possibly even it comes with an ad that displays on the bottom in the tv. It isn't really a huge deal, its usually for Panasonic or considered one of their products but none the less i might rather it not accomplish that.
Also, the the television won't include glasses however, there's no need to get actual Panasonic glasses. You are able to grab the samsung ones approximately 1/2 the price and they also work every bit as good for it.
Pros:
Amazing Picture Quality
Great Bang for the Buck
Smartphone Intergration to manage tv
Wifi
Apps like netflix and such
Works to brand 3D glasses that are much cheaper
Cons:
Speakers not really that great
small add when turning tv on
Panasonic is the best !!
So far - this TV continues to be everything I hoped
Can't believe it's butter!
Perfect....Never heard countless WOW's inside my bedroom before :)
the best cost/effective TV existing and mostly recommended
I’m watching only HD video and also some 3D videos/movies.
Picture: Image quality is amazing. The picture is indeed clear it looks better than the way would actually.
I were required to disable among the important feature “Motion smoother” because it type of annoying seeing once in a while better of the screen. By reading some forums, I am aware that usually people disable the same feature for almost any other manufacture.
The 3D is usually amazing – in case you consider buying 3D TV (and today unsure the reasons you don’t) Active shatter is the foremost approach to take – one of many real important basis for it, is that with Active Shatter you are receiving true HD picture (passive 3D provide about 50% in the image quality).
I think today, this can be a best cost/effective TV existing and mostly recommended.
What I dislike relating to this TV:
Can’t use motion smoother although it’s essential feature.
While starting 3D video and pressing 3D about the remote. The material display on screen hold for too long time, if you don't press “OK” the bit annoying.
The 3D glasses can be very expensive.|
Great TV, Great Value
I've experienced not one of the plasma drawbacks mentioned - no buzzing, almost no heat produced (noticeably under my 42" Samsung LCD). In general, this is a great tv set. I got a good deal from Paul's TV (refer to them as to negotiate). The 65" screen is large, but, man, it's sweet!
Great TV, Great Price
One great feature will be the 3 HDMI inputs. They're very close to the extra edge of the TV so don't buy cables with long strain relief or they might stick out after dark edge and be visible. There's also an R-G-B input which comes with an input for analog audio and video in (RCA) and Panasonic includes the custom adapter - very nice.
This TV also saved me some $$ by letting me postpone ordering a whole new home cinema tuner. By with all the 3 HDMI inputs on the TV I can put digital car stereo in to the TV. Then the tv screen posseses an optical digital audio out will send to my current tuner (a high-end Denon unit that is certainly almost 14 years old). Otherwise I would also have to acquire a new tuner with HDMI inputs after which mail out via HDMI from your tuner for the TV. This optical audio out i want to maintain your digital audio and great audio quality without resorting to a brand new tuner.
I was also VERY impressed with the speakers with this TV. They sound Superior to the 43" Samsung plasma We have inside Master BR. If you do not possess a center channel speaker for the multichannel you might easily utilize TV. The in unit speakers blended within my Klipsch surround speakers. Impressive.
The frame about the TV is a bit cheesy, it's black plastic with about 1/4" of clear bead round the edge. I keep waiting for it to glow blue once i connect via wireless through Viera. The Viera very effective, it's easily accessed from the remote and things load quickly. I was impressed achievable too. Eventually I'll hardwire via CAT5, though the wireless is performing a lot better than expected so far.
I haven't tried the 3D, mostly because I do not have any glasses. Too bad you don't reach least 2 pair with the TV, but with this price I suppose it's not so bad.
I prefer the plasma picture to LCD/LED. Those are "too perfect" and too crisp - even actual looks like a cartoon. I just like the softer picture of a Plasma, commemorate things look more real if you ask me. Panasonic has surpassed my expectations and I love this huge TV at this small price. I would recommend this to anyone trying to find a new TV.
This TV is fantastic, Warehouse deal would have been a steal! just buy it thru Amazon
I ponied up and bought the Panasonic having looked at it alongside with a local local store. WOW.
Again, I selected the very best Amazon Warehouse deal according to their accurate descriptions from the "flaws". I only say "flaws" because both Samsung as well as the Panasonic were supposed to have got all forms of "minor cosmetic damage" and i also never may find the difficulties along with the Panasonic runs beautifully. (warehouse deal ran me $1750, SOOOO happy)
I downloaded the D-Nice slides, (Used to do play a few Video games and watched two movies inside before the 100 hour pre-calibration "break-in" finished) Applied D-nice's settings and simply amazing. The image quality is first-rate. I have merely one window within my theater room and off and away to the medial side so no issues there. Love the "Game" picture setting, it's great for Black Ops 2 and Skyrim ZERO motion blur. SO cool. D-Nice's settings will need some adjusting, fresh fruits those settings are legit--for dark rooms. Think perfect movies colors and contrast. It takes getting accustomed to but when your eyes adjust you should have an "oh, I purchase it now" moment and you should observe your movies should be observed. Can't say enough positive things about Amazon's customer support with this one i LOVE showing this television. It's fantastic.
65 inches of WOW Factor!
Glare/Reflection n't any worse then a newer 3D LED TV's the thing is this seem to have reflections (Samsung, LG, Panasonic). Reflection is much LESS than the UT50 series Panasonic plasmas the thing is that in the (blue and yellow) big box store.
Very astonished at how good the set are at converting 2D into 3D. Actual 3D content (ESPN3D on DirecTV for example) is incredible.
We thoroughly enjoyed watching Pitt BEAT Michigan (football) the 2nd day there was the set.
Technical aspects of the video are merely what every review says ... fantastic; blacks, skin color and color out in the box.
PANASONIC VIERA 55-INCH PLASMA TV
Panasonic VIERA TC-P55ST50 55 - Inch 1080P
But I will tell you against all the reviews along with the running back and forth for the electronic stores
has made me visit a conclusion that this TV(Panasonic ST50) has the most effective pictures That i've ever seen!!!
Don't misunderstand me, there are additional tv's with remarkable pic quality. I received my Panny from Amazon
brand new and shipped for $1128.00!!!! Very few tv's can touch the quality of pic to the price...
Not to mention which it looks great also.
With everyone saying they hear the buzzing sound and lots of heat over tv, well let me just say you
No buzzing here and also a little warm no furnace, like some individuals say. All around this tv does exactly what it should
do, that is certainly present you with Great pic quality, looks good, performs awesome, and is also cheaper than most tv's with
this volume of quality... In basic terms, A BANG For your BUCK!!!!
Wow!! best bang unquestionable !
Great Picture/Size/Price! Plasma rules over LCD
Amazing upgrade
Best balance worthwhile and performance
One plasma to rule them!
Beautiful picture
I strongly suggest adjusting the image settings to check those utilized in the CNET review (see [...]). This creates a far superior picture compared to one of the factory default settings.
Awesome TV!
Great Tv Great Price
Love this TV
Delivery was very quickly and so they even carried to my basement for no expense.
Love this TV
REAL Info.
I wall placed on a cabinet and worked behind the set although it was on. There were no Buzzing or excessive heat as described in other reviews.
3-D works well and takes some getting use to. I prefer a less expensive Panasonic DMP-BDT321P BLU-ray I got myself at Walmart and
TY-ER3d4MU & XPAND 104 glasses from Amazon. The XPAND necessitates the buying the RF Dongle that require me to pay a different $53.oo.
At 6 feet that is like IMAX but at 18 feet within our long narrow room 3-D still works & picture is apparent and intensely well defined in any way angles. The savings within the 65" or even more much more exspensive units with face reconition makes video genuine article which i can't beat.
Simply beautiful
The 3D glasses are somewhat awkward due to their facial ergonomics and also the view range or width from the glasses, one's vision isn't filled and also the frames have emerged.
Internet abounds using this beautiful television. I would like an authentic QWERTY keyboard to browse and employ the applications more proficiently and effectively. However, it's not a concern because i usually do not spend exorbitant durations online features; minus firmware updates naturally. Easily stood a camera for this and failed to use Kinect for XBOX 360, Skype could be quite cool.
Concerning design, the elegant border of glossy black plastic is thin and hardly occupies some of the front's real estate, taken mostly through the gorgeous screen. Furthermore, the metal nickel brushed base is heavy and keeps it grounded well without excessive shaking with vibrations around it. Including I have familiar with other large screen T.V.'s It provides an unnoticed, yet visually pleasant touch. Connecting and creating is merely and. It is deemed an excellent oral appliance perfect for the cost point.
Never thought I'd own a plasma
In addition, the numerous issues I pointed out are very not issues, anymore. They now last as long as LED or High definition tvs (or near enough as to not make any difference), they don't utilize all that much more energy than LCD/LED today, image retention issues happen to be improved a great deal in the past, and brightness has improved a good deal as well (that is all from some tips i have read or been told).
A few other points:
- Image Retention: I have kids who watch the TV. Despite my many warnings about not leaving static images up, considered one of my kids turned on pandora around the receiver (which doesn't have a screen saver) and left it with all the static pandora interface (black background, white-colored boxes) up for around 7 hours! Needless to say, the style was true when watching tv and particularly when showing any colors on the watch's screen. I was heartbroken. However, after two nights with "break-in" slides running, the image was basically gone. A week of regular tv watching later, it was completely gone. Needless to say, this became after the TV ended up somewhat broken in (at the very least 200 hours). If that have happened as they are, I am not sure if it would ever disappear.
- Brightness: It is in us room which includes 4 windows close to it (in the kitchen area) plus a sliding clear glass door. Even in the daytime with all of the windows and curtains open, I can tell the television fine (none of these windows are directly behind me while We are watching - instead, they are aside). With much ambient light, the tv doesn't look as good, for sure, however i don't have any trouble seeing the proceedings. But should i be watching a movie or something like that, however close the blinds as well as the appearance improves dramatically.
- 3D: This can be a a weakness of the TV. I bought 6 cheap Samsung 3D glasses and i am simply not very impressed. This is but one case where this indicates darker and uneven considering that the glasses are cutting out 50 % of the light (active shutter). I wish they'd used passive for this plasma like they did using the LED TV I bought. Fortunately I take advantage of 3D Hardly ever, therefore it is not really a big problem in my experience.
- Sound: Another weak spot that was also a a weakness about the Panasonic LED. The quality of sound is sub-par. Some tweaking of settings helps, but it's pretty bad overall. I usually only use my receiver and speakers unless I would not need to comprehend what is being said.
- Buzzing: I haven't noticed the buzzing in any respect, i are very nitpicky in relation to buzzing noises that way. However, there are sometimes while i turn the television on then turn the volume as a result of talk to someone and my daughter asks the buzzing noise is. I need closer to even see it, though. I have no idea of, maybe my hearing is certainly going, but at the very least for my tv this is not even near a worry.
Great TV, apps not too great
Exceeds Expectations!
I adjusted the original settings about the brightness and contrast and also the result was WOW!
Amazing detail, particularly in dark scenes. The 3D results are also amazing. This tv does an admirable job of converting 2D content to 3D.
It also looks great on the wall when powered off.
picture is beautiful
Top notch TV after lots of adjustments
Fantastic
Awesome TV!
Best TV I've ever owned
While expecting the new TV to arrive I was able to fix it I thought blew up.
I sold my Samsung LCD and thought we would keep the new Panny. We are happy with the Panny, it really is among the best rated/reviewed sets currently in the marketplace.
It carries a great picture with deep black levels. There's no buzzing sound via my set. Internal WIFI is great, just bare at heart in case your network password has symbols you simply must press certain keys too many times to get the symbol you are searching for. Used to do call Panny to check out this. Customer support was fast (he did put my on hold to get the answer personally). Overall, very impressed with Panny CS as well as their beautiful set.
Note We are currently running at half brightness to get a enter period. Uncertain if it is necessary, I have seen different opinions about this.
Meet our expecttion
The image quality of this 55' is superb and it is exactly what we'd like.
We cannot build the wireless connection, however, this maybe because of incompatibility with all the AT&T router
Our only compliant may be the acylic frame, it's similar to plastic not glass
Delivery is great, they open this area ensure the product is in working condition and offer help move the tv screen to the entertainment room and clean up package box.
Great TV
I wanted:
1) Great picture (who doesn't)
2) Intuitive interface and setup
3) Internet (Skype and video streaming) capabilities
4) Plasma instead of LED or LCD for better viewing from angles.
Bottom line: I got everything I wanted. I am certainly not a Panasonic fan, but my research lead me to this particular model and I chose it. Glad Used to do.
One word of caution: If you would like to Skype, purchase the Panasonic TY-CC20W camera. I went through 2 Logitech cameras that were advertised as compatible, but weren't. The Panasonic camera was plug&play.
Amazon home delivery service was perfect. After 5 months of utilizing, I could recommend this TV without hesitation.
so far reviews started using it right
Panasonic TC-55ST50 Plasma
Best acquiring 4 seasons!
Good value for your product
I am very impressed
- buzz - big concern of mine- only on the big white screen display noticeable and also than little or no by no means very important anymore for me
- picture - fantastic very little else to state - have never seen anything like it
- sound - for the 55 inch perfect and clear and nice - around the 50 inch I used to be not very impressed
- 3D I haven't tested yet
- these HDMI outlet are acceptable for me - however i are able to see others may need more
- the 50 inch has a swivel along with the 55 inch is stable
- Amazon has great pricing and wound up buying local form Paul's Tv for the reason that price was the identical and i also felt I owe it to MI to by local - Paul's TV showed the same great customer service It's my job to see with Amazon
- overall I will be very happy I purchased the TV also to switch to the 55 inch, I will nto find anything negative - I love movies and the different viewing modes are fantastic - for sport fans I cannot say but would not understand why the image wasn't adequate.
I am delighted with all the purchase
Best tv ever.
Great
Great overall purchase
Panasonic 55" Plasma HD
Beautiful and fast
Awesome tv
The blacks are rich and deep, no spotlighting or shadowing.
The picture holds up adequately even a room with a level of sunlight.
My first Flat Panel TV. And it ROCKS!
Picture: Absolutely stunning. It truly is. You can find many settings that one could adjust to really have the image you would like. But don't worry. This baby can and will be bright, clear, and beautiful. The one solution that annoys me about newer TV's, I used to be capable of switch off: Motion Smoothing. Many films and Television shows are naturally filmed having a specific motion blur that is certainly considered the best looking viewing experience. Having that reclaimed out by MOTION SMOOTHING, makes the image look fake, and CG images look comical. But donrrrt worry! You'll be able to turn it off (it actually has 4 settings: Off, Weak, Medium, Strong). Can get on while viewing a photo by visiting Menu>Picture>Advandced Picture(on third page)>Motion Smoother.
Hooking it for your computer and worried about Plasma images burning in? Avoid being: Plasma technology has come a long strategies a brief time period of energy. This TV features a lot of features that keep any type of "plasma burn" totally from exploding. Automobile image stays on screen, stationary (computer set up, internet browsing), right after minutes the picture will become spinning around. Additionally there is a timer it is possible to set, to make the television off after having a set time period without interaction. Ideal for watching a motion picture which you may get to sleep to.
SmartTV Features: They're actually really cool if you are using Netflix, Hulu, and AmazonPrime. It genuinely virtually eliminates the need to hook it up in your computer. So think about that. And if you've got a good wireless router, and also a good cable modem, the Wireless is totally fast enough to stream HD content. Yes, I still advise a network cable, because its faster. Period.
Set-up: Easy. Enough said.
Form Factor: Awesome. Very thin, easily wall-mountable if that is your personal style. Stock stand is relatively sturdy, and to assemble. The whole TV design is quite nice.
Speakers: You should not connect it to a sound system. But choosing crazy to not should you be buying a TV this good and intend on just using the built-in speakers.
All in every, I strongly suggest it! You'll not be disappointed!|
First plasma for a paranoid
I am paranoid. Read: very sensible to details, seeing and hearing items that the average joe doesn't, noticing the littlest issues and blowing them from proportion, etc. Besides I own a 40/40 vision (It doesn't exist, it is simply a figure of speech) and very fine hearing.
This is my first plasma, I had a 28" Coby LCD before because we're watching only maybe couple of hours of TV every week. We're only playing DVDs, stream Netflix/YouTube, watching Zakaria's GPS on CNN however i finally stepped into the Modern day and I've bought this ST50.
Installation
I'm pretty techy so I've setup everything easily from unboxing to mounting, calibration, Wi-Fi connection, etc. No problems.
First impression
What the hell is that this? Can it be broken? Allow me to explain:
1. Posterization. All plasmas have this challenge of granulation / noise problem / dancing pixels, which is called Posterization. Learn about it here [...] and here [...]. Basically when you've got below ideal sources -- which happens 98% of times -- and you're simply near to the screen, you're going to get this effect.
I was 3 ft away from the TV and that i thought it's broken. Even with the top source (1080p image) you can view it. However, go even further away form the screen (like 5 ft) and it is gone, you are unable to find it anymore.
2. Line bleeding. Find about it here [...] Basically you'll see this with the rating screen before trailers and flicks (saving money background with white fonts) as well as in a few other cases. There is not any way you can get rid of it, it's another plasma characteristic.
3. This one doesn't bother me but I'll mention it because Someone said about it in otherreviews: Buzzing. Yes, it can buzz. The brighter the image, the louder it gets. Could you hear it? Provided that it's complete silence and you're closer than 6 ft. In other words, no, you don't listen to it if you do not have three ears.
I've noticed these issues inside the first minutes of operation and I was bent on sending it back to Amazon for the reason that initial two. I'm accustomed to computer LCDs that happen to be perfect, it doesn't matter how close you happen to be for the screen, therefore i thought this is correct for plasmas too. After a little bit of reading it happens it is not like this.
I quickly drove to your nearby Frys and examined a few of the TVs displayed. The LCDs didn't exhibit any of the three issues, nevertheless the colors were more artificial and unrealistic. However Each of the plasmas had the same issues as mine, approximately.
Conclusion
I'll ensure that is stays. Watching it in normal conditions (from the couch, 6 ft away) the quality it's amazing. You are unable to start to see the posterization as well as the line bleeding it is extremely rare. There isn't any audible buzzing. Super deep blacks, excellent brightness as it's needed. Very little reflection. No motion problems. I'm happy and that i would def. recommend it.
Hope this helps other paranoids available. And sorry for my poor English, it isn't really my first language. As well as the effects a generous glass of Malibu Rum with Pepsi Max :D
Beautiful picture but it does radiate some heat
Back to the TV. It has a very smooth and crisp picture, as touted by CNET and also other friends that have owned Panasonic plasma. I was hesitant about Panasonic plasma too however i figured it was entering space I built for it inside my entertainment center, not hung on the wall where you can see its profile. I also heard it uses more energy, It was like $30 annually more (under $3 a month - I considered it reasonably limited for better image quality - I pay for anything else anyways like HD channels, caller identification, etc.). I like the picture. Plus, when else do you get to pay less cash for better made (picture). I think I would experienced to pay $4,000 for a comparable LED TV. The TVs only become better and cheaper, so I like to buy on the high middle range where I get good technology in a reasonable price.
I noticed it can give off noticeable heat. I can appear it once i reach into my cabinets from the TV. It's can double as yet another flames on your home. Just kidding - it doesn't give off that much. I guess this could be a concern, for those who have bad circulation in a very room. For my family room configurations, no effect us whatsoever.
My two cents....
Just Awesome
best out there
Great TV nevertheless, you will get it cheaper other places
What I'm not really happy about is Amazon's "price" match/guarantee. I just found this TV at Fry's for $999. I contacted Amazon because of their low price guarantee and possess been receiving the run-around which is totally atypical of Amazon customer support. First they denied the claim because price matching is just prepared for other web sites. So off I went along to Frys.com and affirmed they have it listed there for $999. After informing them of this and asking concerning the claim they denied it for the following reason:
"The current price for auction on frys.com is $999.00. After factoring in $129.99 for handling and shipping costs from frys.com for a shipping address, the all inclusive costs would be $1128.99. You paid $1,297.99 to your Amazon.com order."
So I am not sure what kind of math these are using at Amazon but last time I checked $1128 is below $1297. Although I recognize they wish to add the shipping and handling cost why then not are the cost of my Amazon Prime membership that is how I am able to get "free" shipping.
And here's the irony. I still the required time to go back the TV for any refund, so if I want to to go through the effort I'm able to send it back and purchase it from my local Fry's high will be no shipping charges.
Summary: great TV you won't be disappointed but shop around as you can find this unit cheaper elsewhere.
UPDATE-----UPDATE----UPDATE
I answered Amazon's denial email and received notice today that they are issuing reimbursement. So kudos to Amazon for that no-nonsense refund, at least everyone agreed there were an amount difference. I'd give Amazon a B- for this one in the finish they did come through so time for it to go watch some awesome TV!
Excellent TV ... Amazing picture quality.
This is a superb TV with amazing features and an impressive picture. Did a custom setting based off one of the earlier reviewers
inputs, Not disappointed in any respect. The blacks are only amazing on this tv. Try watching DARK KNIGHT. you'll like it. Internet features are
great. Netflix video quality was good. This television just isn't created for sub standard video quality such as the ones online.
I had my doubts on using this TV in a very naturally lit room nevertheless the picture used to be great. Haven't tested 3d. wil update further.
only con i possibly could contemplate this could be the quality of sound. The sound levels are very close to all of the movies i managed to get to view.
60" ST50 Review
I became hesitant at first about investing in a plasma, as my living room has 4 windows along with a double sliding clear glass door towards the porch. This TV is utterly fine to observe during the day, despite having most of my blinds open. Almost no glare, and honestly I don't even notice it unless I truly look hard correctly.
Stunning picture at night. The very best that I've ever seen on a TV, and all sorts of my friends have commented about how great the image quality is.
No buzzing sound at all from 10' away. Regardless if Time passes behind the panel and listen, it's extremely faint.
No IR (image retention) whatsoever, in spite of watching Olympic coverage within the past three days straight.
If you're on the fence about purchasing the ST50, function it. You do not regret this purchase.
The only thing not perfect in regards to the order was the "white glove" shipping. The Pilot delivery guys wouldn't normally place the TV for the stand, or first turn on the TV to try the picture quality. When I got home my family and i could actually obtain the stand assembled though in about 5 mins, in order that it became ok :)
Awesome. Purely Awesome.
Finally, get this tv. I might reccomendrhis TV to anyone. That's final.
Amazing TV. Best Bang to your Buck
Smart TV features are cool too. We have yet to use the 3D about this TV i really do NOT know how that preforms yet. I'll update my review if we opt to watch 3D.
Overall its an excellent TV. Visit Cnet to the TV settings and tweak them slightly from there. I strongly suggest utilizing their settings.
Amazing picture, wonderful features, slight hum, hope it really is long-term reliable
My only gripe about the ST50 is definitely a slight hum when the picture changes between a dark picture and also a white picture. I have come across other plasma TV's hum far louder than this unit, however it is noticeable when the audio is quiet.
In a next to each other comparison, the ST50 is among the darker Tv's.. nevertheless the color reproduction is true and accurate. I prefer this TV inside a rather bright room with multiple windows 10 ft to the correct of the TV. I do not have trouble viewing the look.
I was basically very concerned about a few of the reviews in the TV who had defective problems and difficulty with the warranty service. We have only had the TV for just two weeks and so i hope it holds out.
Did not test 3d features.
I think this TV supplies the most value and gratifaction at it's price. The anti reflective screen would be a key feature for me personally between the ST50 and UT50. In the bright room, it was important to me.|
Panasonic Plasma's the Best
When a 60 inch came up with this price using a cnet best buy editors choice I could not pass up. Off went the 50 inch to my sons bedroom. Yeah, he's spoiled! The 60ST50 came quickly with box in top condition and great professional delivery personnel. Holy crap! The picture takes my breath away. Clean and crisp! I hear not just a bit of buzzing even close up.
I use custom picture setting with contrast at 80, brightness at 54 although some use 45, color at 56 and sharpness at 35 while a good many recommendations I see are in 0. Warm 2, CATS and Video NR at 0. Pro sttings +1, 0, +2, +12, 0, +4. The blacks are fantastic and with picture brightness set lower brings the power outages more. Dark rooms would be better, nevertheless the picture is really great you figure out how to tune out any glare. Only my bright flourescent light in the kitchen is noticable. The filter does pretty well.
Often people pass by plasmas because the LCD's and LED's close to them inside the store are going to Vivid gives the appearance of a muted picture on the plasma. Plasma's pictures are superior while taking a look at realistic colors versus glaring animated looking pictures you get from LCD's. I look around my room while watching TV or a Blu-ray, as well as the colors for the Panasonic Plasma's are in keeping with the shades from the room. Watching is like an extension from the room, not really a screen. I see every piece of information in a face. Eye colors pop, and along with the motion is actually clear. Watching sports, I see the football not really a skipping stone thrown throughout the field using a tail that come with it. You won't find that in an LCD for cash if at all.
The 3D is extremely enjoyable with well fitting glasses if you choose to purchase them. The interface is not hard to use, establishing the 3D and wifi can be a snap. I bought mine for $1499 over a great sale, but easy pay full price with this TV. Aesthetically beautiful TV. All is the screen. Inputs might be lacking for some, though a TV an excellent I strongly suggest you employ the savings for any receiver and multichannel audio system with HDMI passthrough. Denon DHT-1513BA Total 650 Watt 5.1 Channel Home entertainment system with Boston Acoustics Premium Speaker System Merely have one HDMI for the TV using this method and audio quality will match the picture for any true theater experience.
I without reservation and extreme encouragement recommend the ST50 distinct Panasonic TV's. Best Buy employees tell me it's the best TV they have got and praise me for being a Plasma user. I got a much better price with Amazon. Reasons... Bang for the buck. Superb display quality that surpasses my top grade 4 year-old Panasonic THX and Panasonic durability. An example... I owned a Samsung LCD ahead of the old Panny(sonic). My son broke it using a tinker toy. Shattered the pixels for the LCD screen. What a heart breaker! I nearly got sick! We got that old Panny plasma for the replacement and immediately noticed the gap in picture. Otherwise this could happen new ST50 picture that blows it away! The Old Panny took a forceful flying Wii remote on the face from three feet rather than a scratch. Priceless! Panny's are recognized for their burn in protection technology over another Plasma. It's not going to happen. No burn in on my own 4 yr old Panny yet! Get one before they may be gone.
Beautiful product
Panasonic 55ST50
Could 't be happier, especially after using D-Nice's calibration technique.
Beyond that, might an incredible TV. The unbeatable display quality of high-end plasma along with a wonderful screen that blocks out a large amount of glare will give you the best of all possible worlds.
For the cost you are unable to beat this image quality for not remotely surprised CNET remains to be gushing regarding this. Yes, it's a somewhat more expensive than an LCD, yet it's so well worth the while for the far, far superior picture.
Best Tv I owen
Panasonic Viera TC-P55ST50
Panasonic goodness!
Absolutely love this television.
GREAT GREAT GREAT TV for the price!
Loved the TV
Extremely Happy with this TV
I have never had the opportunity to utilize 3D and so i cannot reply to that. The TV was easily connected to my home wireless network, and the integration to Netflix and Amazon Prime videos and Youtube is seamless.
I never have had the terrible difficulties with the buzzing that other folks have experienced. Obviously with very images showing a great deal of white, you are able to hear the lowest buzz if you're close to the TV, but otherwise it has not been anything noticeable. I sit 5-6 feet away, and its not even a factor.
The show stopper was watching the Avengers on Blue Ray. Wow. The Blue Ray technology is where you really reach increase the picture quality on this TV. Given the price, it had been a can't miss deal. Delighted with my purchase.|
Great TV!!!!
great picture
Great Purchase-very pleased
Excellent
Thank you Panasonic with an excellent product!
Yeah, it rocks...
Love the TV
Love it!!
Love the net features too. Immediate access to Netflix, Amazon Instant and YouTube.
WOW!!!!!
Amazing Picture
Panasonic Viera
Great for your use
We often hear period of time 'buzz' other reviews have mentioned, but only if few other sound exists. It seems to come and go, and like i said, i have only noticed it after i mute the sound.
I never have used the viera connect feature, once we stream by way of a ps3.
I would believe other reviewers until this is an excellent set for the cost point.

Loved the 42" VIERA Plazma, bought the 55"
Awesome Picture at the great price!
I would recommend this product and seller to everybody I know!
65st50 Great TV
Great TV
glued on the tube!
Excellent TV, no regrets
While looking at this TV I questioned getting in touch with upgrade on the GT or VT models. I'd not consider myself to become a "videophile" so when I checked out the screens inside store I could not differentiate. You certainly read more amazing features with all the VT, that is not things i was looking for. I simply wanted a TV having a great picture and a reasonable price. This TV is both those things.
Since purchasing the TV Furthermore, i bought the Panasonic BDT220 bluray player and also the Panasonic HTB550 speaker system. These problems connect seamlessly for the TV though Viera Link. This is the very nice feature i strongly suggest this combination or one much like it. The basic functions in the bluray player and also the speakers can be operated through the TV remote, no requirement to switch remotes or purchase a universal remote. The bluray player is VERY fast along with the speakers sound great.
I can't say enough good stuff relating to this TV and Panasonic products in general.
happy with it
Great, but.........
The best TV to your money
Panasonic is a leader in plasma technology for several years and the picture qiality of the display is simply the best.
I did however invest some time fine tunning it (Digital Video Essentials) possibly at the end it makes sense great.
Don't expect that all TV channels will look great, on such high quality display you can a lot more clearly begin to see the difference between different broadcast quality and also the image compression artefacts.
As a Blue ray dvd player display the look concerns its best. ( Baraka, Wallee).
3D? I am sure that is certainly fine but I have zero intention to look there.
Good (great) 2D is definitely acceptable for me.
TV
Amazing TV
I'm pleased to report that i'm completely satisfied with this TV! I am certainly not a specialist on every one of the techy stuff linked to TVs however i will show you what I do know and that's an excellent picture, and this TV exceeds that. I watch lots of sports along with the picture recently been amazing!
The sound is okay for my needs so when I want to upgrade that aspect I will explore an external sound system.
I haven't yet tried the 3D capabilities but will spring to the glasses at some time.
I suggest this TV, but also recommend doing your research and choosing the best TV for your needs.
Phenomenal Television
Very nice
Lives around the hype
Amazing TV, no Wake on LAN (WOL) though
Plasma still rules
I bought a 46" Smart 3-D Samsung LED at Best Buy -slick, super-thin, very light, definitely appealing, and the picture looked great in the showroom (which needless to say I knew meant nothing until I managed to get it home).
So I acquired it home, place it up- fairly easily- and also got to work on adjusting the picture. Used to do understand it to become a few things i thought was the very best it may be, but that has been not better than that relating to my defunct 720p plasma with 1080i up-conversion.
But that has been provided that watching it straight from the leading. Whenever you moved right or left, the image quality got lousy pretty quickly. And then there is the motion blurr thing- quite annoying. I tried to reside in by using it for quite a while, but sometimes not enjoy it and took it back.
So to another search on what was available, it seemed like the Panasonic 50 ST was the closest to what I used to be seeking.
The downside, especially for Best to buy, was they would not own it in store an dcould not figure out when they would (maybe another sympton with their fight to compete), and so i finished up ordering it from Amazon. The price was lowest around, an the purchase and delivery experience was flawless; the scheduled delivery option worked as advertised and i also got it when promised.
As for your TV, I could not be any happier with my choice. A flawless, rock solid picture (I used some of the settings recommended here by anothe reviewers as a starting place), impressive dark shading, and beautiful color reproduction.
I am not too enthusiastic about 3d so I did not buy the glasses, and therefore cannot commen on that.
The Web interface is functional though a little clunky -it isn't computer after all- nonetheless it does the position. Maybe which has a remote keyboard (that i do not have) might influence better to use.
My only complaint: its size- I wish they provided a 46in or even 42" with this model (all 46" and under high-end plasmas now seem to have disappeared from the market). The 50" is just too big for my taste and size of the room. I still do find TVs ugly, regardless of how sleek- the bigger the uglier.
But, in general, it has confirmed in my view that plasma still rules if image quality can be your major concer, and I recommend it.
Excellent Picture
Panasonic Continues to have It!
I concluded on the ST50 series because it's a fantastic price/features lineup. It's internal wifi with the "connected" smart-tv issues that is now standard on nice TV's. Further can i ever tend to buy glasses and observe a movie in 3D We have that option, as well as the TV does an adequate job at this. The key reason I increased from your lower model (the UT50, In my opinion) was due to the Infinite Black Panel w/ Louver Filter... Just for a quick little background, I reside in Phoenix and obtain evening sun through my windows. I became very concerned this might lead to further problems with reflection. I'm very happy to report, it really works a lot better than my 40" Sony Bravia LCD ever did due to that.
Overall I'm extremely pleased while using TV. The shades and blacks are fantastic, there's no motion blur, as there are without any noise generated through the TV (you will find there's slight hum, that will just be heard when showing a slide show of course, if you stand within 3' with the TV, and since this really is 55" plasma, you must not be within 3' of it, so it isn't an issue).
Last point: I did D'nice's enter slides and settings, and can say I'm very pleased with all the results.
Deep blacks really make a difference
A great value and a great television
Delivery from Amazon was obviously a cinch and starting the tv screen and hooking it down for the cable box, the Blu-ray player and also the Roku box would have been a snap.
I immediately went to many of the picture settings and rejected the contrast, enjoyed the colour a little and switched off the picture smoothing and that is all of the tweaking I have done. More than likely there's considerably more I'm able to tweak nevertheless it doesn't seem necessary. My old Sharp television had this type of downside to reflections which i had to view tv in the darkened room with the blinds drawn. The anti reflection about this Panasonic is really sharp to permit the day light into the room again.
I have watched Baseball, Hockey plus a re run of the college pigskin game all in HDTV along with the resolution, large as well as the sharpness are excellent. I tossed in the Fellowship in the Ring about the Blu-ray player and was stunned on the definition, the color and the beauty of the familiar movie. I have watched Netflix and Amazon Prime movies over the Wifi connection and they were good. Not in Blu-ray quality but pretty good HD quality for streaming. That has more regarding the source than the television, I am certain. I also provide Roku HD box and will probably access that more than the Panasonic's Viera applications. But that's just from habit and preference.
I downloaded the browser and downloaded the Viera remote Android application and tested the browser. It turned out fun. Clothing your primary browser however i can easily see utilizing it from time to time to find out stuff quickly. It was very easy to program the Panasonic's controls to the Logitech Harmony Remote.
This would have been a great purchase and i also recommend it for price and quality.
Wow! No really, it is deemed an awesome TV
I haven't owned a plasma but did a lot of research as I needed a larger TV for the bedroom. I upgraded from a Samsung 37" which has been already an incredibly nice TV but this thing really blows it away. The blacks, oh my, the blacks are very deep and black that we was clueless that things i was missing from without having a plasma. Sure I read regarding it, but was clueless that what people really meant. I am utilized to LCDs and LEDs and I always thought the intense screens were the top, but not any more. Now don't get me wrong, the Panansonic will do bright, along with the colors are extremely right.
If you would like a 65" TV look no further. This is the best one your money can buy in my opinion.
Awesome, but not while using out-of-the-box settings.
The clincher to me was viewing a 55" GT50 against a 55" Samsung 8000 with similar settings and also the same Blu-ray on the screen simultaneously. Thanks Greatest coupe for letting me use you for your! Side by side, the Panasonic was clearly the winner, by a ton. Blacker blacks, more realistic colors, etc, etc. Now I understand it is not a GT50, nonetheless it wasn't out yet in the 60" and also the differences in writing are negligible to me. If Panasonic's #2 is better than Samsung's #1, however figured Panasonic's #3 was sufficient - and also the price didn't hurt all the either.
As a communication, sports aren't in my tv much - but just about any devices is including a great deal of blu-ray and dvd movies.
The common negatives inside the other comments are things I haven't noticed - no noticable buzz, 3 hdmi inputs don't matter if you ask me as everything goes though a Denon receiver so I really need 1. For me personally, the noticable downsides are that there are considerable dark spots easily stop right in front from the tv at which point I'm looking just a little upon it (viewing at a downward angle). Not something useful. Also, the "improvements" in brightness get this to too bright for my taste and that i were required to produce a lots of adjustments to make it not look like an LCD with good blacks - and I do not like how LCD's generally look especially with cartoons which get yourself a large amount of play in my house - I favor realistic towards the surreal look of some blu-rays on an LCD. If I hadn't had time to 'adjust away' the out-of-the-box picture, this tv would have almost certainly gone back.
I started with CNet review settings and backed the sharpness returning to zero to get it closer to my taste. Turning off the motion smoother and all sorts of other processing enhancements made a final difference. I still need to use a number of the color adjustments within the pro settings, however i can't see changing them much where these are. I don't remember the calibration of my Samsung making this kind of huge difference and I'd chalk this up again for the brightness.
After a few weeks of viewing, I'm now convinced this is a lot better than my old Samsung - but not exponentially. This week, the 60" GT50 just appeared as available, but I think I saved about $500 for any very comparable tv. Now I simply should discover to hold the children faraway from it and I'm sure I can stomach a 60" little bit of lexan! Hope this is helpful.
thoroughly impressed
I tested against each other with Street Fighter IV, a game I've sunk hundreds of hours into through the years on a LCD, and it was impressive. Honestly it felt like a completely new game. The input response am fast along with the clarity of motion was superb. Other games Cleaning it once a (WipeOut HD, Trials Evolution, Killzone 3) fared just as well. This can be a great TV for gaming, even taking into consideration the down-side chance of temporary image retention. I've not experienced it yet, although I feared it will come on from playing WipeOut HD using its prominent HUD.
If I had created anybody complaint though, it could be the 3D. To date, We've tested several games and a few 3D trailers. I noticed a good level of crosstalk on high of it. Sometimes that is because of the content, sometimes it - but I noticed more if it here than Used to do with a passive 3D system I looked at. Needless to say, Also i noticed the higher resolution with some items. The glasses are light and chargeable and fit over my prescription glasses, so no complaints there.
The Panasonic ST50 is a great TV, fat, plasmas aren't for everyone. My opinion though, is that anyone who thinks they may need a plasma would flourish to evaluate against each other. I got talked beyond a plasma buy and regretted it soon after. I am just satisfied.
Excellent!
Great TV!
great buy
So far so great!
AWESOME
Great Picture Quality, amazing value with this model
When I saw the customer Reports rated this model Top within the category, beating the $3500. Sony XBR, it was a no brainer. CNET also gave this model extremely high marks along with other owners of this set.
I purchased this TV from Amazon for 1299.00 deliver into my house. I work it the set very easily, I did have to have the help of my buddy to help me stick it in it's base.
The image quality is amazing to me. Magnificent HD images...amazing black levels and super sharp colors. There are several different pre sets that adjust the image on the sort of program you are watching. I've discovered these to be beneficial. We've read complaints concerning the quality of sound from this set. We have this occur a 10" x 16" room and it sounds fine in my experience..Used to connect powered monitors for the set and so they really enhanced the sound. Let me eventually get a home entertainment system..I'm in the act of researching this boost my review at a later date. I wish to make best use of the audio from this set. I have not yet explored the 3D features so I will revise my review at a later time with my comments.
The wireless internet connectivity is straightforward and quick. Very simple to use to prospects who use a basic comprehension of computers.
I am not just a professional reviewer however i would suggest this set..it is just a great value @ $1299. I almost purchased the 55" Panasonic VT model but it was this type of whole lot I could not justify spending any additional money.
Perfect!
But when the TV arrived, my fears were immediately relieved. This set is totally perfect! After fiddling using the remote for just two minutes, I had been able to find an audio and picture which are both absolutely excellent and pleased me to no end!I favor very bright, very colorful images and I was easily able to dig up by investing in the conventional settings. Along with the quality of sound was excellent, even from through the room. The television performs adequately during a brightly lit room, and the picture is really clear even when landing on along side it rather than facing it.
My fiance i absolutely love the television and would recommend it to anyone! It really is particularly wonderful for watching movies! People visiting us have commented on it's superior quality too.
Panasonic TV
Amazing 3D/Depth of Field
Update 1: "Ghosting" is just not present, according to my 20/20 vision anyway. Actually, because i be familar with my new TV, I've tried the 2D to 3D upscale/convertion feature. For example, it turns my Apple TV icons into 3D. It adds depth in your favorite YouTube music video. I would the 3D effect is around 25% of a full "3D Movie". "Ghosting" only happens when your active glasses go into standby mode, or they didn't connect correctly (turn them off, back on again), that's very infrequent.
Update 2: Attention A/V receiver owners! While I'll be stating the most obvious to you personally, older receivers do not "pass through" the 3D video signal for your 3D HDTV. This means your blu-ray 3D disc is "unrecognized" through the TV and will not start. A Denon AVR-1913 solved this dilemma personally (with fantastic multichannel audio).
After researching several online reviews which are now ranking Panasonic products greater than I expected, I chosen the Panasonic 60" GT50 plasma series. I'm awe-struck.
I performed the property installation by using an associate. I purchased a 60" wall mount from Amazon and installed it myself in about an hour or so. Pick your TV's location, however work with a "stud finder" in order to anchor your TV to the wall securely. I used a measuring tape and pencil to guess my wall location, however refined the venue in line with the 16" spaced 2x4 studs behind your home's drywall. If you miss, you'll be able to spackle/repaint with no harm done. Accurately/safely installed the wall mount on your heavy/expensive HDTV is crucial. Take your time for this step.
Next, I got myself a number of 3D certified, Cat. 2 HDMI cables from Amazon. The $79.99 cables at Greatest coupe are simply $10 approximately on Amazon, according to the length. I only purchased six foot cables, and for the final finish Let me need longer. Lesson learned: don't skimp on HDMI cable length. You may "final finish" the HDTV look with paintable cable trays, or even a more aggressive "in wall" project.
There looks like it's much debate in regards to the Panasonic "active 3D" (USB charged...plug them into your HDTV USB ports and leave them on "dangle-charge" if you need). I had NO issues with the glasses I ordered from Amazon. The $80 glasses (each) at Best to buy were about $50 on here. Don't worry about the negative reviews...this indicates some people who just love older Panasonic HDTVs usually are not reading the fine print for compatibility. Download the user guide from Panasonic, obtain the spec/model glasses you'll need, and order from Amazon. These "active shutter" 3D glasses are essential that you the 3D technology, therefore i recommend following what Panasonic says to accomplish (or call and enquire of their tech support before your order). The individuals who leave one star on these glasses aren't following instructions. I do wear prescription glasses, and the 3D glasses were comfortable...(as best can be wearing two pairs of glasses). My glasses do NOT degrade the comfort/quality in any respect.
I chose the Panasonic 3D Blu ray player. I want to keep TV/Blu Ray players together from your same manufacturer. Both the TV and the Player connect with your own home WiFi (again, disregard the negative reviews about this aspect...do as instructed). You can surf YouTube, the web, Hulu, Netflix, etc from either device. I don't notice any distinction between my Sony HDTV/Blu Ray setup when it comes to normal 2D (fantastic HD) quality; however, the Panasonic 3D technology again, is amazing.
The Blu-Ray player is DLNA compatible (use Google, as necessary) for connecting to videos, music, pictures on your own home laptop/desktop computers. Warning: setting up Windows for DLNA has not been trivial for my make/model/version of Computer and Windows. Use Google to finder other users' lessons-learned should you encounter problems. Otherwise, my Blu Ray player found home network and accessed my pictures on my small laptop, because i had established with the DLNA setup. Flawless...as soon as you obtain the process established on your laptop.
I tested the device with an Aquarium 3D disc. Wow. It honestly felt like I was considering a tank by having an amazing depth-of-field. As I moved side-to-side, the 3D affect did not diminish with this 3D HDTV (my first experience). If your children lay on to the ground, someone sits off center inside a side chair, etc....everyone will love a wonderful experience. However, located on the sofa with 3D glasses on staring at an Aquarium, while relaxing did get boring after awhile. I'll maintain the $10 3D blu-ray to show off the system.
I tried several 3D movies simply to preview the standard of 3D effects. Harry Potter 7 (Pt. 2), How you can Tame a Dragon, Lion King, and Green Lantern counseled me equally amazing due to the 3D affect. It brought new life to a (old) Lion King movie, as well as the Harry Potter 3D movie took me back to opening trip to the IMAX theater. The 3D effect is way better than I've seen in IMAX...I suspect because of the intense Plasma screen coupled with an "active" 3D glasses set.
I will repeat the speakers is dull, because it would be on any HDTV. I'll connect a soundbar, or perhaps a 7.1 multichannel audio system with it. However, I desired to judge the 3D/Quality before finalizing the "home theater" package. A solid 7.1 multichannel audio system would be the "cherry for the cake".
I can easily see this technology being the last step in "I'll hold back until the move equates on 3D blu ray and watch it at home". Regal Cinema has met its match. The cinema display size and quality now compare as well as the popcorn cost less in your house.
I did compare the 55/60/65 inch options. Go Google "HDTV viewing distance" to determine how big TV you ought to be considering on your specific room. Then, see the price difference. 60" was within my cover the project and in the conclusion, I'm happy using the TV size, viewing distance, along with the TV's overall look on my small entertainment room's wall (which my make a difference towards the wives around compared to the husbands). You'll should do some measurements, estimate the viewing distance, and check your wallet for your particular situation. "Big" isn't just better to get a smaller viewing distance, but I wouldn't go unnecessarily small and diminish the 3D effect. If you're struggling to avoid wasting $300 over a $3000 project, I'd wait A few months and recheck each of the prices.
Finally, the sole reason I opted to buy the tv screen at Best to buy was as a result of my impatience. However, don't be afraid of getting a large item from Amazon (I bought a Sony HDTV from their store not too long ago). They have streamlined the method, though the "curbside" delivery takes several days, and honestly, my "weekend project" didn't care to wait. (I was impressed you can select an after work 4pm to 6pm delivery window online during ordering). Otherwise, it can save you some cash (as we all know) in a very trusted/reliable Amazon product delivery process. Read the agreement though. If Amazon notifys you to inspect the "shock indicators" about the box and document if your TV has become subjected to shock, then take action. If your TV fails due to mishandling, everyone knows Amazon could make it right.
That's my $0.25 input to YOUR shopping research. Good luck in your 3D TV quest.
Great TV!!
Fixed the Buzz
I LOVE THIS TV
Right out of the box I was while using the Cinema mode to watch movies along with HD cable. The shades was vibrant and real life. After watching that way for around weekly, I tested several forums and located someone that did a calibration on a single model. I will post his setting towards the end of my review. Once I changed it to people settings the picture quality became even better. I haven't tried 3D or any of the internet because I don't require them. Blu-ray movies are absolutely stunning. With this cost I am this TV is the Best Bang for the buck.
I have this TV in a very large room therefore i don't hear any of the buzzing that have been talked about in other reviews. I'm also utilizing a home theater system rather than the speakers that accompany the within the television. There exists are most likely near 8 windows with this room along with the TV seems bright enough to still display great display quality in the daytime. During the night it become phenomenal. Well there's my opinion about the TV listed here are the setting that I found in the forums.

65" Looks great inside my lounge. Delighted with this TV!!!
I bought this TV because I needed a greater tv inside my lounge. Currently We have an 46" LED full array/w/ localized dimming LED Sony TV within my bedroom and she or he is my priced possession, it is a very costly tv with the absolutely AMAZINGLY PERFECT display quality. No one is able I really could afford a LED tv like the sony in a 65" size format and that is why I decided to check into panasonic plasmas(the most effective available).
While the panasonic plasma doesn't provide you with the same image quality, still does deliver and excellent image quality for this kind of large tv with a very affordable price, It makes excellent blacks and extremely rich deep colors. The speakers may also be considerably more powerful than my Sony tv, but nevertheless recommend you recruit a full surround system by it. Here's my complain about picture; it does produce Excellent Blacks, the challenge with those blacks? well the tv screen can't maintain them in the event the room has light, just about any light. Don't misunderstand me you continue to get a great viewing experience, but no t nearly just like should you have had a pitch dark room. Normally the one other thing could be that the TV could be a little brighter, Panasonic presets the tv at medium brightness and now I can tell why. Once you place it full, you are doing obtain the perfect amount of brightness, however it destroys the color balance. I attempted messing around with the settings, but also in the conclusion I returned it medium, I merely could neutralize along with situation.
Be conscious in TV's this dimension is when 1080p material is needed. You will be able to see the main difference between 720 and 1080 content. The situation? Each of the cable and satellite companies stream at 720p, so yeah that will get frustrating. Specially after you rent a blue ray dvd movie and see what the TV is actually effective at. However i guess its one of many conditions that you must cope with when purchasing a large TV, other the retail price :-)
The software in TV is actually comparatively solid, it responds quickly to my commands. I actually do have one downside to Viera internet TV, for whatever reason if you select viera it dims itself a little and that i can't figure out why. I attempted playing just a little with it, but quickly lost the battle. I was thinking Let me never utilize it anyway what exactly will be the part of putting things off there. However i guarantee some people make use of for netflix etc, so just be aware of it. I do think the television goes into cinema mode something like that.
Just to remember that since i have had numerous components Also i bought this remote URC WR7 Universal Handy remote control for about 7 A/V Components with 4 Favorite Channel Buttons also it would be a great addition to my home theater, now I could control absolutely everything from one remote. The remote is programmed to the tv, a motorola dvr, an Apple Tv plus a 3D blue ray head unit.
I also bought this TV stand and it looks great into it, I recommend this stand Sonax E-0062-BF Fiji 60-Inch TV Component Bench, Ravenwood Black its the perfect fit.
The TV is quite heavy, you will require someone else to assist you move it around.
All nevertheless I am delighted using this purchase, I really cancelled my summer a vacation in afford this tv and what a great decision that's. Watching movies in my house beats gonna my local movies(better display quality and way better sound) and i also avoid each of the crowds. You have the waiting part for the movie to be released on blue-ray, however i can handle that. Do not think it over, if you're looking for a large tv this is the way to look. Well unless you have another 2k spend, lol :-)
Looks TOO good
Crystal clear display in a thin body
Feature packed so long as you connect it for your Internet connection and home LAN you could be entertained all day without ever watching a single TV channel.
Amazon scheduled delivery was awesome, they arrived by the due date and provided a lot of warning. I said excitedly to depart it inside the box when i needed to setting off to work however the delivery guys were friendly and punctual. Once i got home setting up the stand would have been a amount of fiascos without any help but was greater than possible to accomplish and do quickly.
It is a pleasure to see it powering up, it's fantastic regardless if it is turned off but when it comes down on... wow, superior.
I did need to purchase a Kinect TV Mount Clip for my Kinect since the TV is amazingly thin but perhaps the Kinect clip works perfectly with all the TV, no picture obstruction or instability although border across the screen is pretty slim. Great TV and i'm more than happy with my purchase, it blows the Bravia away.
Great screen, appaling tech support - Updated
- Updated 12/2/2012
I experienced the replacement TV for a couple of weeks now and I still can't believe how awesome the picture is. I have opted to advance on from my anger at tech support and rate the tv screen depending on it's own merits, so my rating now reflects that. If you happen to were curious the Xbox works fine using the new TV.
awsome tv.
Perfect
Although buying it was a headache my first set gave burn in problems i returned to amazon
Second one was amazon warehouse used tv it ran only for Couple of hours and 7 blinks of death.
This is my third place it does perfect and hopefully will ;-D
In my suggestion donot buy old or refurbished the older batches are faulty almost.
Also buy 4 year warranty square trade one you won't regret doing that induce each small problem costs 70-80 bucks and paying 120-130 for 4 years is worth it totally.
And yes it will continous 4-8 hour gaming without single flaw and does it as being a pro ps3 and pc(Quad core one)
5 ***** stars for amazon i will never buy any expensive electronic from anywhere else these are so reliable.
Why not give this television a Upscale rating!
This is the better television I've ever owned.
Brilliant colours and deep blacks.
I thought 55" can be too big...at all like me sitting about 9 feet away from it, however it is not.
I bought a blu-ray player at the same time...unbelievable how great blu-ray films view in 1080p!
mr.
Great sound in addition to picture
We used this TV daily approximately ninety days now; it was very successful as is also. Very configurable and to create. Using its wifi, it's got tamed the cord jungle in our lounge. We're certain that we hit Panasonic's "sweet spot" intended for price and features. FWIW, this isn't an Amazon validated purchase because my husband comes with a aversion to creating major purchase online. We bought it at Best to buy in June 2012.
Awesome!
