Couldn't be happier
I pointed out that all the hours I spent reading super detailed reviews was somewhat a total waste of time because as it pertains to the crunch, I do not really care about or perhaps spot the subtle differences that so many people compare. I recently wanted a solid tv with great picture cheaply this also was it.
The setup was beyond easy. The remote and on-screen menus are very user-friendly.
The widgets all work okay. Watching youtube videos on a 55in may be entertaining.
My roommate i are traveling surfers and licensed skydivers therefore we have sufficient GoPro HD videos that people watch for this tv using the Sdcard slot(we also watch them over the youtube widget)and they look phenomenal.
BOTTOM LINE: If you prefer a solid hd with great picture on the right price next the could it be. Strongly suggest. In case you have any queries then just leave a comment.
Fluctuating Brightness Can Break Your Movie Watching Experience...or not!
Immediately after turning the st30 on & popping in Planet Earth on Blu Ray for any test run I became extremely very pleased with both new height and width of screen in front of me & the truly great display quality. I played around some more, tweaking the picture & features on my own new set & decided to start watching several of my select Blu Rays that don't have letterboxing. I read somewhere that it is advisable to watch free movies that take up the whole screen to the first 100 hours possibly even of an new plasma. I'm no tech head therefore i just do what I'm told. :p
Not long into watching "Starship Troopers" I noticed my first flicker, or fluctuation. Every time the film created a cut there were an adjustment in brightness that came one half second later. I began rewinding it over & over & couldn't believe my eyes. After the awful flickering in the beginning I continued to look at & noticed it happening throughout, though not as bad because the start of film. I've watched several movies ever since then, for example - Las vegas (noticeable but not terrible), LotR Fellowship from the Ring (noticeable and not terrible), & OH MY GOD Final Fantasy: Advent Children. Final Fantasy only agreed to be unwatchable with flickering all around us. For those who have no idea, Final Fantasy is entirely super-hero which could have connected with it being so noticeable. I would expect the Pixar films to behave equally poorly however i can't say for sure.
I started researching & found that the fluctuating brightness (or "FBr") just isn't an unusual phenomenon. Just google "panasonic fluctuating brightness" & have a look at it. The forum "high def junkies" is an excellent starting point because they are already discussing it comprehensive for quite a while.
I haven't lost all hope yet! There continues to be talk of Panasonic broadcasting a firmware upgrade on their Spanish customers on a case-by-case basis that basically FIXES this issue! Or at the very least adjusts it therefore the fluctuation isn't visible on the human eye. I'm keeping my fingers crossed until this firmware causes it to be stateside so I can begin enjoying my tv. If you do I will definitely change my rating of 1 to your 5 star. I'll be keeping my eye on that 30-day return date at the same time, however.

After emailing Panasonic & starting an incident using them I waited patiently to have an email or even a telephone call, but after having a month none came. I kept up with all the community on high def junkies & eventually discovered that Panasonic had started sending local repair guys out with a brand new A-Board, or if you are one of several lucky few a much simpler fix was available if the Panasonic employee could visit your property. I called Panasonic to view exactly what the status on my small case was, only to find out they had closed my case without any form of notification. Jerks. The person I spoke with for the phone was apologetic & knew exactly what I had been referring to after i raised fluctuating brightness. I was FINALLY getting somewhere. Within per week of that telephone call they sent the replacement A-Board to my local mechanic & I had an "FBr" free tv!
For those curious, they did have to use apart my tv. After watching that terrifying ordeal it had been only a simple unplug-this plug-in-that & these folks were done. VERY happy overall.
After the fix this really is easily a 5-star tv in my book. I'm a little conflicted on showering it with nothing but praise, however. I didn't exactly buy this tv day-1 of it's release & it took them this long to even acknowledge there were an awful defect in the large numbers of their sets.
For those few who complain about picture quality I will agree that right out from the box the picture quality really doesn't jump out at you, but after purchasing a calibration disc & tweaking the custom settings it genuinely looks amazing. Easily the most effective in their budget range.
In short - in case you are on the fence relating to this set, avoid being. If you're unlucky & acquire one that's built before that they had this fix installed, Panasonic will handle it!
Beats every TV out there to the price. Blows away LED/LCD!
Regardless I broke down and bought things i felt was a bargain, a 60" Sharp Aquos Quattron 60LE832U from BJ's for $1,799. It was thin, had wireless connectivity built-in, 60", and cheap for you got. The picture was good but I soon noticed plenty of artifacts inside the picture. The color in the factory was overly bright and oversaturated. I am usually one that likes a rather less realistic picture for slightly more saturated and vivid images too but this became outrageous. No challenege show up I can not have the display quality right and there were definitely motion issues despite the claimed 240Hz aquamotion. Turns out it is not truly 240Hz and yes it is suffering from exactly the same motion conditions all LCD's are plagued with. Frustrated I looked over for the plasma side but was apprehensive because within the store plasmas always look horrible. Their pictures are dull and over-brightened to in which the blacks look gray plus they are always close to shiny LED/LCD's that seem to be so excellent. I had enough in my account to get a second TV thankfully to view what it appeared to be near the Sharp and figured I would gain back the one which looked worse. In this case I became losing 5" in picture and was worried how the ambient light in my family area would drown out the plasma picture simply because this had been an issue with plasma.
The second I connected this TV I became blown away! The color balance out from the box was breathtaking and also the blacks were spot on. There was a golf tournament on and that i felt like I had been there looking by having a window. The Sharp had good resolution however it felt fake since the picture am bright (even when rejected) and the motion unrealistic. I immediately packed inside the Sharp and took it back. I am hinting if you're thinking about LED/LCD avoid them, plasma is how it's at and you cannot beat the picture on this TV for the price, it really is unbelievable!!! LED/LCD just was not perfected enough which is the reason there are so many differing types including edge-lit, full array, etc.
I do need to mention for those of you thinking of getting this TV that I highly recommend you break it set for the 1st 100 hours by not displaying any static images including logos or game HUD's. I also recommend running the slides that may be found here:[...] for your first 100 hours of the TV to age the phosphors in the TV evenly. The best way to do this is always to put these slides while on an Sdcard and run them through media player making sure to own the slideshow on loop mode and continuously. This allows each pixel to age in the exact same rate to ensure following your 100 hours each pixel has the same color saturation. Early on phosphors are soft and obtain hotter than normal, making them more susceptible burning in and image retention but while they age they harden as well as their colors be normalized. After now burn in is a reduced amount of a problem and your TV will calibrate much better as each pixel includes a normalized color towards the one alongside it. Now on to the actual review:
Pros:
1) Display quality - Absolutely stunning, the picture can be as realistic because it includes good saturation as well as the brightness is perfect. I have put this TV beside everything available are the GT30 and VT30 and there's absolutely no distinctive from what my eyes can easily see. All you obtain is THX mode and 1 HDMI and USB port alternatively models and anybody who lets you know the PQ is best on those is just being overly critical and properly a whole calibration nut because I merely can't see it nor can most people.
2) Black levels - Any deeper of a black also it would look fake, even if the brightness is appeared they stay completely black, it isn't not really a stupid joggling act enjoy it is with LED/LCD in which you ought to tradeoff black levels for other things like brightness.
3) Internet apps/connectivity/networking - Includes a wireless dongle to allow for connection to your network in fact it is considerably more useful than I figured. DLNA works 1000x much better than the Sharp that was clunky, slow, and didn't play all media types. The ST30 even previews your videos on the network as you are scrolling through them, it is just a very cool feature and is very responsive. 4) Price - When i previously mentioned you can't beat this PQ for that price. $1499 essentially places and it can even be found a tad cheaper. The Vizio 4SV 55" model is practically $2000 which is large, ugly, and possesses a myriad of problems for instance randomly turning off. This is really a documented problem that you could look for and Vizio is apprehensive to correct it for any person.
5) 3D - I'll admit I wasn't really big on this and the Sharp I purchased didn't even have it because I possibly could care less over it but that one did (and was cheaper, go figure). I am really glad now that it does contain it because 3D is simply breathtaking and there is little to no crosstalk in any respect! All another makers (except maybe Sony) a large amount of crosstalk, especially Samsung. The Sony I viewed had great 3D however it was also running on the demo within the store hooked with a bluray that is a bit deceiving in comparison with watching it on DirecTV something like that. Also remember that Vizio TV's are certainly not listed (right now) as being a supported 3DTV with DirecTV!
Cons:
1) Only con I'm able to consider would be that the 60" model is nearly $600 more, which is a bit ridiculous. I was hoping it had been a lot more like $300 more as I probably would have jumped on it if so.
2) Hardly anything else, this TV absolutely rocks!
Bottom line:
If happen to be on a fence that TV to have otherwise you are debating plasma vs. LED/LCD please take this review seriously and try the plasma, I'm almost planning to guarantee that just for this price that you are planning to enjoy it more. The new Samsung 55" LED/LCD is $2650, even if this amazing 2011 plasma is $1499, you don't need to spend $1200 more!
This can be as good because it gets!
After doing research for months, I found themselves purchasing the 65ST30 from Amazon for $2050 recently. I'm a very first time Plasma buyer, so researched QUITE a bit into this technology. I used to be surprised the length of time Plasmas came along. I did previously think they just don't possess a longevity, or are an outdated technology. I couldn't have been more wrong. I additionally looked at the GT and also the VT series, but VT was unthinkable on account of ridiculous pricing, as well as the display quality of GT didn't look different than ST30 in the local best-buy. GT has an inferior bezel though, which is more inviting looking.
Also, after reading several reviews and talking to people on AVS forum - I realised GT has bigger issues with floating blacks and brightness fluctuations, so decision was rather easy. ST30 was usually the one to have.
CALIBRATION:
After I managed to get the set, I made use of the D-Nice's settings/slides to prep the set for his calibration (available on the web). You won't need to make this happen, even using his calibrated settings looked very good along with - however i experienced his recommended process, for the greatest possible image. If you possess patience, I'll recommend using his entire process. It's worth every penny.
PICTURE QUALITY:
After inputting the settings provided by D-Nice (plus some of my tweaks) the picture quality was simply breathtaking. I was just amazed how natural the picture looked. I was told here is the biggest advantage of going Plasma over LED, at first I wasn't positive that I'll see much difference - however I'm sold.
I purchased a 2011 LG LED TV just several months ago, this also Plasma is much better. I compared them alongside the other, and it's not close. Not just you receive true natural colors with Plasma, you receive very deep blacks with no motion blur. Can't wait to watch some football for this beautiful set. I was somewhat concerned with floating blacks - but no difficulty with this set. Watched several Blu-Ray movies about it - and was blown away by the size it and also the fine picture. It speakers aren't great, but aren't bad either. I prefer to get a sound-bar at some point though.
FEATURES:
a) 3D - That's not me a major fan of 3D (not a minimum of) but 3D is fairly damn good for this tv. Superior to another set I've come across. But, 3D image has always given me a head-ache, therefore i don't use 3D.
b) Online services - Basic applications are there, such as Netflix, Amazon videos, Youtube. User-Interface really is easy to use and is also intuitive. I mostly begin using these services with the Blu-Ray player anyway. You'll be able to play videos or view pictures through SD slot or USB drive or DNLA server (connecting for your PC through wireless).
c) Viera Connect - I really like this feature. Once i bought this TV, Furthermore, i got a new Panasonic Blu-Ray player sufficient reason for Viera Connect, you can easily sync the device along with your TV and use it remote to manage the player. Simple idea that makes lots of sense.
d) Remote device - I've not said this in a while, but I love the handy remote control that accompany this TV. Additionally it is back-lit, that's helpful during the night. Again, quite easy and intuitive.
CONS:
I haven't yet find anything wrong using this type of set. But, I must say - no TV is perfect. LEDs have their issues and Plasmas have their issues. I was mindful of basic difficulty with Plasma's - so nothing caught me off-guard. I'll advise everyone to look into these complaints beforehand, or ask me when you have questions. These are generally small issues to manage, nothing major but one should be aware them.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
Another thing I'll advise everyone enthusiastic about buying a Plasma - don't pass the product in question your local store. If you have to compare at the shop, compare Plasma TV with Plasma television - steer clear LEDs. Plasma TVs should be set-up in accordance with a room and lighting. Otherwise set correctly, Plasmas will likely look pale and dull. To have the picture to pop-out and appear accurate at the same time (something LEDs have trouble with), you really need to mess with the settings. As i've already explained, google for D-Nice's settings - he's an expert calibrator who has shared his settings. Obviously, you have still got to tweak your settings - but it gives you a fantastic kick off point. Also head over to AVS forum and you'll discover more setting options and figure out what works best for you.
I've had this TV for any month, and so far, many experts have one of the better TVs I've ever purchased. Ever since then, I've purchased a 50ST30 too for my bed-room and am just like happy with that set. Whenever you aspect in the cost (for 65ST30 or 50ST30), I doubt you can find a much better deal around. I looked at the Samsung Plasmas (which can be skinnier) and look great also. Ultimately, Panasonic is often a more renowned brand in terms of Plasmas and a measure or two ahead with regards to black levels and over-all quality. Also, Samsung has inadequate customer support - which made a decision for me.

Great TV, 1 problem that undoes everything. - *****Update problem solved*****
1) I enjoy Panasonic products. I've had their phones/shavers/Digital Cameras/and now a Blu-ray player and I love them.
2) I even absolutely love the PQ on this TV too (barring fluctuating brightness obviously).
3) I'm creating a 1-star rating with a heavy heart however with a company observant mind.

The deal breaker??? - Fluctuating brightness!!!
I read rave reviews just for this TV here/other places and I agree with them PQ-wise. However, if in support of IF your set has this and you've noticed this you're done. I am hoping it's not the situation together with you yet it's the situation beside me and few others. Unclear the amount of "few" people it takes to obtain the attention of your major manufacturer but here's my viewing experience to date. I've had this TV for 3.5 weeks now.
This TV tries to adjust its brightness A LOT. Most time a scene changes between a dark scene to your (much) lighter scene/area - you will see the changing brightness - especially about the face, it'll go wayyyy brighter, then back to normal. Eventually the light will probably be perfect/even great hue however the "switching" drives me nuts. While dark scenes themselves look great overall - I additionally noticed some dark/darkness adjustment even per night scene where the light inside the scene/room was off. It happens much less often but it does. The adjustment in dark scenes usually are not that distracting as is also less frequent/apparent. Daylight/bright scenes - another story.
I even tried to "ignore" this by telling myself - oh well no TV is ideal and ok, i'll just "live" from it but I just couldn't. Besides - for a $2K TV to accomplish what my $250 seven year-old Sharp (CRT) TV does NOT do is simply unacceptable.
I have tried Blue ray/SD content/HD contect/netflix/regular DVDs plus they all display fluctuating brightness. I grant it is not there Constantly but boy when it rears its ugly head (which are often) - that's ALL I watch and well that's ALL I'm watching at this time - not willingly I must add. I've gotten the most recent firmware too.
So why simply a 1-star once the PQ/blacks are great. The brightness problem is so glaring who's handily undoes the various good/great/outstanding qualities of this TV. Speaking of outstanding - an execllent thing concerning the TV is skin color - oh so natural. After i was TV hunting/doing "eye test" in stores - LED always appeared to have an edge. But man - this colors/skin tones are so realistic with this TV. I do not wish to get rid of the great PQ with this TV - in every fairness, yet simultaneously I wouldn't need to take away the undeniably distracting viewing this TV presents in my experience. Actually I feel like I am relegated to "watching" the fluctuating brightness as opposed to actually experiencing and enjoying the connection with this otherwise great TV. I even tried telling myself - maybe I'm "looking" because of this brightness fluctuation issue but no no no - it's THERE.
I'm baffled to clarify why Panasonic did not/does not notice this - which is - whenever they don't. They should fix it and fix it now. I really believe Panasonic can and may ensure it is right. I still maintain it's actually a great TV. I don't determine if others experienced the same issue in order to this degree but this has been my experience. I not really know the technical details but they *should* be capable of fix this having a firmware fix. I have NOT given up on them and hence have requested Amazon for one more ST30. This is a great TV otherwise nevertheless, you get a TV to take pleasure from the programming content, NOT distractions. Panasonic - you're top plasma maker on the market. You guys have even the entire (former) Pioneer/Kuro team working for you. Are you going to please make it right!!!

I know I am aware - LONG overdue update.
Ok first of all - it IS a upscale TV ... and then some.
For this price - this picture - be done with it. I realize D7000 is nice too but a tad more expensive.
I needed to move through 3 TVs before they worked out the A-board replacement. And boy should it fix the problem. I deliberately delayed my update a 'bit' 'cos Some desire to just accept it 'cos others were saying it. I truly attemptedto 'find' the fluctuating brightness issue as soon as the A-board replacement but I'm thrilled to say I simply cannot find it. This TV greater than rocks. The are likely lower now... so what're you looking forward to? .. then again they've got ST50 out now *wink wink*
Someone asked earlier why numerous ppl are giving 5 stars to this particular TV when other medication is (were) reporting fbr issues. Well - some people had older versions where problem was prevalent. The brand new TVs post-august 2011 I think shouldn't have this problem but for the older ones the A-board replacement fixes the issue. Read my first review above - aside from the fbr - the television had NO fault whatsoever. I am unable to reply to others' TVs but my issue went away immediately after the A-board fix. I'm happy that Panasonic acknowledged and then fixed the problem using product.
I can't thank Amazon enough. They are 100% supportive in the Twice I'd to exchange it. Am glad everything solved well ultimately. I'm thrilled to say I don't regret buying this TV one bit .. even after each of the trouble of replacing and waiting. I'd do it all once more inside a heartbeat. Why? Get up than ends well :-) It'll for you too.... buy it and thank me later .... After all thank Panasonic later.
Plasma >>> LCD, No Question. Best Image I have seen.
After doing some research, I began to know why there is still a niche for plasma: it can be desired by those that really care about their TV technology. The belief that prices for your systems were now under comparable LCD televisions only agreed to be an additional benefit. After the decision to travel plasma appeared, I needed to then pick a set. Since I wanted to take advantage of Amazon's 24 month no interest financing offer, I needed to choose between the LG along with the Panasonic. That choice was obviously a little easier: reading literally every single review for both TVs on Amazon, and also countless Alternative party professional reviews, I selected the Panasonic. The and reputation of quality, in addition to customer satisfaction, had me sold.
I experienced the set for about 4 weeks now, and can give you my experience thus far.
SHIPPING: I used the super-saver shipping, which used the Home Direct USA company to ship from Amazon to a company, then someone's place of business to my home. Despite finding some negative reviews with Home Direct, I can tell you that I made two telephone calls for many years to ensure location and timing (their tracking site doesn't update regularly, it only tells you whenever they picked it up from amazon then when it's brought to the neighborhood company) which both times they were extremely courteous and helpful. The television arrive at the area carrier exactly when it absolutely was likely to. A nearby carrier first set every day for delivery that was One day after the Amazon "delivered by" date, but that wasn't a legitimate big problem. They did, however attempt to call yesterday delivery to achieve the date pushed back further as a consequence of driver issues; I insisted on keeping my original date (as I had already requested the time-off from work) plus they could actually accommodate. The delivery men were professional and courteous, and my only minor gripe about them is that one too attempted to get me to sign the "I received the package free of damage" form before going ahead and opening it to test for damage. I politely refused to sign it until we succeeded, and it would be a non-issue. There was no problems for the set from transport.
BREAK-IN PERIOD: I had created planned on running the break-in slides and doing the complete dnice process (see highdefjunkies for more info), however the room I was placing this TV in had exactly 27 hours before my daughter's sleepover party will be held in that room, and i also knew that 7 pre-teen girls would not take kindly to at least one) no TV or 2) watching color slides as entertainment. Therefore, I reserve my plans for the 100-150 hour break-in and began researching its necessity. I ran across there are just like lots of people who feel this really is totally unnecessary as there are who feel it is absolutely necessary; however the argument against it really is that, basically, when the manufacturer was whatsoever concerned about quality reputation, and felt this became needed, they would include it inside manual. Because it is not included, it's likely not required. If you want to get it done, and have the luxury of using this method, do it. Honestly had I not needed the set inside a short timeframe, I'd likely have tried it myself simply to say I did it. UNDERSTAND that the break-in just isn't linked with image retention (on that later); it is just designed to evenly age the phosphors to ensure when calibration is conducted at a later date, the calibrator can be assured they are working off of the same baseline. I did keep your brightness and contrast down i zoomed in when watching anything with bars for that first couple of hours people (maybe 20). I've since turned the brightness and contrast up and also have watched LOTR: Fellowship plus a hardly any other movies.
CALIBRATION SETTINGS: In order to set the television to settings I liked, I began with dnice's post-break-in calibration settings. Purists will truly state that this is blasphemy and i should be stripped of my tv set immediately and instructed to an amish internment camp. No, no, slow. I would not, won't, are convinced that those calibration settings, without the break-in period, will offer me absolutely the very best image possible since I didn't follow his procedure. He's an experienced calibrator, and i also discover why he disclaims to do the other settings first, while he does not want someone using his settings w/o carrying it out then claiming he's wrong. I simply wanted to use his like a kick off point. As i obtain it set, and watched for the tiny bit, I started tweaking in some places. Sometimes I prefer warm1 over warm2. I've turned the contrast and brightness up just a little bit. And any other signs. It just depends. Remember something which is stated by many on those forums: what many of us are utilized to watching is over-saturated, over-brightened images which are not in keeping with real-life. The calibration settings get as close to real-life as it can be; if you want your image over-saturated, more vibrant, etc., then you'll definitely must tweak it yourself. YMMV.
PICTURE QUALITY: Wow. I mean... wow. Again, originating from LCD, Some know clarity existed on this level. If you ask me, going from a mid-range LCD TV with a high quality plasma was like re-discovering HDTV. I don't know I can really quantify the ability, to be quite honest. I not really know I could write too much on PQ since it is simply tough to describe. The look is crisp and sharp with a level previously unseen by me, also it looks... natural. Once I've seen it, I feel like LCD images are having to overcompensate to get near this amount of clarity. It would be as though all you have ever had is artificial sweetener, then tasted real sugar for the first time in your lifetime. It is simply... authentic.
- Glare: A lot of people are concerned about glare from plasma. This TV glares no more than new LCDs do. Don't let that hold you back.
- Viewing Angle: My viewing room is fairly square, so the viewers will never be over probably 25-30 degrees right or left with the core of the TV; however, in order to test, I've stood 75-80 degrees aside, along with the image quality will not drop off in the slightest. Additionally, there is absolutely no difference vertically - a huge problem I had created with past LCDs. Whether or not the TV is slightly above, below, or directly before your viewing angle can make no impact on your perceived image quality.
SOUND QUALITY: I've the television connected to a receiver w/ 6.1 multichannel surround sound, but I did briefly test the speakers for the TV prior to connecting it on the sound system. Easily were using the TV for casual television viewing, the built-in speakers would be plenty adequate. I am unable to go in more detail because I only listened long enough to consider a "thumbs up/down" measurement, and decided thumbs up according to about 30-60 seconds of listening.
IMAGE RETENTION: Ok, meat and potatoes time. Does it have problems with image retention? Again, I've only been with them about 3-4 weeks, and in all probability only about 40-50 hours people so far. I will tell you the first day I'd it, We used the heck from it, primarily with my PS3 (for watching blu-rays, .mp4/.avi movies, and playing some games). There were once or twice once i walked from the TV using the PS3's primary menu up (the XMB), i stood a picture of the kids on the background. That night, after i powered down it as well as the room was totally dark, I possibly could *faintly* visit a residual picture of my kids' outlines for the TV. I went downstairs for about Thirty minutes, delivered up, plus it was gone. It absolutely was never noticeable if you watch or playing anything. But More than likely that it's beautiful because anything else looks great about this titanic screen.
My son has seen it which is bugging me about receiving the 3D glasses to ensure that the guy can find out how avatar looks in 3D so perhaps you will see an addition to the long review out soon. Kudos to Panasonic.. I love it!
5/29/11-I forgot to cover the main one BIG negative i have with this particular set,that is the speaker system from the tv,they SUCK!They sound like something you'd get in say a 19"television,thin and tiny...its kinda weird that my 50"speakers apparently sound a lot better than these but i estimate that the thinking is to use a screen this big,you will end up utilizing an external surround system anyway, while i do,so there's that.What's more, it features a very well-lit,if the light button is pressed,handy remote control.There are several more things this set are capable of doing,you will need to obtain one and enjoy it to evaluate them out,

Great TV with excellent picture (Fixed Fluctuating Brightness)
I have owned this TC-P50ST30 for any approximately Two months now. There are two solutions for fixing the fluctuating brightness: #1. A Panasonic representative will come to your property and install a software fix (it is a flash for the core software about the TV) using an Sdcard. #2. Panasonic can send an authorized service center to change the A-board in the TV with a brand new the one which already contains the updated/fixed software. It are at Panasonic's discretion (mostly dependent to availability of Panasonic field reps). In my case I got the application fix, but I know a great many others who have had the A board replacement and possess seen a similar results while i have.

For 3D, I use the same settings above, but increase Contrast to 100, and sharpness to 50.
I gathered these settings with all the Disney WOW blu-ray optimizer. Should you haven't been aware of that disc, I strongly suggest you research it and think of purchasing it given it is sold with some great tips/explanations, a pixel flipper (I'll discuss that in the second), and also a visual reference disc which includes videos of some good scenery.
Issues:

Small update: after working month or so trying cool features I've got to unfortunately point out that the built-in Netflix performance is somewhat inconsistent. I have already been having random issues with sound (skipping/crackling) at random times by it, no matter what I've tried the issues didn't disappear. The firmware on television may be the latest available. The separate device (Roku player) that i have plays Netflix movies flawlessly using exact same wired net connection. Not a big problem in my opinion (I have Roku player for all those my Netflix needs), just a warning to people who buy this TV and prefer to utilize the built-in Netflix player.

Wow - Am I happy!
The set is basic black in style, heavier literally and visually compared to led. However, I'm putting the tv screen in it's spot and there it stays. It's worth every penny. The performance is excellent. I'm so glad Panasonic still provides a great 46in 1080p plasma. SD is pretty good and HD is wonderful and immersive. Although picture is really clear, it's a bit less dynamic,as opposed to LED but a lot more nuanced.
Adjustments are easy, the remote is easy albeit not really a top quality device though not chintzy, it does the secret to success easily. I enjoy the Viera Link. The interface can be slow, yet it's simple and uncluttered. I must say the quality of the streaming is excellent, with high of things i watch being SD, the tv displays it really well.
Glare: - My room provides extensive windows, there's glare. The television swivels and i also can turn it away from the windows and the great picture quality stays intact . That LED only looked good from straight on as well as the screen's matte finish hazes over through the window light, then your picture pale when viewed at an angle. I'm actually better able to overcome the issue using the Panasonic. I range from duration of the tube. All sets were stationary with reflective glass. Glare was obviously a area of the experience. Image Retention: I want on fourteen days since purchase and have noticed no negative effects. To the first week I followed burn in procedures (low contrast, low sharp, no static images) even though I still use their anti-image retention tools, I've since started activating the juice for movies/games. I would recommend using burn in settings for regular TV viewing and better settings with blu rays. Also, limit gaming sessions with static HUD/displays for that first couple of weeks after TV purchase...better safe than sorry.
VieraLink: I paired the TV which has a PS3 and Onkyo HT-3400 receiver and it works flawlessly - the tv screen turns the receiver and PS3 on/off in sync with all the TV. It won't power on all connected peripherals whenever, merely the one coupled to the current input. For example, if my input was set to antenna if the TV was deterred, it's going to only switch on the receiver. When input is switched to PS3, it's going to turn both receiver the PS3 on (and off after an idle period). The Viera remote actually controls basic menu functions within the PS3, so from power on to playing a blu ray I could get away with 1 remote. Great feature IMHO (requires HDMI connections between equipment along with compatibility).
3D: Awesome. I didn't much worry about 3D when I put down, however i contain it, hardly anything else can do. Getting the correct picture settings is a must! I saw several 3D movies in theaters after which watched them about this TV - the quality is exactly the same. If anything 3D is more enjoyable around the TV (ignoring being at home in jammies), since with the 50" size characters often look life size. During one late night movie session I nearly needed to pay attention to intruders; a personality from the movie walked in "front" with the the screen i thought someone was at the area. Thus far every 3D movie I have watched looks perfect. The TV also upscales nearly any source (haven't bothered trying with 480 content) into 3D, so re-watching a few of your selected movies will bring a new dimension to the table, literally. 3D makes up your eyes hurt: Yours maybe, but I haven't noticed any problems. I have had extended gaming sessions of 5/6 hours rather than noticed an issue. I might, however, not recommend it while nursing a hangover.
Gaming: I've got a PS3 Slim connected through HDMI, although I have not been a massive console fan, this TV might help change my thoughts. Graphics look good and games operate correctly. As for 3D games, WOW. Do research though, like any new technology the rush to function out content has resulted in some very sub-par products. The good games however, are AMAZING. Killzone, Crysis2, etc. in 3D are merely startling. Sets from the gun's sights having depth with a rocket appearing out of the length and flying past your face create a surreal gaming experience. As a lifelong FPS fan playing a casino game such as this in 3D makes a great deal sense. Several other games like GT5 look great plus are very effective in 3D.
Content: There is not a plethora of 3D available yet, but there is enough there for to get on board. Movies all look great, and between what's out already and what is going to be out by the end of the season you will see plenty of options. Cable providers are simply beginning carry 3D programming; We have basic cable with no box, but this TV has were able to pickup searching for 3D channel from my provider (unsure should they be intentionally providing it, but I'm not gonna complain) For games, you have to be careful - poorly designed games have horrible image conditions that can have a negative impact.
All things considered, I am thoroughly pleased with my purchase, along with Amazon, and would recommend both to the people searching for the very best in 3D TVs in this budget range. If you don't care about 3D, this TV still boasts specs superior to nearly any comparable non 3D panel, and may let you try the technology out at a later date.

Cons: The ARC (audio return channel) appears to strip my 5.1 surround signal. I originally plugged my PS3 into the TV via HDMI, then picked the audio on the receiver via the ARC. Compatibility for use with a PC: while i was doing my research I possibly could not have any clear info from Panasonic as to if it will work effectively going from HDMI on my small graphics card to HDMI for the ST30. Some wish to use the VGA port about the TV and thereby be limited to an analog signal. I can report that HDMI to HDMI works perfectly fine in my case. I will be utilizing an 'Abacus' 6 foot cable purchased from Amazon that i can confirm will support proper 3D and Blu Ray playback. Also, they're cheap--under $10. Screen uniformity around the plasma is more preferable than that seen around the DT30 LED, that has been an excellent set, but did involve some minor back light bleed. This is apparently a problem inherent with LCD/LED displays, as the last 3 I have had had some extent of back light bleed. I'm able to observe the ST30 from just about any angle without lack of display quality. The black levels for this set are outstanding. In dark games like 'Dead Space' it appears truly awesome giving an extremely enhanced a sense immersion amongst gamers. I've also done lots of multi-player gaming online, such as 'Battlefield 3' beta last October. I'm able to report confidently that there won't are most often any issue with input lag.
Re image retention and burn in: The shooter game(s) I've played possess a static HUD and other content (game map, etc.) on the watch's screen. Initially I started with very short sessions in these games, and gradually increased the duration as I became certain that the set had not been being adversely effected. I now occasionally play at as up to Three hours straight using this HUD on-screen and possess seen NO image retention or burn in whatsoever. Most of these longer sessions were in sport play, contributing to every 25 minutes or so there's a map change/refresh on the server which gets rid of the HUD for maybe 90 seconds--I don't even think that is the of sufficient length break to make any difference. Initially I ran the anti image retention scrolling bar after such long sessions, such as the bother any more. So for gamers I'd personally highly recommend the ST30.
3D VS. 2D--Just a quick note here: several Panasonic techs all in all me how the picture quality in 2D mode is best around the 3D sets compared to the 2D picture on 2D sets which they manufacture. For this reason I made a decision to get a 3D set, even though it cost a bit more. When I had the DT30 LED set that's 3D I determined i was not able to see images in 3D on these sets--probably because one of my eyes has lower vision compared to other. I went 3D anyways because I needed the perfect 2D picture in games. Some desire to pay the extra $$ for that GT or VT series, but Panasonic explained how the ST picture was comparable in quality to those higher lines.
Re 'Break In' during first hours people: Panasonic tech informed me to follow along with these procedure--they declared it could assist to diminish any chance of burn in or image retention down the road. Run the ST30 in 'standard' picture mode at default settings (low contrast and brightness) for your first 100 hours. I went a pace further, and downloaded an application (it's free--use google) that runs a series of solid color screens keeping the aforementioned recommended settings as well. This seemed counter intuitive if you ask me, and i also chose to keep to the advice given by Panasonic tech support. For gamers no less than I'd advise to accomplish exactly the same, and prevent our prime contrast-brightness approach during 'break in'.
Sound--I could not consider to make use of the speakers over a unit this way. Obviously the set looks outstanding watching such media. ahead of getting this set I was gaming and watching movies with a 27 inch Hanns-G LCD monitor. This purchase is a huge HUGE enhancement of my build. BTW, avoid Hanns-G like the plague--they ripped me off when my still in warranty monitor developed problems.
In closing, my set found its way to top condition without any defects. No Fbr, no green blobs, etc. Providing that it doesn't 'die' on me unexpectedly I will be VERY happy using this purchase, and am definitely a 'plasma' convert. I managed to get mine at 'B&H photo' because back then their price was better. Price not an issue, I would highly recommend Amazon--their customer service is first rate.

Great investment
Normally I'd personally not share any reviews but having looked at the clarity with this TV, I possibly could not resist to spread the saying. Bought this TV seeing through various A/V forums and reviews. It does not take best TV to the dollar amount. Very little else comes close. Just follow-through the calibration steps mentioned by among the reviewer which TV will become your neighbors/friends envy! Though I didnrrrt value 3D capability, it turned out simply spectacular.

Successful Servicing for Fluctuating Brightness Problem
The tech noted that my unit ended up serviced previously, had the A-board replaced. Problem could be that the tech that replaced it didn't have the authorization to update towards the latest EEPROM (only official Panasonic tech can play around with that stuff), so that it was not properly fixed... completely. That's why the set got returned. This thing is brand spankin new, no scratches. I obtained an actual steal about this one.

Great TV with excellent picture (Fixed Fluctuating Brightness)
I have owned this TC-P50ST30 for any just over 8 weeks now. Bought from Amazon, it arrived quickly along with perfect condition along with the delivery driver solved the problem bring it inside and reduced the problem open it up to ensure it turned out ok prior to you signing because of it. It can be used for typical family content (movies, TV, & sports) from DirecTV HD-DVR and blu-ray playter, and has ~500hours on it.
While the final of the bezel just isn't anywhere close to elegant as my TC-P65VT30 it's a lot more than adequate, in case a bit understated. It is thin and appearance great mounted on the wall. Again, only at that price point, to get a plasma with great image quality that supports 3D... this set is a bargain, as well as the looks are simply fine. I might have preferred a metal bezel, but there's nothing that sticks out as bad with the looks of this thing.
I had not an issue adjusting this TV to get a great resulting picture. I couldn't believe how great the image quality was with this TV from day one, especially considering it came at this type of great cost. With tuned in settings the colors are deep and rich and not over saturated, the blacks and shadow detail were tremendous, along with the 3D looked amazing. My children and that i enjoyed this TV without the problems that others have hated (green "blobs", buzzing, IR/Burn-in, fluctuating brightness) to the first 450 approximately hours. Then, just as if someone flipped a switch... smack, here comes the fluctuating brightness. I began to notice it on several older movies, and considered that it turned out simply because the content was older. Because days went it on it got worse and starting presenting itself on a lot more content, including movies that we had watched before without any problems. Now it's now hard to watch a film or Television show containing virtually any quick scene vary from a dark scene with a brighter scene as a consequence of these fluctuations. Should they happened gradually it would be fine and couldn't survive noticed, or if they happened immediately with the scene change it could be fine too. As it is, once the scene changes as described above, there is a brightness shift approximately half an extra afterwards.
I've watched exactly the same content with an LCD i have during my bedroom, through the same source and don't see these fluctuations. I've also watched this same content, in the same source, on my TC-P65VT30 and never see these fluctuations. There's clearly something wrong this set, however from reading others experiences.. Panasonic is claiming until this is normal and within spec, and it is a design "feature". Really? I own a get in touch with to Panasonic now, and am waiting to listen to back. This is a shame since this TV was this kind of great deal and looked so great at first, in fact still looks great.. but it's hard to watch and revel in it with your problems.
Unfortunately if Panasonic cannot have this covered with a software update, this TV will be relegated to a gaming looking for the children to use while using Xbox. I'm not really pleased.
EDIT/UPDATE: Since posting my original review, Panasonic has come forward and really increased on the plate. Engineer's took on all reports in connection with fluctuating brightness problems, worked with calibration experts in the field, and still have designed a fix. There are two possibilities for fixing the fluctuating brightness: #1. A Panasonic representative can come to your property and put in a software fix (it is a flash to the core software about the TV) using an Files. #2. Panasonic can send a certified service center to replace the A-board of the TV with a brand new the one which already offers the updated/fixed software. It is at Panasonic's discretion (mostly dependent to accessibility to Panasonic field reps). In my case I got the software program fix, but I know numerous others who may have had the A board replacement and have seen the identical results as I have.
When the Panasonic rep found the house, we watched content to exhibit the issue, the rep then followed his procedure and flashed the firmware on TV's. After the software program upgrades we watched the same content we watched just 10 mins earlier, and the fluctuations were gone. So glad I decided the 55ST30 3D Plasma from Amazon
Plasma, IMO, is superior to LCD/LED as it had deeper blacks, better contrast and off axis viewing. On account of it's higher refresh rate, motion in sports is much more real life with less lag time than within LCD/LED. The Panny could well be the defacto standard during these areas.
I was, however, slightly disappointed that this Panny was can not stream a show using it's wireless dongle 25 feet from your router. In every fairness this may be because of limited bandwidth from my PC/router. I'd already run ethernet cable ( cheap cat5 wire ) under my house that is always a much better solution than wireless. Hard wiring the Panny, Blu-ray player and AV receiver on the router via one cat5 cable plus a $12 switcher makes for huge car stereo choices on the world wide web. Having a number of apts from every component during my method is also worthwhile.
Sound wise the Panny isn't any better or worse than other panels. But no person should have like a great picture without equally good sound. Please don't throw away cash on the sound bar or system inside a box but instead spring for any decent 5.1/7.1 receiver combined with good speakers and a sub. That's the only way to have full enjoyment of the HT experience.
Rarely would you read complaints of having a screen size too large. Usually oahu is the opposite. I've found the 55ST30 ( 55 inch )is good for viewing distances of 10 to 13 feet while a 50 inch may be too small.
The 55ST30 weighs a hefty 80 lbs so I think wall mounting could be more difficult as compared to the lighter LCDs. I bought a fantastic looking $199 stand from Sams that matches the Panny perfectly and it has room for all those components and also a center channel speaker.
Reflections from the large glossy bezel and screen happen to be mentioned as negatives but some room darkening inner curtains and spring rods from Walmart will fix that.
I purchased the 55ST30 from Amazon and shipping, delivery, and hang up up would have been a breeze. The correct way to achieve this for those who are interested is always to download the slides onto a Sdcard or USB flashdrive, and insert the charge card or Memory stick onto the TV, then click viera tools and play them like a slideset while using inbuilt viera Media player, and run them continuously for 100 hrs(i would periodically rest the plasma for 2hrs every A couple of days) using D-nice's specifications(necessities such as initial specs for breakin(a breeze), then after the break-in period, i calibrated the color settings much like D-nice recommendations, overall, i'm impressed with the vivid colors, My tv is in a properly lit room, and doesnt have noticeable glare,(it is a weak spot for most plasmas). I also obtained a Panny Bluray on amazon and am willing to have the ability to use my TV remote to manipulate the Bluray/DVD player.
I haven't tested the 3D yet, and honestly my basis for purchase could be the 2D picture. The reason why 3D tv's have better 2D pictures, is they require more powerful processors to render the D images, and these processors then are extremely useful for giving a great 2D image, this rule generally relates to most TV's, the TV's that individuals see today perform large amount of processing to provide their images and cover-up for his or her inherent screen deficiencies (lcd-poor angle and contrast, LED looks too bt=right and colors should be objective just a little, plasma-prevent burin etc).
The Audio is average and would probably need upgrading to your dedicated speaker system in the future, but this will likely do in the meantime.
I am happy while using panny plasma and would definitely recommend buying this TV on Amazon and using D-nice settings on highdef junkies forum for your TV, these steps are very an easy task to do and also have designed a good difference inside display quality before the alterations..
Very impressed, excellent TV
The TV is light, only 76lbs and also the included is made of 86lbs, as well as the included wide stand screws in and installs in less than 2mins. NOTE: I recommend immediately setting the picture settings per input and take that contrast way down through the default 100 (max) setting it's sitting at. That's showroom settings and particularly during breakin, the very last thing you need may be the contrast or picture settings maxxed. It will eat in to the lifetime of the TV and unnecessarily uses more power. From the PS3 bluray, I popped in the Disney's Whole world of Wonder calibration disc and tried my far better to set the best levels for the TV. There's really only 4-6 settings to wreak havoc on. This is what is called a consumer calibration, the easy one. The professional $300 kind involves starting the service menu, blah blah. I have no idea, unless someone can reply back to me and inform me the merits or valuation on having one of these done within the consumer level adjustments, then I'll just stay with this. The picture is very useful, much like all the others the following is saying.
The settings I run are I leave the tv screen in custom mode and I think the settings I rule are close to this:
Contrast: 60
Brightness: 55
Color: 60
Tint: unchanged
Sharpness: 60
To my eye, these look vivid however, not overly so, slight rise in sharpness but nothing crazy, and fiddled around with contrast and brightness so much within the WOW calibration disc that we just chosen these settings. The black level was set perfectly, even so the white levels for some reason cannot be adjusted enough will be able to get the ideal level that this WOW disc said I would be seeing. Only any small issue. When I recieve home again i will look for a THX pixar/disney movie and check out those THX test patterns to see if I would affect the Contrast/Brightness again.
But I watched Avatar and Predator to date and both were incredible. It's not just the picture settings and 1080p bluray which make it incredible, but this TV also automatically smooths the picture slightly (the 600hz feature I imagine) which accounts for that "real" "looking through a window" effect that a lot of people like. LCD's do similar things using their 120/240hz feature. Too point about this feature, and the ones call that "soap opera" effect meaning they don't like it too smooth. Personally, in my experience, we get expensive speakers to ensure we could be "there" as well once we can to the live recording. We get expensive TV's, so that we can be "there" too I'd imagine. I hardly understand people who love to always have their movies be 24/30 frames per second and never want that changed. In my opinion, that is not realistic, it keeps you aware that you're just watching a show. You go outside so you hope the eyes were running at 24/30 FPS? What I'm saying is the fact that, in video and audio, we are after realism, likelife realism and a smoother picture gets you a whole lot of closer.
So that's the most dramatic thing about this set, the black levels are dark, very dark and that's why I turned up the vividness merely a tad by enhancing the "Color" setting to 60 instead of 50. I wanted it a tad more vivid. Slightly increased Brightness and Contrast too, but nothing close to VIVID mode which includes Contrast cranked to 100 ;)
Anyway, let me know when you have better settings I will try, there is however no noise from my set, only watched some blurays to date, black level is incredible along with the picture quality has run out of the world. My roommate features a 42" panasonic and a short while of watching Avatar, and later Predator, he was the next day looking to get the identical set from Bestbuy regardless of the anger it is going to generate from his wife. The smoothness and display quality (after adjusted settings) are wonderful. I haven't tried the 3D yet however.
Predator was incredible too. I thought due to a well used movie that it wouldn't be pretty much as good, but in 1080p, the color and smoothness of the jungle, the head of hair on their face detail, large, was all incredible. It was very smooth and lifelike, yet I was seeing more vivid colors that we hadn't seen before. If you can find this set for around $1500, you will end up very very happy
No Disappointment!
There are time where testimonials are too good really was. But in the case of this Panasonic screen, I cannot find a consistent string of unhealthy ratings for other sites. Based on consumer reviews and CNETs praising in the screen, I made a decision enter into.
Ordered it from Amazon coupled with it delivered by Pilot within 72 hours from ordering. The crew was professional and intensely helpful. I did not use the 'white glove' service of unpacking the the screen and getting hired because i was able to perform that myself (with the aid of son : ) ). TV arrived undamaged, shipping box clean of dents or another external marks that would indicate in my opinion the screen was treated roughly during shipment. I would recommend the white glove service if you fail to manage the setup yourself as the 50inch screen is bulky to take care of alone.
I installed the solid metal mounts (heavy casted aluminum bracket and strong sheetmetal base) while using supplied instructions. No challenge with that step. Please note it's a two person job positioning the screen on top of the stand so remember to not test and become a Superman and man-handle it yourself. Get help!
This TV has the HDMI 'ARC' connection setup. Reading about is a bit more confusing that exactly what it actually does for you personally. Basically I daisy-chained the DVD player's HDMI on the sound bar, (yes I typed correctly) and I connect the sound bar on the screen's ARC HDMI port. If you might be concerned with pixelization or 'bug noise' because of the high-speed motion (read sports), don't be. Watching basketball and football five feet out of the screen showed NO noise . I am impressed!
Did not buy the TV for internet access i really cannot inform you pros or cons of computer. I advise you although it was simple to connect to some wireless router having a encryption key.

This permits each of the pixels to age evenly and gets you past that 100 hour period in places you have to be careful about watching images with static logos or black bars. So after you have this TV and allowing it to warm up to room temperate, I transferred those slides (just jpegs) to your USB, plugged it in, build the display settings, and kept the TV playing for 4 days straight. It in all probability wasn't necessary (and made me very impatient), i do not know that I could have known the gap, but it is nice knowing I've got a better calibrated picture. My only complaints are how the TV features a red LED on constantly showing how the TV is on (I cover it with a speaker), i have found no chance to show off of the display when I am just playing Pandora. Also the web requires a few seconds to reconnect after turning the TV on. When watching YouTube, it's impossible to skip forward or rewind in a clip. You cannot are in a position to change aspect ratio/format when utilizing Viera Connect. Eventually, I expect 3D will hit prime-time and you won't need glasses. Meanwhile, you may get some TVs like LG's line-up which utilizes the cheap 3D passive glasses like they'll use at theaters. However, the LG glasses filled me with a very bad headache after no more than Ten minutes. Panasonic active technology doesn't bother me in any way. Your mileage can vary so that you should consider this by yourself. I am going to say the LG in-store demo is probably the most impressive of all of the brands I tested including Panasonic, Sony, Samsung and Sharp.
The sound around the TV is okay for general use. However, I build a 5.1 home home theatre component system since I intend to use the Panasonic mostly to observe movies, football, and also other big events. For something this massive, I cannot imagine not upgrading to at least a low cost home theater in the box.
I have my Panasonic hooked up to the web via Ethernet but, frankly, won't use this feature aside from upgrades. We have my Panasonic Blu-ray running via a 5.1 Onkyo tuner so I put it on for online content like Amazon's Prime videos. The TV did have a USB wi-fi unit (i had no idea about was a feature once i purchased it). Used to do try and setup the wireless dongle but I have a very strong password for my router's WPA and also the Panasonic remote doesn't support all the characters I would like. Instead of affect the password, I just hooked the tv screen up to a 4-port switch I already had.
The final point here is We've no issue giving this TV my highest recommendation.

The contrast with pure blacks is outstanding! I failed to think I possibly could notice this with no the LG side by side while using Panasonic, but I sure can! Real deep blacks with crispy clean picture. Also, the SD picture with this is way superior to the LCD. I've heard this may be true low-priced any plasma to LCD..but I thought it was worth noting. I have only watched "Cars 2" Blu Ray, fat it turned out awesome picture. I in addition have just played PS3 Madden 12 and wish for speed 2 with my son! UNBELIEVABLE graphic detail on madden 3. Mind you, I am not a serious gamer...but to find out the metallic paint shimmer in the helmets and the reflections of stadium lights in helmets is crazy detail. Need for speed was awesome, and at times, the landscape speeding by appeared to be video to some degree..In connection with 3d, I have not yet completed it yet. Again...this is significantly less important to me being a great picture. But soon I am going to find some good OEM glasses and I"m expecting just as spectacular an image.
The VIERA wireless system is great. Easy to use for essentially the most part. Typing passwords with a keypad of course is lame..but when your signed in to say Amazon video, you should not do again. The HD video on Amazon on demands is extremely good, along with the SD isn't bad either.. Very surprised.. There is a whole bunch of apps on there, but we are going to probably don't use anything but the Amazon, maybe the elements app from time to time and possibly a couple of others. It is almost dumb that the wireless usb stick sticks out in the side of the TV if you don't also employ the included extension wire. Bad design idea adding a pointless additional cable.
I have this system connected to Yamaha VX371 receiver with HDMI passing the recording signal from my comcast cable box, in the reciever, then to TV's ARC input. Bluray also performed this way. I'm not happy while using reciever due to some issues the way does switching with audio..appears to be a challenge. But i merely let you know here how its installed along with the picture is aweseome using the HDMI passing via a low to mid price receiver. Not confident that it will be better yet direct from cable box to TV or with better receiver.
I mounted this about the wall utilizing a CHeetah Mount with double swing arms. TV is heavy and my children held the whites to lift while i held the opposite. Mount is effective along with the TV really looks great on the wall. I noticed when researching this TV there were "poor marks" for design. I have no idea when you can call a black frame thats about 1-1/2 inches a bad design. I guess thats when you begin to have insanely picky low-priced similar models. Don't allow that to decide for you. PICTURE QUALITY is the central in my mind.
Now....about the main issue on amazon about fluctuating brightness. This was my only fear in ordering this TV...however i did observe that panasonic was fixing or had fixed. When I acquired the television it were built with a mfg date of May 2011. But I have not seen any one this problem. Unless i am unable to notice, or I merely got lucky. I will update this later when it changes. Also interesting was there would have been a great page inserted with instructions referred to as Panasonic Concierge. It had 800# listed with info thanking you to buy and asking to call with any questions/concerns. Wondering if the was on account of fluctuation issue? Nice touch anyway..

The Best I've Seen
BUT... you can't experience some tips i have if:
1.) There is no need a Cable or Satellite HD Receiver. and/or
2.) The area where your TV is, has windows or possibly very bright. This will, obviously, not be a challenge at night.
Where the above mentioned Point Top is concerned, I understand somebody that sells these TV's. He hears complaints from unsatisfied buyers haven't any HD Receiver, yet they be prepared to understand the same vivid and spectacular images that they saw within the store. Also i HIGHLY recommend using an HDMI cable to get in touch the TV to the Receiver, in contrast to standard RCA cables. This will significantly improve the image quality!
Where lights are concerned, we've placed this TV in a room which has no windows that face the screen. That detail MAY explain a number of the faded picture comments i have read. I realize that plasma screens work best without competition from windows.
Since Initially when i first published this review, I have purchased (iTrek) 3D glasses. Please read my 5-Star review of these rechargeable glasses. Allow me to just let you know: the 3D is breath-taking! On the negative note, this TV boasts a chance to simulate 3D from 2D sources, but I have never found this feature to be anywhere near as effective as I hoped. I attempted it a few times and wasn't impressed. But, if the Cable or Satellite Service offers 3D channels, you are in for the real treat!
The Viera also boasts Wifi, and gives you the power to run Netflix, Youtube and Hulu and some other Internet movie sites, with the necessity to get a computer or nintendo ds middleman connection!
Bottom line: In case a 65" TV is within your budget, I HIGHLY recommend this model. Whether it is too pricey, then choose a smaller screen, but the Panasonic Viera will be the way to go! Two thumbs, WAY UP!!!
If you get this, you do not be sorry... My children certainly was Pretty pleased using this type of purchase!

If they had six stars, I'd use'em.
When Initially when i first turned it about the picture wasn't things i wished for, however i attended your website highdefjunkies.com (Just go towards the website and type in the model number in their search field) with a "panel prep" procedure they claim prepares the pixels with even wear for suggested custom settings AND prevents burn-in. Used to do it (what's four days?), then create their suggested settings (I'd have not came across these by learning from your errors.) The image now looks friggin' amazing.
I was nervous in regards to the reports of fluctuating brightness, but Panasonic now repairs affected TVs, as well as the same website features a page with step-by-step directions on working with Panasonic, to ensure that provided satisfaction. (If mine is affected, it's too subtle to note.)
An Excellent TV
I got it and immediately ran it through approximately 100 hours of break in using slides I came across with the AVS forums. This was a thing that lots of people had suggested. It was tough the inability to watch it without delay. After which was completed I calibrated the television picture using some seeting that was recommended inside the forums. These recommended settings also turned off/minimized the feature that caused the normal Floating Black issue. I did tweak the recommended settings and also the resulting display quality is fantastic.
The TV can be used heavily for watching sports and playing PS3 (COD), along with regular TV programs plus some movies, both streamed and Blu-ray. There aren't issues with some of these uses. The TV allows you to set up different settings for each and every input separately. I have my sports along with other TV using one setting for picture and also the PS3 for games and Blu-ray by using a different setting. The hands per hour about the TV is fantastic. There is no lag because of the TV. It is fantastic for over the internet gaming.
I don't use the world wide web aspect of the TV nor do I use Netflix. I did use it for the network to view its streaming capabilities but it couldn't stream the majority of my movies though these are AVI files. Since I can already get it done over the PS3 I didnrrrt investigate further.
This TV continues to be fantastic. I would recommend it to anyone, particularly if they enjoy sports and video gaming.
Great TV when you dowload the most up-to-date software.
As soon while i received my set, I hooked it down, turned it on and the brightness was fluctuating up and down. OH NO, the same as I read using some other reviews. I called Panasonic plus they explained that was obviously a problem with C.A.T.S., an element that dims the occur the dark and brightens it inside the light. You can disable this feature and also the Panasonic rep explained who's was fixed with a software update. She was going to send it if you ask me by using an Facts when I asked if I could download it on the wi fi connection. She said "I think so" and I proceeded to attempt to configure the tv's wi fi link with the internet.
I enter the TV network settings and locate my Verizon FIOS wi fi router, go into the security key as well as the TV connects on the router but can't receive an Ip. I strive numerous times but the TV is not able to obtain an Ip through the router. So, I Google "Viera Link and Verizon FIOS" and learn that others have experienced this issue which is resolved by manually entering an IP address, gateway and DNS to the TV network settings. When I actually do this, I connect and download software version 2.07 for your TV.
Once new software is installed, I can find no proof fluctuating brightness or Netflix audio processing issues. I begin evaluating the set and everyone in the house is blown away with the picture. Awesome color and black levels and no motion artifacts or LCD soap opera effect.
I would recommend this TV to anyone and thought it was crucial that you share the resolution to the few technical glitches I experienced. Panasonic support was responsive although not that knowledgeable. Luckily you can find any answer through Google.
Absolutely floored from this amazing tv!
I don't be aware of where to start describing the phenomenal picture that tv produces. One thing I did so was a firmware update over wifi and that i crossed my fingers and hoped for the most effective. I turned off C.A.T.S. like others suggested and i also haven't noticed one particular fluctuation with the brightness within the last month that my parents have experienced this tv. I do ought to point out that the audio quality along with wasn't impressive but after tweaking the audio options the volume increased dramatically and I managed to improve the quality of the audio to some very acceptable level. My own tv is hooked up to a 5.1 home theater system so I'm very spoiled with audio but my parents state that the Panasonic audio sounds great to them when compared with their old 50 inch plasma so I'll let it sit as well.
Although there may often be more choices for tweaking the image and sound I'd say there are tons adjustment choices on this unit. My parents lounge is actually comparatively brightly lit so the Game mode seems to be the most suitable choice of viewing modes for the kids. There is one mode that's even brighter than Game and that is Vivid though I have been previously written in context as a Panasonic customer support rep that you just shouldn't use that way of the very first couple months of usage. No requirement to worry for those who have a brightly lit room as Game mode is enough bright enough.
I love every one of the applications including Netflix and Pandora especially since Pandora allows you to input several sign in contact information at the same time in order to switch between music accounts with a touch of your mouse. Pick your bank account and bam your music increased and running close to your tv. If I had created to nit pick I'd state that sometimes (maybe once out of every 10 times) the tv screen provides me with an error when I try to hook up to the internet. All I have to do is back out striking the button again plus it connects thus, making this not just a huge deal.
I have yet to try the 3D mode so I can't reply to that but over everything the tv screen is fantastic. I've seen 65 inch tv's at a lot more than twice the cost of this who's picture doesn't look any benefit in my experience (the truth is they generally looks worse). My parents tv is linked to Dish Network as well as the HD quality is the best I've ever seen on any television. You can probably get yourself a few more features on Panasonic's highest end televisions however i doubt would certainly be far more impressed with all the picture. This is definitely the top tv your money can buy i think.

One last thing Let me note was the web part of this TV. When I first setup the network to my wireless router I'd it hunting for a and N on wireless, which I believe is the default setup. On netflix it would transfer the interest rate from 1080p to 480p every 5 minutes...I was getting pissed, therefore i switched off the Part, so it is N only now I purchase 100% 1080p output on the net...If you are being getting less than 1080p and you've got wireless N, the choice is yours fot it only, that should have it to keep with the 1080p output only.

Nice quality TV
The 2D picture is great - the black levels are solid - the brightness is superb for a plasma - and the colors are rich in saturation.
The 3D picture is amazing! We contain the rechargeable glasses with all the Avatar Kit plus they are lightweight and work adequately. The 3D was actually a lot better than inside the theater.
For a mid-level TV, this really sets the bar. I recommend this television.

We also found themselves buying Walker Edison Regal 60-In. 4-in-1 TV Stand with Mount to set the HDTV on (we bought the 60" version of the type of HDTV). The original plan was to use its included mount to mount the telly as opposed to the choice is yours at the top shelf, but Panasonic's documentation was adamant that you simply just use Panasonic-certified mounts and so i decided to place it on top shelf instead, that was no huge problem. We also just bought Panasonic TY-EW3D3MU 3D Active Shutter Eyewear for Panasonic 3D HDTVs (Medium). We just got them yesterday, and don't yet have much content to try them with. I found a number of 3D demo videos web played them plus they looked decent. I also received Batman: Arkham City which can be took part in 3D, though to tell the truth Some see any real difference after enabling 3D (though I only played it another hour or so). So, right now, That's not me overly impressed with all the 3D functionality but like I said, we'll see what are the results while i acquire some real 3D content.|

Beyond my expectations!
ST30 was easy to build as is also and it even came with WiFi dongle i really was connected in a few minutes. I've discover the fluctuating brightness issue but I haven't noticed it yet after 4 times of viewing on different sources - HD feed, Blu ray, etc. I prefer to watch sports and movies so this TV is completely ideal for that. Amazing refresh rate for fast paced pics and action sequences!
The standard picture setting is not good. Neither is Vivid or Game. Too contrasty and unnatural. You need to set the image setting yourself to make the most of because of this TV in Custom mode. I followed this create and i also was amazed. [...] The setting here doesn't even push the contrast that far or the black levels. However it is perfectly...blacks are plenty deep with great detail. Colors are natural and realistic yet saturated to the nice pop. Yes it lets you do wash out a bit in case you are watching it in the daytime in brightly lit room however it is not dramatic.
I'm very impressed using this type of TV so far and that i haven't even tried the 3D yet. With the price it is at this time it's a great buy. Along with the Prime white glove shipping was very convenient because they dropped them back right in my living room. They even can agreed to have it as is also. I'm super happy with buying to date.
Great picture, features, and value!
The image quality is gorgeous. From 1 foot away, the image is a little noisy, but from any reasonable viewing distance, the image is perfectly smooth and gorgeous. Couldn't obtain better. I love it. Don't be concerned concerning the fluctuating brightness problem either. The brightness fluctuated until I connected it to the net and downloaded the most recent firmware. BTW, all the features of the TV are easy to use.
Youtube works well with this TV. The interface is straightforward and effective. You have access to your youtube account with this TV. I have not tried some of the other internet features yet, but there's some of them. You can use a wireless keyboard using this type of TV.
The 3D feature rocks ! and works extremely well. This can be by far the very best TV's to observe 3D videos on. The most effective 3D videos I have come across to date include the IMAX under sea videos. It's like you're deep-sea diving and you're feeling as you can touch the ocean creatures right in front person. These videos blow away any 2D videos I have come across about marine life. You'll be able to play 3D games about this TV too. Nvidia makes software that lets you play 500 computer games in 3D in your hdtv. I purchased Blick brand 3d shutter glasses instead of the Panasonic brand. Blick cost less and better. They work perfect. If you wish to impress your pals, suggest to them the IMAX 3D under sea videos on this TV.
As far as I will easily notice, this TV doesn't have to be able to record programs onto a hard drive. This can be a one item If only it did have. So I'm going to use an alternate way to record programs. But I still wouldn't desire to spend twice as much money for any samsung tv in order to have that feature.
I didn't have an Tv because (1) they're far more expensive, (2) they're too bright personally and hurt my eyes, (3) they have got ghosting on quick images for instance in sports, and (4) 3D is much better on plasma.
This TV found over 100 over-the-air channels during my area, so apparently it has a excellent tuner.
The sound quality is excellent for a TV. I haven't connected speakers with it yet and that i seem like That's not me really missing much, although I actually do plan to get together good quality external speakers and also a subwoofer between the near future.
I've been playing xbox 360 console games in my TV lately. It works great for gaming!!! Furthermore, i loved watching 1080p versions with the classic Gi joe movies about this TV. This is my first hdtv and that i always wanted to see The exorcist on my own big TV. It is extremely impressive. The picture can be so smooth, perfect, and detailed. I've also played a number of PC games with this TV too, also it looks gorgeous. I installed my graphics card to the tv with a 15 foot DVI to HDMI cable.
So if you want a tv, I'd personally look no further and just get a panasonic ST30 series TV.

my experiences up to now...
Hulu Plus - to date June 15 2011, it is unavailable. We are really disappointed, because portion of my purchase decision was HULU which Panasonic advertised on their own web site and HULU mentioned while back as "will be for sale in May", not is says "coming later this year".
Netflix - I had created to manually upgrade to two.04 patch to get rid of static audio noise (this really is known bug), after the upgrade I obtained amazing near to HD video and sound is fixed
Amazon Video - works well, there is not much free (free for amazon prime users) content on amazon video yet
Skype - I bought your camera (it's extra not so cheap accessory). For those who have decent internet connection (be sure you have at least 500kB/s UPLOAD speed on sides), it really works decent. I tested it with PC and iPhone on the other side. My TV is fairly definately not the couch, I became worried about microphones the inability to pickup my voice. Everything is effective.
DLNA - I use external harddrive linked to home Netgear N600 router. TV found the source quickly and I could watch free movies online with no issues. In reality I needed some difficulty with some formats, still must research a little... I attempted a bit of music as well, I needed a lot of audio tracks, it's a bit slow and never the best way to pay attention to music through TV.
PlayON via DLNA - I tried it, but although TV found PlayON running on my own computer, I became incapable of play any movie from any source (local, hulu, ...). Another users reported problems with PlayON and Panasonic and Samsung TVs.
Pandora - is very rewarding, the TV doesn't need the most effective internal speakers. I can't think I am about to use TV to be controlled by Pandora...
There is small issue with the Wireless connection. It's sort of expected, nevertheless, you could possibly be surprised. Every time you turn the TV ON, the wireless connects to your house WIFI router, which take 5-10 seconds. Speaking of size and weight, the 65-inch Pana flatscreen is amazingly thin. Not waver-thin, but very thin, like two inches possibly even. Best picture I have come across to date
A few factors that influenced my decision. The TV will be inside a open room with several sliding doors. I was weighing the advantage of buying an LED tv which could be better for a well lit room. Absolutely Worth the cost!
I have experienced the TV approximately 25 days and it's also the prettiest picture I hvae ever seen. I have no idea that the TC picture could get any benefit than the. For the price on amazon, there is not any better. You do need to play with the settings a lttle bit because the standard pictures settings are certainly not quite perfect. I have witnessed some reviews about glare issues but you'll find virtually no conditions that i noticed. The room is offered to your kitchen before my TV i can barely go to whichever glare when the kitchen light is on. Even if hte window shades are open still not very much glare at all.
Viewing at any angle. You are able to see the picture as clear as day from any angle for this TV. I basically stand on the wall and check out the television and that i can continue to read words on the screen, that is certainly how clear it is from nearly 90 degree angle.
Black level it's essentially true black, when there is a black background you are able to barely tell the edge from the TV from the actual screen, it really pops watching sports and you see the Deep Black and bright whites, it really is amazing. You have to affect the black level in the settings from Light to Dark to essentially obtain the true effect. I haven't used the viera apps since i have offer an XBox and see silly for them. The speakers on the TV are not very good but I just ordered a property theater system when I ordered the tv screen anticipating this. Problem solved.

We hooked up our wireless home network to this particular AWESOME tv with simply no problems. Super fast & easy. Didn't ought to buy anything additional for your wifi feature to function either. We is now able to watch free movies online off our computers on the TV and never having to fool around with plugging your computer in the tv, or burning a show onto a memory stick, or joining an external hard disk. So I couldn't be happier. Oh the best of this is there is absolutely no skipping or lagging. Picture quality that blows you away.
I have had a 67" DLP which I've watched many 3D movies on. And the 3D on that's impressive. But it requires to use checkerboard which I believe doesn't work exactly the same way current tech does. Current tech gives a 1080p image to every one eye, then when you watch a high quality 3D game or bluray, the things that appear to emerge from the screen literally resemble they're floating in mid air. Because they keep their INSANE 1080p detail even though floating toward your eye.
Therefore the Net profit:

- 2D from good sources is insanely detailed with colors that appear to pop off the screen
- 3D quality is not only just "very good" which I've heard said concerning this set. It's incredible
- Pixel refresh speed is excellent, I don't notice almost no blurriness on fast moving objects.
- Black levels seem excellent, dark places remain dark while light areas inside the same image still pop over screen.

OMG! This TV is Amazing!
Picture is superlative. Colors are pure, natural. Picture is bright. No motion blur whatsoever. 3D effect is best I've come across anywhere including theatres. Anytime there's not movie data coming most likely through via hdmi or an ethernet application like netflix, it has an attractive 3D screensaver (2D image flipping around 3D space much like the superman 2 "prison") Have had to utilize internal speakers until We've my main speakers installed. Sounds acceptable.
There are a few defects, but the picture is definitely so awesome that I still provide five stars:
1) there isn't any antiglare treatment. Keep the windows open, light shining in anywhere behind you and also you will see the reflection in the TV even though the picture is normally bright enough to mask the reflections.
2) netflix does not have a search function.
3) annoying boing (can be muted) each time the cursor is moved in the viera menu.
4) no pip. who uses pip anyway? But idea nice to have.
My last TV like a 3/4 highdef panasonic plasma bought in 2003; they've still was able to evolved quite a bit.

First of all, I bought the television for 2D viewing (3D does nothing personally). After researching them for longer than 6 months, I am SOOOO happy i selected the Panasomic TC-P46ST.
It required a couple of weeks of minor tweaking to have the picture to my satisfaction, however it was worth it. I became finally happy about some tips i was seeing, therefore i was now ready for the upgrade to HD programming. WOW, WOW, WOW... it is the best picture I have seen ANYWHERE! Bar none!
This is the most suitable option available at these kinds. Just don't expect perfection straight as they are. Have patience and keep adjusting until its right. And enjoy.
Who knows?... maybe I'll buy set of 3D glasses.

Great TV @ a Great Value
The TC-P46ST30 i bought continues to be fantastic. It turned out quite simple to setup as well as the instruction manual is not hard to adhere to. The wireless took a couple of minutes to connect, but once which was setup we had been browsing youtube, netflix, and pandora! To date, the image quality may be amazing. The 1st movie we watched was Lord from the Rings in 1080p. Wow, the picture was stunning. Also of note: The TV sits in a west facing room. Inside afternoon sunlight shines onto the TV and even though it's a Plasma, we have not had any picture problems. It is bright enough to conquer the glare.
My only small gripe with all the TV is the uber-shiny bezel. I've found more glare around the bezel than the TV itself.
Amazing, to the price; mind-blowing!

Honestly this TV is fantastic. I will go through all the highly geeked out details, but everyone has already gone in the extremely important spec analysis. In my opinion, since January 2012 there's no a lot better than this TV for the price; I like it.
Blu-ray is GREAT
This TV is probably the best That i have ever seen for Blu (when calibrated). The catch is that TV, upscaled DVD, etc all looks significantly worse than other sets.
For BD's I provide it with a 10 away from 10 for PQ.
For everything else this is a 6 from 10.
Sound is alright for casual viewing, the bezel is overly reflective, as well as the screen looks like an image should there be light in front of it.
For MY use, this is a 5 star. For somebody in a very busy livingroom watching television, I might provide 2 stars.

The picture quality on 2D rocks !, so glad i went Plasma as an alternative to LCD. No motion blur, deep black levels. Couldn't be happier using this set. Would recommend to anyone!

Absolutely Amazing TV!
With that said, this TV is amazing! I have the 50". Beautiful picture, an easy task to setup and use, and Viera connect is awesome! Once calibrated, this plasma blows another LCD I've ever seen out of the water. I ought to know since this is my fourth new TV since Black Friday. I've been in the hunt for the ideal one. Found it!
Just two tiny cons though.
1.) Like every other TV available, the quality of sound isn't great. But, who cares? With a smart investment similar to this, you ought to have a fantastic home theatre.
2.) I can not appear to have the ARC HDMI connection to use my Panasonic home theater's ARC HDMI conneciton. The picture is okay, however i still have to make use of an optical audio cable to obtain sound. Not sure what are the issue is here, but I'm doing research. If anyone knows what could be up, please make me aware!
I guess I used to be also one of several lucky ones that didn't obtain a set with brightness fluctuating issues. From what I've heard though, it becomes an easy fix!

The description wasn't really clear personally; i really got a new wireless adapter to go with it. But make no mistake; this TV has the adapter. So I sent the main one I ordered back; Amazon is terrific. Even returns tend to be more hassle free than seeing a big box.

It would have been a relief to view no fluctuating brightness problem. The alternative was to call for the technician to be sold and replace the board showcased. I don't know if the one I obtained was originally built with the proper board a treadmill with all the correct replacement board, that I can't have to endure this challenge, thankfully.
The first thing noticed is the picture will be as good as Consumer Reports stated it will be. Panasonic is often a leader in large plasma TVs, as well as the VIERA TC-P65ST30 was meant included in their flagship fall into line. Have had the tv screen for 3 months along with the picture continues to be BEST I know of thus far. The blacks are as advertised - deepest in the industry. Have not experienced some of the light fluctuations others mentioned. I believe the firmware update Pani pushed thru the net fixed the down sides. Although, it began to have a noticeable buzzing once the picture scene changes from black to white. Called customer care and they sent a tech exactly the same week. He pulled the trunk off and tightened the 20 possibly even screws a 1/4 to your 1/2 turn. Problem solved with a no hassle warranty service from Pani.
This TV is found a space with a lot of windows. The light won't produce a noticeable glare on screen that some reviews warn about.
I never have used the 3D but do use the internet connection for Netflix without having problems.
I suggest this TV for individuals hunting for a GREAT picture.
Update 6/3/2012 - loud buzzing
It is really a May built 46" and yes, immediately after turning it on I saw the fluctuating brightness.
Panasonic customer care was good and that i have a very repair guy being released once the part gets in.
I'll update after the repair.
One thing that is upsetting, I think that Amazon may be removing bad reviews on this set. I saw single star review
and while i returned you just read it during a work break it had been gone.
Update- Tech guy came and swapped the board and everything seems to be ok. I bumped my rating to stars from 4. Will update again if something arises.

I love the TV, nevertheless it started a loud buzzing yesterday that's very annoying. I have never researched how to handle it yet, but hopefully whether or not this continues, the warrant will take care of it.

Great image quality at 2D and 3D. Fast embedded media player with QuickTime and MKV support.
DLNA supports only QuickTime (mp4) video with no problems. No AVI or m2v etc.
Panasonic market and applications - not usable for me. Used only Netflix player (up to 720p quality)
Also found one seems that minor but strange issue - when no signal on selected input - it shows analogous noise - don't know why cause it's fully digital =) Do not know can it be intentional to extend plasma life or some bug from Panasonic engineers. Anyway it has no impact on image quality when playing video from any source.
Panasonic - please please do not close plasma product line! Dislike LCD even latest. Best ever quality/price ratio!!!

My first plasma and i also find it irresistible!
First all, I had been very impressed with Amazon delivery. The someone's place of business in Nashville brought the set to my lounge (within the scheduled time frame), unboxed it, installed the figure to the television, place the TV on my entertainment center, and powered it. They aren't permitted to hook up other things, however i could take it from there easily. This service and delivery may be $70 from someplace like Sears, HH Gregg, or Biggest score, therefore it happens to be added value for Amazon.
After making some video adjustments according to online forums, I'm really impressed with the clarity and quality of it. I use Uverse HD as well as an older Blu-ray player, along with the picture is terrific from both sources. It is actually a big improvement from DLP and my older rear projection set. I am surprised about how you can view a clear picture from any angle (even entirely sideways), something which most technologies just lack. The picture really wins this set over.
While We've the television hooked up to the world wide web, I would not have a very lot of use for that apps. You will add apps for the set, however you have to register with a credit card, even if the apps are free. Youtube is nice, but if I are you getting Netflix again, I'd rather use my bluray player for this.
I can't say anything about 3D yet. No glasses is sold with it, and I don't actually have a 3D bluray player. I am glad they have that functionality, but I will likely watch for the right deal on glasses and also a player before investing that technology.
I use and older Sony soundbar (CT100) with all the system, which works practically. So I can't use the built-in sound. The only concern is i need to stand up or enhance the remote really high to turn about the TV, since bar blocks the IR port when sitting down. All my components enter in the soundbar sub, and yes it connects to HDMI 1.

I'm surprised at how useful Viera Tools are. I didn't think I'd use Netflix streaming b/c I've that through Tivo, however the Viera interface is really a lot better.
Haven't tried 3D yet so no applying for grants any particular one way or any other. Used to do get yourself a free couple of glasses and Avatar 3D, however i haven't purchased a 3D DVD player yet.
Matched w/ Oppo BDP-93 3D Blu-ray player, this TV is amazing. Avatar is stunning (After all the image quality is stunning; the actually movie itself is perfectly).

Even with standard definition cable the look is a useful one. Unlike HD or blu-ray, but a great image. The situation I encountered from changing from my older panasonic viera to this one was as it is HD, it noticed the lower signal strength in the cable being received by the house that this 480p screen really didn't get.
I'm still uncertain why a regular DVD player shows a real bad signal, but the Oppo 93 I simply purchased was great.
I hooked up a whole new Oppo 93, and i also ought to repeat the picture is amazing! So rating has been changed to reflect this. Others who have the same problem, look at cable signal strength as a possible source. This screen will pick up any risk.
I guess the single thing I will have to say is an opportunity how the tv needs to solve this concern didn't work with me, so perhaps the signal strength ended up being to detrimental to the tv screen to resolve internally in custom mode.
After reading some poor reviews about Panasonic CS on other products I believed I'd update my review with generate an income was treated. I purchased my 60 inch ST30 for the steal of your deal after I promised myself I would wait for a while to determine how these new models were performing.
No green blob, no fluctuating brighness, not one of the other concerns that men and women have been observing and reporting. I felt really lucky. I performed the panel prep as some sites recommend and used the calibration settings specified for custom mode.
My set is hooked up to a HD cable box, standard DVD player plus a Denon AVR 891 receiver by HDMI cables, and component for your DVD.
When watching cable and flicks, the outlines of objects (stationary and slow moving) have a very pixelated turn to them which have many different colours to make the look look out of focus... Much like the outline is flickering. So unlike plenty of reviewers I am unable to enjoy a the PQ even though Im not picky of a product I spent so much cash on at a bargain price... It is not the problem some sets have for flickering with action-packed objects as my son and I were watching Barney and that he banded still during the time!
My other complaint could be the hours that Panasonic Concierge service has in Canada for customer support. It is merely 9 to 4:30 EST, monday - Thurs if I'm for the west coast, at all like me, I might must leave just work at 1:30 only to call if the office closes!!!! In my opinion which is not support since many people watch their tvs at night, and should not set time aside work to deal with a problem in daytime!!!!! Few other option besides doing that!!!!!
I is going to be filing a remedy ticket with Panasonic to find out about fixing the situation and can edit this post when the issue is solved.

Definitely the right choice
Pros:
Awesome picture (nothing matters more in my opinion). Going from the 42" 720p Panasonic plasma to this particular model, the 'softness' of DVD content articles are quite apparent from two separate excellent upscaling players. Blu-ray is important with this screen size, and the quality is definately that watching outdoor scenes coming from a stationary camera that suddenly sets into motion is slightly disorienting. The effect is similar to looking an empty window and also the scenery actually starts to move as if a home is on wheels. I spent the initial few days viewing various content using the cinema picture setting seeing several articles designating this since the nearest THX. I later found a website with specific consumer calibration settings just for this model as well as the difference this adjustment made is remarkable. I've replaced the factory default with your settings for all inputs and today large, color temp, saturation, contrast, etc., are just right. Cinema just isn't bad, however it definetely mutes large pallete too strongly for my liking.
Nice connected functionality and application suite. Netflix streams nicely as well as the picture will work for their HD content and subpar for non-HD. That's not the tv's fault...their SD content seems like crap on smaller screens too. The apps are arranged nicely and so they work. The connected submissions are not only a big factor personally, though the app selection introduces several offerings, Amazon and CinemaNow, which aren't positioned on my other streaming devices. HuluPlus is notably missing, if that matters to you. Getting connected was easy, that is certainly, easy when i lost the battle looking to enter my wireless network passkey (that has been rejected) and instead connected using the WPS function. Hopefully your router has this feature because it made the task very easy.
Cons:
Pedestrian styling. This set is considerably thinner than earler generation plasmas, however the styling is squarely ho-hum. The bevel is fairly thick even though there's not much to complain about, there also little that improves upon the aesthetic of the predecessors. The set is usually fairly non-descript so it's unlikely to be an offensive addition to your lounge, as there are nothing to detract your eyes from your excellent picture when powered up. The base pedestal is often a glossy piano black finish that does a great job of showing off how rarely dusting happens around my place.
The less than subtle brightness shift occurring between light and dark scene transitions described in other reviews here's a fact of the model. While it is noticable, it might be markedly less so, provided you're making some picture adjustments that should be made even the lack of this flaw. It's not at all a dealer breaker for this reviewer, there are a lot more egregious imperfections in our competing lcd technologies.
Overall, you'd be pushed to locate a style of this quality and performance around, especially as of this price point.
Very pleased about this TV!
Set up was very easy; took about 3 minutes to acquire through the initial menu; I delayed the web connection (a dongle is roofed)to start with but later installed by using not an issue. (it helps to learn the manual online prior to delivery!) I currently have it around the included stand. It was delivered (from Amazon) via CEVA; they notified me 2 days ahead of the scheduled delivery and in actual fact delivered it a day early. There is just one delivery guy; he provided to get another helper nevertheless it would have been later inside day, and so i helped him take it in. He opened it; he reduced the problem attach the stand and lift it to TV stand (not really much heavy because it is kinda big to deal with), and waited until I obtained it connected and turned it on. I hadn't ordered anything this big from Amazon before; however i can do so in the future!
Regular HDTV cable is extremely good; bluray DVDs are absolutely fantastic. I haven't really noted any motion blur. I don't utilize the TV's sound because i pipe it through the home entertainment create all the time. The web connections work flawlessly, although We've only used Netflix and YouTube to date. I acquired a few the short 3D DVDs; besides the DVDs being pretty lame (no great movies yet) the 3D is very effective. I buy a bit breakup on 3D; however i have since browse the DVDs I purchased are problematic to the, although I think Let me hang the unit about the wall to make it somewhat higher for any better feed to the glasses synch. I had created to experience with it somewhat to get the 3D, but ended up my issues was with my Sony bluray player (this can be my 1st 3D)
I would be a little concerned which i hadn't actually seen the TV before choosing it, as it wasn't to get yet, however i have been looking at last year's Vieras, and so i thought it might be OK. It really is - and I am very glad I purchased it - no regrets whatsoever.

I am absolutely exuberant about my new TV. That's why I am so annoyed at lots of the reviews on Amazon. I would not use whatever green blobs other's have observed, and my panel was one of the earlier production runs based on its serial number. The sound is perfectly passable, but anyone expecting high-quality sound coming from a 50-in panel for less than a grand just doesn't understand what they're doing. The built-in sound on any hd panel only exists then it functions and soon you buy a sound system, ideally surround-sound. If you do not need surround-sound, the built-in audio is fine.
My TV is equipped with the challenge in the brightness shift JIMMIENOMAN noticed, but after updating the firmware, the shift is difficult to see, simply happens once in a long while. Also, it can be wrong to assert they're brightness "fluctuations," since that seems like several brightness alterations in a row. It is just a shift, considering that the brightness changes noticeably once at any given time. I may still call Panasonic ahead fix the matter, however it is barely worth my time since the brightness shift if barely ever noticeable, so when it is noticeable, it hardly distracts through the viewing material. None of such issues qualifies 1-star reviews. Essentially, I think it would warrant a couple of star deductions, but giving this panel 1/5 stars is simply ridiculous. You can't expect $5,000 of quality when you've paid barely a lot more than 900.
All this said, I'm thoroughly satisfied with my panel , nor regret it, even after learning more about other plasmas because the buying the ST30 (particularly the 2010 LG models, which sound great but are more expensive).

Everyday I love it a little more...
I cant find no problem by it yet... Played XBOX into it, watched HD Movies and HD TV, and some SD TV, everything is what exactly it should be. But the most popular part will be the Apps... I can watch Netflix now without resorting to my XBOX, I'm able to tune in to Pandora while I'm in another room. This TV has a lot to provide, I am like I'm gonna pop.
I in addition have a pretty bright family room and that i do not have to have the TV very bright to savor it.
Oh and i am a smaller lil thing i was able to lift this TV by myself and mount it on my own wall on my own. My old LCD was atleast 10lbs heavier, even though I did obtain it unusual, I dont think I possibly could understand it on...
Make sure you obtain it calibrated... tho it's fine along with to the untrained eye.

Spend less and opt for the greater pictured Plasma on the overpriced Led (which is essentially just a brighter Lcd). Plasmas cash better blacks but not as bright as Led but in a dark room/movie setting it can be much better than Led.|

I'm using this TV attached to the wall with a mid-range blue-ray player, Dish Network DVR plus an XBox360. All are connected via HDMI, each is stunning to think about. The speakers are passable, however i work with a surround rcvr. The remote is decent, but I wish it may control something aside from Panasonic products.
I cannot imagine why anyone would spend on the "higher end" offerings from Panasonic or Samsung or Sharp or Sony when this absolutely gigantic and delightful picture are available at under $1700.

This TV won't flourish on standard definition. If you're getting a $1000+ TV, one could assume choosing running HD. I liked to swap between SD and HD as well as the SD is not good, worse than my 3 year-old 40" Samsung. With nevertheless I purchased this TV to own HD. I also watch plenty of sports and I do not notice in motion blur along with the images just look crisp.
In terms of 3D, there's simply not lots of content out there. 3D is costly now, when Blu Ray first came out, the average Blu Ray movie involved $25 where there weren't many titles available. In time the cost of 3D arrive down and more movies is going to be available. The 3D for this TV is good. It took awhile to modify the 3D settings. I used a set of SanSonic universal glasses which are half the price of Panasonic's. The default settings for 3D can be harmful. You'll just need to enter the 3D menu and waste time. I also found when you play a movie, it defaults to cinema mode. I like to keep my custom settings for 3D. I've only watched one movie in 3D therefore i can't say an excessive amount of more. I'm anxious for more 3D content.
Overall this TV is a superb value. It competes with TV's that cost $1500-2000. I don't believe you will need to concern yourself with fluctuating brightness either that i'm betting most of their pre-August stock is sold out.

Excellent TV and amazon experience
Finally after having a month of deliberation, I made the decision to consider it and ordered one from Amazon. My almost 5 year old am excited for a big TV. The first TV was shipped via Home Direct so when it came home, the screen had multiple cracks. It was so disappointing for us. I almost decided to request refund as an alternative to reshipping and choose Brick-and-Mortar store. Somehow, my experience with Amazon made me to give them another chance.
So I asked for one more piece. Around same time, Sears had $899 price and i also could price match this with Amazon after a simple call. It was just like a BF deal.
After another 5 days, the TV arrived. This time Ceva was the carrier along with the TV was at perfect condition. Two relatively old people came, and i also ensured they have a good tip for their effort. In the end, it had been a cheerful moment.
I ran the break in slides for approximately 100 hours and then started watching the tv screen. (I had been watching lil bit before the break in was complete), but boy...the product quality has stunned me therefore gets the features. Having a yellow light near the TV, and all sorts of lights off, the Cinema mode gives this kind of true pores and skin. Watched Oscars on HD and my family and i were left marvelling with the plasma technology.
For anyone for the hook about plasma and torn in deciding between your two, my advice is usually to opt for plasma. This is a better tested technology than LED/LCD and picture quality is amazing. The newer plasmas have so much features to prevent the screen burn for the reason that this can be don't a problem.
We are enjoying this quality TV. Btw, amazon refunded me $50 for the trouble with the 1st shipment therefore this TV is perfect for $849. That's steal deal and than BF INHO.

Totally definitely worth the price and must-have for gamers!
There's that thing about plasma's that a lot of people around me were trying to deter me from...but these were debunked especially while i bought this, for example:
-It's thinner than my Sony LCD! It's seriously a minimum of 50% thinner.
-The colors, even the blacks look spectacular.
-Motion smoothing is effective.
-Very sharp and will not run as hot as everyone made it to be.
-Clean and crisp, superior to my LCD.
-FAST RESPONSE TIME!
My popular trend was ready for a TV that I can play games on at the same time (yes, I'm a nerd but this alone would have been a big deal-breaker for TV's not just for gaming but even for movies and shows). Most LCD's I've was required to take care of latency issues (in places you hear the sound first and images later). Even if your game had a feature to modify for the lag, it still couldn't calibrate correctly; furthermore in case a game didn't have the options (especially pre-PS3/360 era), you're at a complete loss. This TV doesn't have those problems. If you play fighting games, you couldn't request a TV with quicker response. For music games (for example Guitar Hero, Beatmania, DDR, etc), this is actually the TV for you personally. Even for titles on the Ps2 (or systems which utilizes component/composite connections), I had created virtually no issues scoring on top of older titles without wanting to make amends for lag like I'd to for my LCD.
We've used this TV for movie nights, Super Bowl and sports entertainment, gaming nights, take your pick. It's been a huge hit at parties and events, I could not recommend this TV enough! Not only does this work, it seems sleek too! With the correct TV stand, it's beautiful.
(I did not have any fluctuating brightness issues)
My only gripe would be that the speakers are pretty lackluster, but we obtained a decent Vizio soundbar and it's just kicked it down several notches!|
More than expected
An AMAZING TV at an incredible price!!
I found the 55ST30 at my local Sears for $1074.99. That is a rock-bottom price for the 55" 3D, 1080p, Smart TV. Considering I used to be seeking to spend ranging from $1500-$2000 for the TV, to express I had been ecstatic will be putting it mildly. We had arrived conscious some models produced before August 2011 had problems with brightness flucuations, speculate our model was manufactured in October 2011, we were fine.
After receiving the TV home and unboxed, I ran across the setup to get extraordinarily simple. There was everything hooked up and able to go ahead minutes, and upong turning it on found the inital onscreen setup to become just as simple. After answering a few pre-determined questions we had arrived directed in to the WiFi part of the setup. The included WiFi dongle was attached and discovered my router easily and within minutes we had been installed and operating and watching television in stunning 1080p.
THE INITAL IMPRESSION:
At first, I became NOT blown out of the water. Although the picture was detailed, the colours were washed out and dull along with the tv's brightness was lacking. I became disappointed. That was until, however, I discovered the TV was set to "standard" mode. We set it to "cinema" mode and then "game" mode and THEN we were really COOKING! The colours were VIBRANT and the images POPPED from the screen using a fury. We were amazed by the crispness and clarity fo the images and may not believe how well basic televison looked. You have to moved onto HDTV programming and turned on some college basketball on ESPNHD. Which was a higher level of WOW! It turned out had you been there when it comes to. It's hard to place into words how amazing this TV looked. The shades were vibrant, but natural (unlike LED's) and the detaisl were amazingly crisp. We will not imagine the TV looking any benefit...we had been WRONG!

FIRST IMPRESSION OF BLU-RAY With this TV:
We thought we would next move from HDTV to Blu-ray. We put in the Blu-ray of Pixar's "Up" and our jaws dropped towards the floor. The image was AMAZING. Details that people had never seen before were exploding out of the screen at us. We will not believe our eyes. The crispness and clarity was BREATH-TAKING. It's tough to truly place into words how amazing Blu-ray looks on the fantastic TV unless you actually feel it at your house, outside the lights of a retail setting. This is a true cinema experience that is unparalelled in the beauty.

SMART TV APPS:
This was a feature in the TV that we wanted. We are already memebrs of Netflix on our Xbox360, so we knew that having Netflix streaming on our tv was the next phase. The choices available fromt he start are ample. Netflix, Facebook, Cinema Now, MLBTV, NBATV, and Hulu Plus are simply a number of the apps available right out with the box, not to mention you will find there's Viera Apps store where you can purchase and download countless other apps and games. The only issue with this really is it comes with an annoying "dinging" noise evertime you cycle through apps.

VIDEO GAMES:
Wow...I am talking about, WOW!! We installed our XBox360 so we were ready to go. We threw in MLB 2K10 and were floored with the detail. It appeared as if we had been watching a TV broadcast instead of playing a game. COD: Modern Warfare 3 looked a lot more incredible. I can only imagine that gaming on the PS3 would look a lot more amazing!

We didn't purchase almost anything to utilize the 3D tech, so I'm sorry to convey that we can't rate this. We like keeping the 3D in case we choose to use the technology later on, but right now that wasn't our major concerns in getting a TV.

The audio is standard (if the little about the lower side) and it is the one drawback of the tv screen. When I bought it home very first thing I realized was that the TV is exceptionally bright. All I desired to do was alter the default 'standard' picture mode to 'game' or 'cinema' this also TV is brighter than my old LCD. I bet the store people been there on standard mode which explains why I wasn't impressed by it. So, if you are searching to purchase this TV, find out if you'll be able to customize the picture mode within the store or try it out at a friend's place. The image quality is much much better than many LCD TVs. Blacks are pitch black and HD picture looks simply gorgeous.
Besides the highest image quality the characteristics such as Viera connect and DLNA make this TV essential buy. TV quickly detected my wifi at home at full signal although TV is within the basement and the router is around the upper level. No problems in accessing network apps. I instantly started viewing HD pictures from my online google account. Next I explored the DLNA feature and was surprised to view my network hard disk drive had been detected and able to browse. Zero hassle!! I started viewing contents in my hard disk (songs, videos, photos) in seconds. Everything was accessible right away and did take virtually no time to configure anything.
I haven't tested the 3D feature yet, but from a few things i have experienced so far, I will be believing that this TV has provided biggest bang for my buck without getting yourself into the 3D benefits.|

I upgraded for the 60ST30 from an older rear projection crt hdtv (that was no slouch). The ST30 blows that old tv from the water for most every way:
Pros-
-Superb picture. Motion is quite smooth with or without motion smoother turned on
-Crisp image
-Ink dark blacks
-Plethora of online options
-Veralink link to other Panasonic devices (e.g. blu ray players for one-touch operation)
-Nice remote, though I'm using a logitech harmony
-Decent quantity of hdmi connections, component video and optical audio out
-Excellent delivery service and return policies (if you'd like them) from Amazon
Cons-
-Heavy, though for a lot of other tvs on this size it's a given. I struggled with only my wife and i and i am a fairly big guy; this is not a single person job even if you are not mounting it on a wall
-Plasma technology may be at risk of burn in and image retention. Haven't had this tv long enough to comment, but there's been none to date. My older crt rptv also uses phosphors and had no issues, so ymmv. For me it's worth as a bit careful with static on-screen images to the payoff in image quality
-No 3d glasses packaged, require a 3d blu ray to use 3d movies. You need to pay to experience I guess; I probably will not be trying 3d for this tv to get a while
-Glossy screen might be a Con, however my room has windows behind the viewers in the tv then there is no glare issue. Might be worse in the bright room so it will be something to consider
Other thoughts:
I did one hundred hour screen aging with this tv, running colored slides and then setup the television with settings as specified by using an hdtv forum (google st30 calibration for a couple of examples)
Comparing a GT30 with Samsung offerings in the big box store, Samsung's plasma image looked better but I took a risk for this because price was better. Though the ST30 is often a cheaper price compared to the GT30, I can not think of the image getting any better by paying more. Perhaps the VT30 could be, but you'll be nitpicking - the ST30 is superb.

Wonderful TV - picture and sound, very good
The 50 inch model was the biggest screen that may easily fit in us room space. Happily, setup would have been a snap and that we were watching this news and weather in about Twenty minutes (including taking the huge cardboard box to your truck).
Interestingly, we learned that our old HD cable box failed to offer an HDMI connection port so on the HD stations, the image quality wasn't crisp. Hmmmm. A simple day at our local cable support store along with a swap out to the newest box plus it was instant "wow!" for the crisp colors, sharp pictures and good quality sound with the built in speakers.
We haven't yet experiment with the net interface (Hulu, Facebook, Netfilx, etc.,) although connecting it wirelessly cannot happen to be easier. (Yes, there exists a wireless network within our house.) The Netflix interface might appear to be a possibility since a show ticket inside the theatre today is $12.
As a died within the wool Sony guy, finding happiness in the Panasonic is high praise indeed.

I haven't any major complaints concerning this TV to date. Minor complaint - there is certainly occasionally a "humming" noise from the TV when watching certain channels. I've come across others mention this matter in reviews on Amazon. Not so bothersome. Sound is excellent (TV is in a fairly-small living room). Picture is definitely gorgeous. I've yet to observe various movies about this thing, so cannot comment about any fluctuating brightness issues mentioned previously by other reviewers. One thing - setting up WiFi about the TV would be a difficulty, and took some time, and was only resolved by digging through numerous online forums for "codes" to input.
Overall, pleased as punch!!

I love all of the features and have used a lot of the more interesting ones. I purchased the DLNA link to view movies photos from my home network, I have tried personally the viera link to connect the Panasonic DMP-BDT310 3D Blu-ray DVD Player that we bought and delay pills work great. I also have used the world wide web content alot since I am a prime member and have netflix.
The only downfall to this TV to me was the location in the USB ports, if you plug in either the dongle or other things it stands apart the medial side from the TV. However I solved this by hardwiring my internet and also will probably be while using the SD slot instead of the USB.
All in all this TV can't be beat for your price. I have the best TV away from anyone I know and many people paid much more than I did.

Love this plasma!!! 60ST30
First set would have been a 60GT30 from BB, noticed green blob with a gray screen and $500 over this set therefore i returned. Second set would have been a Samsung 59D7000 from Amazon but that set buzzed excessive, couldn't connect to wifi, really flimsy looking, and cheaply built (though it look cool). Therefore i sent that challenge and ordered this 60st30.
First off shipping via CEVA is 100% much better than Pilot. Two guys actually took it out with the box, helped assembled, and set it about the indicate me. The people from Pilot just wanted me to sign the paper, didn't even want to await me to test for cracks on the watch's screen (I made them wait). Simply wanted to decrease it off and run off as soon as they are able to.
When When i first saw the TV, I thought that they mistakenly sent me the 60GT30 since the bezel looked so excellent. And yes it am much thinner than I anticipated. And if you're deciding whether or not to spend an extra $300 for any nice bezel, DONT'T! It's no worthwhile. Spend those funds provided that you would like an additional HDMI, THX (i defintely won't be using anyways since i have plan on using CUSTOM mode), or if you wish to mount your TV as close on the wall as possible (don't recommend this since you'll have a pretty difficult time plugging anything into TV after it's mounted. You will want about 1.5-2" from wall to TV for clearance of cable and bottom speaker protrusion.
Now the TV is around the stand, I can tell you We have no regret obtaining the ST over the GT (also another reason I got the Samsung because I figured it looked cooler). So even though seventy one sets worked perfectly, I might still get the ST and save at least $300 over other 2 sets. Up to now I have never watched much TV but all three sets looked a comparable in my experience, I really much like the panasonic better than the samsung. In case you have done any research you understand all these sets have similar picture quality so can't fail with them. I own a 7 year old panasonic plasma for still delighted with it, no problems whatsoever. I prefer to save this TV for at least another 7 years.

I had to reset the image settings to get the picture to take a look the most effective. We used settings that have been recommended on plasmatvbuyingguide.com not to mention, upgraded my cable plan to recieve HD.
I never have tried the 3D yet. We have asked Santa to get me some 3D glasses for Christmas.

The service was poor at first but exceptional right at the end.
I was set for a scheduled delivery between your hours of 4-7pm. Around 1PM I called CEVA while i had been at the job to verify the delivery and this time frame. The rep from CEVA confirmed this and said I had been set. I thought this could be perfect because I became considering surprising my partner after she left your house at 1PM. When I stuck, I headed returning to my desk and acquire a trip from the weird number. And so i answered thinking it was CEVA. It sure was!!! Nevertheless it was the delivery guy calling saying he or she is outside my house door and my spouse was in the setting. To remind you it had been merely one:05PM. I told him to go back at 4 after i leave work and i also sets it up once i go back home. That was my only negative experience.
What was positive was that they came exactly at 4 ( I personally saw them waiting down my street after i got home lol), took the television as they are, wear it the stand, and turned it on, which has been attached to a cable source. It literally took them 5 mins. The wife came home and had been surprised but I really wish i could have observed her initial reaction.
Now to the TV! This TV was shipped from your Arizona distribution center and I wound up getting an April build. In the beginning I became somewhat discouraged since it had not been an article august build. But after reading many thread posts on AVSFORUM, this set might be fixed by the technician that panasonic sends out and can be fixed inside 15 mins. However, if I started up the television, I sought out the fluctuating brightness and I only saw minor fluctuations every once in a while. Besides that things are exceptional. The colours are natural and the blacks are black. Before We used D'nice slides I became watching the Thursday Night Football Game (Marshawn Lynch=Beast Mode). There were no Image Retention, no Green Blobs, and no buzzing. These were everthing I had been trying to find only was gonna return the set.
Overall this can be a great set. I strongly suggest this, specifically under $800.
Word of recommendation: "Don't be discouraged by a model# which is not post august build because that can be fixed!!! In my opinion, return in case you have blobs, buzzing, or image retention.
This tv beats any led/lcd tv every day of the week. The pq is amazing. colors and blacks are exceptional. The demo begins the shop don't do this tv justice. Trust the reviews!!

One thing. The cables protrude in the back in the TV a good inch. I mounted this TV and so i necessary to nail a 2x4 to the studs behind my wall and then the mounter towards the studs. Careful if the mount is flush on the wall.
I haven't determined ways to use the online stuff yet...?? I lost the manual though.
Oh plus FYI. I'm exactly about picture quality and I returned an LG LED TV because I wasn't content with it.

The 50 inch that got replaced was a Panasonic TH-50PZ77U. It's really a great TV, but this 55 inch blows it away.
I tuned it down just a little depending on generic settings I can find on the internet, and have ordered a calibration disk, but even without that, the sharpness and also the colors are significantly better.
The delivery process was painless - I'd have liked it more when they had taken the packaging with them, but apparently they wanted to let it sit here in case we had to return the tv screen - if it doesn't die within the next 25 days, there is no potential for that.
Highly recommended.

As I mentioned I did "extensive" research and after viewing numerous models I got myself this model despite the fact that some individuals have criticized this model I cannot. I have experienced no problems whatsoever and believe this model has got the best blacks I have ever seen on the plasma. Much has been stated on some D-Nice settings for "burn in" etc, but with labeling from the calibration testing "at your own risk" I'd personally equally assume skip it. I did however take the advice of plasmabuyingguide and used their setting which has a slight adjustment on a few colors. Picture preference can be a personal preference and will not dictated by other people. My only advice would be to ensure you refer to the instructions make the image in "home mode" since it is defaulted to in-store display setting as well as set for the hightest settings.
The sound is very good specifically for how big is the speakers which enable it to be adjusted (Extra bass, simulate surround, etc..). I utilize the speakers when viewing normal tv and employ my home theater audio when viewing movies. Setup is straightforward and there's a firmware update available upon entering vieracast. I have cat5 attached therefore i cannot discuss decrease of sync issues using wireless.
Yes, I wish the set had more but I browse the product material and knew what exactly I was purchasing and what features I became receiving. I additionally bought a multi-year protection plan and also have not used nor mean to buy 3-D glasses i really cannot reply to that.
It is tough to evaluate any TV inside store as the models all are already put in their highest settings for your consumer to look at, I personally liked several models to incorporate Sony and Samsung. But the pricepoint for the panansonic was right to me.

7/3/11 I are already developing a trouble with a buzzing noise through the back of the TV and possess contacted Panasonic who definitely are sending someone to consider it in a few days. The brightness of the picture makes the buzzing vary and can be heard when my TV is appeared to some 40, so it's rather loud and annoying. I will keep review updated when Panasonic comes by.
7/8/11 The technician said the noise was normal also to just keep listening to make certain it didn't get any louder. I found this rather odd but I've never owned a Plasma before along with a little noise coming from the back to the amazing 3D and great picture, ahh, who cares.
I really loved this TV
Second coming from all I performed the 200 hrs break-in using D-Nice settings and WOW. Picture looks great, no green blob or green tint problems, bright enough to observe flawlessly without having to burn your vision, overall an excellent Product having a great price. I think that price/performance ratio is unbeatable. There can be many TVs using a greater image and performance than this one and also for the price it's really a steal.
I have to hold off until the 3D glasses arrive to view the 3d capabilites, i will update on that.

Ordered from Paul's TV (fulfilled by Amazon). Could save $50 while ordering from Electronics Expo but seeing several pages of the rating/feedback, the concerns about their reputation have affected my decision. Plus, a previous TV was from Paul's TV too (fulfilled by Amazon too), so I was biased. We have experience of exchanging/returning three big and high (160 lb!) TVs because of defects, therefore there is a chance that the seller will be sending returning item in my experience scares us a lot! By the way, in case you are curious, returned TVs were from Sanyo, Polaroid (using a Samsung panel and electronics inside), and Sony brands.
Panasonic includes a strong green/ecological program so when a somewhat environmentally concerned consumer, I love their program and contains affected my making decisions rather.
The box arrived via Home Direct (1 day late), though the driver helps to handle it in and unpack (Big Because of him!).
This TV was version MG1245xxxx and manufactured in September 2011. If it is necessary for you, the assembly ended in Mexico, but over the vent holes it's possible to see that the panel itself was stated in Japan.
The sound from the speakers and the inputs/outputs are certainly not vital that you me. Honestly speaking, if your are ready to spend this amount of cash for such a TV, you need to be expected to spend $200-$400 over a receiver. In the older days plasma TVs weren't real TVs, they were HD monitors and I will be happy to buy this TV for the similar price even though it might have only one HDMI input no speakers.
The media player (with AVCHD support) is a nice feature. Due to Panasonic for the continued inclusion with the SDHC card reader! Have never tested with SDXC yet.
Regarding the black level. In the event you glance at the screen, regardless if it is off, the screen NEVER looks as black because the bezel. UPDATE from May 18th, 2012: Unsure whether it be to the fact that this TV is bigger or because it has better dynamic range and rendition of colors and shadows comparing with a 42" LED LCD by Panasonic, nonetheless it looks like while watching all the same movies from Blu-ray discs and from DVDs, now we view more details, which seemed to be missed using the previous TV. Should it be a mix of the size and also the dynamic range. Incidentally, a blu-ray player, linked to this TV, is Panasonic DMP-BD45 Ultrafast-Booting Blu-ray Disc Player (Black). It can be connected by using an expensive HDMI cable. Oahu is the same setup that's used with the 42" LED LCD model.|

Set up was simple. I run everything through my Yamaha receiver using HMDI cables.
The 3D aspect is amazing. Over delivers for me and watching Avatar in 3D was like watching it at the cinemas.
Wathcing Blu-Ray 2D movies is also amazing and also the picture is unmatched. You need to do must manually adjust along with settings thought, "Standard" setting the television incorporates is dark. Cinema is better but you can adjust it after that.
The online features will also be fun, the television had a wireless router and was simple to build. Vieracast includes some neat programs and features like movie channels, NetFlix, and Skype for starters.
I would definetly recommend this TV to friends and family-

UPDATE...............
After weeks of watching this gem, I still provide it with 5 stars. By all accounts I will be keeping the Fbr issue. I received a May 2011 build with a PDP-EEP worth of 72.51. I've not seen any Fbr problems YET.
I used Dnice's slides more than 100 hrs and applied his settings. Very nice! I did so adjust some minor things but the picture is sick good!!! Blacks are truely black and white's are actually white. I prolly have 200+ hrs on this tv and also have not seen any retention/burn in, and I watch numerous buisiness channels with all the tickers and logos.
The sound is simply OK, yet it's never great with these slim Tv's. I own a home entertainment system, but even if I did not I really could cope with the sound. It isn't a big issue.
Amazon uses great delivery. Some point out that they add the pedistal and hang it with a stand. They didn't do this personally. But they plugged it into make certain it worked.
Have not examined the 3d freature cause I am unable to decide what glasses to purchase. I can only imagine that it will be awesome. This Tv is Awesome. I do not think you'd reget spending the bucks with this tv. Amazon was about 500 dollars less then my local stores. Great Buy!!!!
Update.. Tv still works flawlessly... BUT, I actually do watch MSNBC and FOX in many cases. These stations and others have static images that left a burn in on my own panny. We have a few options to reduce, or take away the retention/burn in. To begin with, I personally use the disney wow vid which has the option for pixel flippee. After hours people this became no help. So I then used the scrolling bar feature with panny... Still no joy.. have read several articals about "burn in" as apposed to retention.. After many hours of trying to aliviate this issue, I'm thinking this is correct "burn in" and not retetion. I've come across retention and could rid it.. I can't remove this,.. Any help could be appreciated..

I wish it had more apps. My lady loves the pandora app and i also prefer that I could stream my music to the tv. I am aware Panasonic announce more apps but thus far I haven't seen any will need to have.
I would certainly buy it again.

First let me say this... this TV is big. In case your viewing distance is less than 10 feet away, it can be too big. We set this up in our current house at 8.5 feet, and we're very fortunate how the new house is further back, because at 8.5 feet away your neck receives a workout watching it. We have two friends who bought 60 inch TV's plus they both said it was too big, opting to choose a 51" TO 55" instead, and moving the monster within the basement. Aside from being too large for 8.5 feet away, the image is amazing.
Now the large question... do you really need 3D? I had been undecided about this, but we went with a 3D TV simply because it's cool and it's really better to get it rather than need it than demand it not have it... right? Well, maybe not. We took place to Blockbuster to rent a 3D movie... nothing/zip/nada. We went along to Best to buy and bought the final Harry Potter for $30 in 3D (I hadn't seen it) and IMAX underneath the sea in 3D (also $30). Underneath the sea was sorta cool watching it on some $50 SainSonic 3D active shutter glasses we have got on Amazon for $50 each. Harry Potter on the other hand was lame... there, I said it. The film will not be lame, though the 3D added nothing for me personally. Would I go 3D again... prolly not. Would The year progresses 65" at 8.5 feet, not really. I am unable to wait to find yourself in a space large enough to enjoy this TV from 10 feet away.
Now to the wireless... do you need this? I have faith that no. If you wish to streamline Netflix, undertake it in the Blu-Ray. I bought the Harmon Kardon AVR3600 due to the music power and the Oppo 93 to streamline video, so why do I would like the television to speak to the world wide web? It can, i may need it later, but I really don't have to have the Amp, Blu-ray and TV to complete exactly the same thing.
For the record We are happy with this particular purchase. The guy helped me unpackaged it and hang it on the stand. He said Amazon's return policy was the top, with out appear, make sure you maintain your box. He relayed a narrative of your BestBuy TV he delivered and banded there since the guy was actually talking to BestBuy, trying to explain to them it arrived broken. BestBuy advised him to keep it and told him that returning the TV that day (even though it was broken) wasn't a choice. Unlike Amazon, that makes sure it's all regulated cool before you decide to accept it, I came across this cool.
In the final, would I buy it can... absolutely. It requires two more MartinLogan Motion 10's, but I'll wait until I will have them for $125 each.|

The screen is better reflective than my old TV, which does results in a distraction in daytime when Sunlight is directly being released the space.
I initially bought a Sharp Quattaron as a consequence of LED hype, but the moment it was setup my eyes cannot adjust. I believed could be it is getting from 50 to 60 inch so I gave it some time, enjoyed its settings, colors, contrast etc, Did every one of the readings, but could not obtain it to work properly.
When I watched it from front, the colors were dull, therefore i increased the backlight, but when the white scenes came the light caused a glare and I needed to look away from your TV. Then when I watched it from 30 degree angle the pic looked passed.
Not sure if that has been with my tv or perhaps general but I cannot afford a 60 inch mistake in my living room investigating me for next Five years.
This Panasonic TV was on when it left this area. I favor vivid settings, and everything was ok.
Also connected this to youtube, the image is fine, slightly dull, but do i think the the content on youtube :) very little to observe there anyways.
The text entry is on search page was 20 years old technology, however, you can connect your USB keyboard if you'd like. Good thinking to set USB slots and SD card slot sideways then when it really is attached to the wall they are still accessible.
Sound is usually ok for normal transmission, news, serials etc, but when you want to take pleasure from some space alien action flick it's easier to connect it to a good speakers.
Last thing regarding the Bezel, CNET gave some concerns concerning the surrounding bezel i was worried the way it can look for the wall. Actually it looks much better than my old TV as well as the Sharp I purchased. The speakers instead of protruding outwards, and also going backwards, therefore it closes the space at bottom if you mount it on the wall.
The delivery guys were also nice push the button in a short time for me personally.

Another Panasonic Hit
Used D-nice's set up for color contrast, brightness, pro settings etc. without the need for color slides for your first 100 hours as suggested. The setup is beautiful. Takes away the haze I used to be seeing using the pro settings with my personal settings. The way I do believe of break-in is that if Panny sent out TV which has a known issue of needing break-in time they couldn't make this type of quality device as well as their popularity couldn't be up to it is. cnet brags about the ST, GT and VT TV's. The ST is certainly the top bang for the buck. VT excessive unless committed to most viewing as 3D. That leaves the GT vs. ST, and what I've heard is PQ is comparable. My set will be as perfect when i expected.
Just an incredible plasma television with extraordinary picture with settings giving you total control, 300$ extra for THX was not a choice, instead of needed.

tv ,Panasonic ( TC-P50ST30) because I used to be aware of
getting a tv pre xx1215.I obtained lucky.The model number was higher.
I experienced this looking for Fourteen days now and it is incredible.
I have read some websites talking about a "breakin"period.
From several knowledgeable people and the guys at Digital Home,
they say it's not important to go fancy breakin steps.
They point out that in the event the tv must be broken inside it would in the
owners manual.With that being said,during the past two weeks I have
watched old dvd movies,hd movies,BD movies,3D movies and even
played a relevant video game.I additionally watched movies and tv programs with
the transfer from 2D to 3D.Everything looked awsome,especially
watchingn Avatar and Pirates with the Caribbean On Strange Tides
in 3D.I had been very surprised to determine how well this tv changed my
2D movies to 3D.Would it be full 3D? No,but certainly adds depth
to the image.
I also bought a Panasonic 3D BD player and 3D Glasses.
The 3D glasses will be the lighest in weight ( 1 ounce) available.
They aren't anything much like the clunky ones that they had recently.
After a few minutes you get so obsessed with watching 3D that you just forget you've them on.The advertising stated that these glasses can be worn over
regular glasses. The truth is !!!They fit as being a glove.

I saw the FIFA soccer games this past year in 3D at Future Shop and was
blown away with the picture.It felt like I used to be located on the field
with players.That maybe what 3D does.Celebrate you feel a part of what
is going on ,on screen. I am hoping the Super Bowl and the 2012 Olympics
are in 3D because that you will find incredible to view.
